Another week, another S.H.I.E.L.D. Number one comic. This week its Cavalry S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1. Melinda May’s first appearance was in SDCC Agents of Shield #1 (2014).

The Dark Horse Colder Toss The Bones #1 cover reminds us very much of the original Colder #1 cover, doesn’t it? It’s not a bad thing, it just brought the brain right back to that cover. That all said, the volume 1 number one is a nicer (grosser) than the new Wednesday release.

Must read this week, Valiant Entertainment’s Book Of Death The Fall Of Harbinger #1.

A few secrets to learn about and some revelations this Wednesday. This always makes for some great reading. Lets hope at least one of these comics gives us a “holy sh*t” moment.

Find out who the character Poison is in Hail Hydra #3. Poison first appeared in Web of Spider-Man Annual #4 (1988). Speaking about finding out things, learn more about a new character in Riverdale; Archie #3. The Fiona Staples cover is the best of the bunch. It’s actually the “regular” cover, the rest are variants.
A big reveal (secret) will be uncovered regarding Howard The Duck in S.H.I.E.L.D. #10 and learn where Green Lantern got his new look from in Green Lantern Annual #4.

Writer/artist Joe St. Pierre is consistently introducing new characters each and every new issue of The New Zodiax. The New Zodiax #4 is no different. Read the best kept indie comic secret (for now) from Astronaut Ink.

An intriguing comic coming this week from Titan Comics; Bloodthirsty #1. Definitely worth a look.

The InvestComics Wristband Contest At New York Comic Con 2015. #InvestComicsNYCC

Buy a $1(Black) or $2 (Pink) wristband (purchase below) OR at select booths at NYCC, wear it at the NYCC 2015, find a member of the InvestComics team and you will get to select a graded comic for you to keep.

This October (8th-11th) at the Javits Center in New York, InvestComics fans will seek out a member of the InvestComics team at the New York Comic Con 2015 (wearing their black or Pink wristband) in the greatest (and FIRST) comic book website manhunt ever; to win a graded comic book of their choice! Each day of the show will give fans a chance to win. Which means one wrist band equals 9 graded comics to choose from to win.

IC BAND COMIC

Here’s how you participate: You can purchase your black or Pink InvestComics wristband at the website www.trendingpopculture.com for $1 each (plus shipping) or $2 (Pink) (plus shipping) AND at NYCC, more on that in a bit. Fans can purchase more than one wristband if they’d like. It doesn’t mean if you wear more bands you may find us better, it means you purchase more bands and give them to your friends to seek us out too! Wristbands will also be available at the NYCC for purchase for $1 or $2 each. InvestComics has partnered up with a few booths (maybe more, we’ll announce) at the show to carry the wristbands. They will be limited, so get there quickly if you need to purchase any. The booths will be; Valiant Entertainment (Booth 1635), Comicxposure (Booth 562), Creature Entertainment (Booth 1171), Cosmic Times (Booth 1367), Unstoppable Comics (Booth 938), and Royal Collectables (Booth 2922) Walk up to any of these booths and ask to buy a wristband for the InvestComics Manhunt Contest.

***The Valiant Entertainment team will have a special running at their booth. Buy any 5 vol 1. trades for $30!

***The Comicxposure team says that if a fan purchases an InvestComics wristband at their booth, you will get $5 off any variant!

How to play: The InvestComics team will be at the show all four days; Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each day the Manhunt will begin at a specific time. The coverage space for the hunt will be anywhere INSIDE the NYCC. Time is limited, so hunt us down!

Thursday October 8th: 4:00 PM (35 minutes to find us)

Friday October 9th: 5:00 PM (35 minutes to find us)

Saturday October 10th: 5:00 PM (35 minutes to find us)

Sunday October 11th: 4:00 PM (35 minutes to find us)

Once the clock strikes the particular time, the manhunt to find an InvestComics team member will begin. Each member will be wearing an official InvestComics t-shirt (like the one pictured below). Once a contestant finds a member, show us you are wearing your wristband, we will record the exact time (stop watches set together) and head back to base. We will call ahead to see if any other members are on the way back. If so, we will compare times to see who officially won the right to select their graded comic.

IC Crew

As each Graded comic goes off the board we will send an alert via Social Media as to who won (The winners picture of course) and what comic they selected.

The Rules: As with every contest there must be rules.

  1. If you are caught trailing(following) us before the bell sounds on a particular day, you will be automatically disqualified and ineligible to participate in the contest on any given day(s) left.
  2. Once you choose a graded comic, your picture will be taken and blasted via social media. You cannot under any circumstance change your mind and want a different comic thereafter.
  3. You cannot win more than once. If you bought a band for a friend and they find us, then they get a picture and they can do with the graded comic as they wish (give it to you).
  4. The contest takes place ONLY inside the NYCC. Meaning if the time starts and you find an InvestComics team member outside the boundaries of the NYCC you cannot claim your prize.
  5. A claimant cannot claim their prize inside the press area or right outside of it.
  6. If a graded comic goes unclaimed, it will remain in the mix for a person to choose in the next phase (day). A person will not have an option of taking two comics.
  7. No affiliate or team member of InvestComics is eligible in this contest. This includes any involvement of parties in this contest.

*InvestComics reserves the right to alter the contest in any way from now until the dates of the actual show.

*We reserve the right to cancel the contest at any given time in which each participate will be refunded their monies spent in the contest.

  • Valiant Entertainment (Booth 1635) Cosmic Times (Booth 1367), Comicxposure (Booth 562), Unstoppable Comics (Booth 938), Creature Entertainment (Booth 1171), and Royal Collectables (Booth 2922) will possess absolutely no graded comics in this contest at their booths. They do not have any involvement/affiliation with InvestComics and nor are they responsible whatsoever of anything pertaining to the contest. Their main and only priority is to provide an outlet to purchase an InvestComics.com wristband. Any person(s) giving any sort of grievance to any of these companies of any kind will be automatically disqualified.

Throughout the years InvestComics has explained that there is something within the speculative/collectors market that is just as important as the first appearance of a character. A characters second appearance is not only a fun get, but sometimes very affordable. Sometimes not, therein is the chance to make your decision as an investor to jump in or not. We cannot make that decision for you, nor would we. We will simply guide you and the rest is up to you.

….and we implore you, please read or know the disclaimer before reading on. Thank you.

Journey Into Mystery #84 (1962) – Here’s the second Thor appearance. Cover credits; Jack Kirby/Joe Sinnott. Stan Lee writes. Also the first appearance of Jane Foster.

Flash #147 (1964) – With Zoom (Reverse Flash) doing so well on the television series, it would be a nice get right here with his second appearance.

Amazing Spider-Man #38 (1966) – Mary Jane’s second appearance. It also happens to be the last Steve Ditko issue.

Strange Tales #127 (1964) – InvestComics informed readers many years ago about the first appearance of villain Dormammu before the Doctor Strange movie ever came to fruition. Here is the second appearance.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 (1964) – Here’s another villain InvestComics touched upon as well, but still hasn’t come to light……yet. Check out Mysterio’s second appearance right here. This comic is also the first appearance of the Sinister Six.

New Mutants #88 (1990) – Cable will be hitting the big screen eventually. We all know his first appearance, here’s his second.

Strange Tales #111 (1963) – The Doctor Strange movie will be huge. Once again InvestComics gave readers a heads up way before the movie was ever spoken about, but now we’re letting you know that since the first appearance is out of reach a bit, why not go for a second appearance? Also the first appearance of Baron Mordo and Asbestos Man.

Daredevil #2 (1964) – This comic has TWO second appearances. First; the Daredevil Netflix series is hot hot hot. No telling where they will go with this character. Will there be a reboot movie with the current actor Charlie Cox? It would be a first within the comic book movie industry (modern) for a television superhero actor to make the leap. It seems fitting that Charlie Cox would make that leap to the big screen. Daredevil’s second appearance was in the second issue of his self titled book. A great book to own. This comic also holds the second appearance of Electro! A 4.5 graded on Ebay right now at $149 is a fantastic buy.

Zot (Movie/TV) This awesome 80’s comic was a hit. A Scott McCloud creation would look fantastic on either the big or small screen.
*First appeared in Zot #1 (1984) from Eclipse Comics. The series lasted 36 issues. Also check out a rare appearance in Image Comics’ Savage Dragon #41 (1997). Actually, A LOT of rare appearances in that comic!

Jack of Hearts (Movie/TV/Toon/Game) Here is a long forgotten Marvel character that literally shines with expectation. The costume alone could get eyes glancing over to see what’s going on. An interesting player in the Marvel universe that would make for some fun screen time. A cartoon would be a as colorful as live action would. Make this happen Marvel.
*First appearance; The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #22 (1976). This was a Marvel magazine. Jack of Hearts’ first comic book appearance was in The Incredible Hulk #213 (1977). Jack of Hearts four issue limited series from 1984 is an easy get.

Quasar (Movie/TV) With Marvel’s cosmic universe on the doorstep of breaking out in a serious way on the big screen, why not have this forgotten cosmic character enter the fray? The character would make for a better weekly television series probably, but seeing him on the big screen would seem cool too.
*First appearance (Wendell Vaughn); The Incredible Hulk #234 (1979). Quasar’s first solo adventure came in 1989’s Quasar #1. It also happens to be an origin book.

Sunfire (Movie/TV/Toon) As Disney slowly takes complete creative control over Marvel Studios, we will see more female characters and cultural characters. A fantastic Japanese Marvel character to possibly go to would be Sunfire.
*First appearance; Uncanny X-Men #64 (1970).

Jack O’ Lantern (Movie/TV) Marvel’s pumpkin head character would make for an amazing yearly Halloween movie or television bit. Why not have this dude scare the daylights out of us every year in some sort of Halloween special? Have him face third rate Marvel characters and win! Halloween always wins on Halloween.
*First appeared in Machine Man #19 (1981). Cover by Frank Miller and Terry Austin. Oh yes, Legend Steve Ditko pencils and inks this bad boy. A book to own no matter what anyway!

Movie – TV – Toon #1

New to InvestComics? Please read the Disclaimer here before proceeding…

NOTE: This site is BEST viewed on Google Chrome.

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid right now.

Here’s a speculation article that will run periodically regarding which comics we feel should be the next to hit the movies, television or become an animated show. Will any of these comics see the light of day? Possibly. Possibly not. InvestComics throughout its years (10 years, longest running speculative website on the internet and the number one speculative website) has called a MANY comics (and characters) to hit the screen WAY before they were ever announced to do so. Guardians of The Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Warlock, Dormammu, Kick Ass, Thanos, Nemesis, Crossbones, just to name a few that have come to light and or will be coming. We’re not saying that these comics in these articles are guarantees to ever come to fruition, but these are our choices we feel deserve some airplay….in some form. Even a video game too.

Please realize that all of this is a speculative look at the hobby. Maybe some of these will become reality, maybe most of these won’t, but understand that this is pure speculation. Read the disclaimer. Read the disclaimer. Oh and read the disclaimer and please have fun.

Rom (Movie/Toon/Game) – Marvel Comics made the Rom toy a cult favorite comic book. Now IDW will pick up the mantle and start an entirely new race and galaxy realm without any Dire Wraiths (Marvel owns that). Although a Rom based movie would seem a bit campy probably to make, we thought that of the Transformers idea too, but that worked. Maybe an animated show would fair better here.
*Rom #1 (1979) Writer Bill Mantlo and art by Sal Buscema. Cover art by Joe Rubinstein and Fran Miller. 75 issues. Rom’s first venture ever outside of his book came in Power Man and Iron Fist #73 (1981). Cover by Frank Miller.

Power Pack (Movie/Game) – As InvestComics called this comic out back in 2010, who would have known Marvel Studios would report directly to Disney eventually? We did of course. Eventually Disney will take over complete creative control, so with that said we get Power Pack on this list. A made for movie comic book right in Disney’s wheelhouse. It’s probably a matter of WHEN this will get done, not a matter of IF.
*Power Pack #1 (1984) First appearance. Writer Louise Simonson and art by June Brigman. Cover art by June Brigman and Bob Wiacek. Lasted 62 issues.

Micronauts (Movie/Game) – This toy line went on to spawn a plethora of comic books from many different companies, but it’s Marvel Comics who got things started in 1979. A movie would seem a fantastic way to go here. Michael Bay?
*Micronauts #1; First appearance. Bill Mantlo writes, art work by Michael Golden. Cover by Dave Cockrum and Al Milgrom. Lasted 59 issues.

Moon Knight (Movie/TV/Game) – InvestComics has been on this character since the inception of the website 10 years ago. If there is one character we feel that will guarantee to breakout into its own movie or television series, this dude right here is it. (A rare thing to get any sort of guarantees here on InvestComics). Check out the ultimate Moon Knight checklist from InvestComics right HERE. You will not find a better list. We guarantee it.
*First appeared in Werewolf By Night #32 (1975). First solo comic; Marvel Spotlight #28 (1976).

Alpha Flight (Movie) – Canada’s bad as* team needs to get their due. An absolute breakout film if it would ever get done. This team is the real deal.
*First appearance was in Uncanny X-Men #120 (1979). Alpha Flight #1 (1983) was written by John Byrne, art by John Byrne and cover by Byrne and Terry Ausin. Lasted 130 issues. If Alpha Flight ever takes flight and makes it to the big screen, Alpha Flight #1 will be the equivalent of New Mutants #98 in the sense that although there is a major overprint run on the book, it’ll command big dollars in the aftermarket.

Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner (Movie) – No stranger to InvestComics readers here. covered a few times over the years (BEFORE Disney became the official bosses recently) that Disney has conquered land and space on the big screen. Just a matter of time before they hit one of their favorite places; water. So many successful films for the Mouse company taking place in the depths of water. How about that first live action water superhero movie Disney? It starts right here with Prince Namor. It has to.
*First appearance Motion Picture Funnies Weekly Volume 1 #1 (1939). Fantastic Four #4; first Silver Age Namor. Stan Lee writes, art by Jack ‘King’ Kirby and cover by Jack ‘King’ Kirby and Sol Brodsky. Just like InvestComics informed buyers to buy the first Inhumans at ANY grade in the past few years, buy this comic book at any grade, doesn’t matter. Buy it. The Sub Mariner #1 (1968) comic is definitely one to have in your collection once the movie finally comes to fruition. No doubt here (another guarantee). The series lasted 72 issues.

The Pro – (Movie/TV) Here is an awesome movie or HBO/AMC television show waiting to happen. A prostitute superhero tries to find her way within the grand scheme of things with a baby in tow. A cable comedy series that would kill. This comic story is not suitable for all readers. If you’re easily offended, this book is NOT for you. A movie here would be good, but leaving audiences wanting more probably, so a television series would be the better route here.
*The Pro (2002) from Image Comics; Written by Garth Ennis, art by Amanda Connor and cover by Connor/Jimmy Palmiotti.

Last week InvestComics pointed out a comic book based on a video game from publisher Cosmic Times and game developer Tunnel Ground Inc.; Void Of Heroes #1. This comic sold out on the distributor level as InvestComics pointed out as well, so this week Dark Horse comics gives us Mirrors Edge Exordium #1. A video game based comic book. Looks like a good read here.

Click the RED links or comic covers to purchase the comic on Ebay.

Valiant Entertainment continues on their torrid pace on delivering comic book story lines that actually matter and are not a convoluted mess. Be sure to check out their releases this week. Ninjak #7 and Unity #22. The Ninjak covers are killer this week too! Check some of those out in this article.

Three number one comics from IDW this week….IDW publishing has created a new team from a once super popular mobile game. Check out Super Angry Birds #1. It’s an all new angry birds “super angry” team. Also coming from IDW is Atomic Robo #1 and Tet #1.

Nothing to note with Bloodstrike #2 other than having to reminisce a bit from looking at that Rob Liefeld cover. Those were fun times and more fun times await with the new Bloodstrike series too.

Faster Than Light #1 from Image comics will probably sell out, get a copy before they are gone.

An interesting book called Head Lopper #1 from Image is worth a look.

Click the RED links or comic covers to purchase the comic on Ebay.

A new Star Wars comic this week; Darth Vader #9. InvestComics states to buy any and all new Star Wars comics that can be related somehow to the new Star Wars film in December. Star Wars Awakens Shattered Empire #1 will also be coming out this week. This will probably be a kick as* story. It takes place right after Return of the Jedi. Not too sure of what it will bring in terms of a speculation comic in the longer run. If the story introduces a character(s) you’ve never seen before, you have to be all over it. A bunch of variants on this one and none are sold out…..yet?

Quake gets her own book, because YOU demanded it! Well not really, but Marvel always seems to say that comic fans demand stuff. Quake S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1 is her book and Secret War #2 (2004) is her first appearance!
