Disney head Bob Iger fine with Sony keeping Spidey rights
The Disney President talks about the Marvel Acquisition and future of Marvel properties.
According to The Hollywood Reporter , Bob Iger, President and CEO of Disney, doesn’t mind if other companies continue making marvel movies. In particular, he said that it would be "just fine" for Sony to continue making Spider-Man movies, since Marvel handles the licensing for them and has a big character library.
He also highlighted the company’s plan to shine a brighter spotlight on Marvel, looking for growth for the already well-known brand. He would like to focus on lesser known characters, using the success of Iron Man as an example of creating surprisingly successful new franchises. He said that characters could be tested on Disney TV spots before being made into blockbuster movies.
