An oversized anniversary issue brings out some dramatic storytelling and talent. The monthly superstar creators on this book Charles Soule and Ron Garney deliver a ‘surprise ending’ that will shock readers. And as expected, a ton of variants to choose from. The Joe Quesada Daredevil #600 variant is the trending book to grab.
Speaking of crazy endings, Marvel promises a “a quadruple sized cliffhanger, you will not want to miss…” in Invincible Iron Man #600. The funny thing is, Invincible Iron Man #598 comes out this Wednesday with THAT very solicit about issue 600. Marvel churns up that hyper machine a bit early don’t they? Although they are saying too that Invincible Iron Man #598 will be leading into that comic, so get on board now I guess. Choo-choo! All-Aboard!
Damnation Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider #1; Writer Christopher Sebela and artist Phil Noto.
In what has become a regular thing with local comic shops regarding the weekly Avengers “No Surrender” storyline, most are limiting ONE copy per customer during the new release. The Hulk is back, and? What’s with the hype here for speculators forcing shops to limit one per customer almost every week with this comic? Avengers #686 gets a lot of attention this week and gets the ‘One Per’ tag underneath it at many shops.

Buy/Bid – Metal #6

Buy/Bid – Doomsday #4

Buy/Bid – Peek-A-Boo #1

Stabbity Bunny #3

DC Comics concludes their epic Metal run with Dark Nights Metal #6. This finale either paves the way to the “DC Cosmic Universe” or lends to it. Either way, this final issue is guaranteed to garner some steam.
Suicide Squad #38, ‘Tear Down The Wall’ part one. Writer Rob Williams, artist Jose Luis and Mick Gray.
As previous discussed within the confines of the InvestComics Hot Picks articles, delays kill. They kill momentum. Do fans still care about ‘Doomsday Clock’? Guess we’ll find out this Wednesday as it’s been over six(?) weeks or more since we left off with issue three. Sales and reaction regarding Doomsday Clock #4 this week will speak volumes coming back from a long delay.

InvestComics Indie Hot Picks; Indie comics do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after.
It’s no secret Scout Comics has a huge trending comic on their hands. Stabbity Bunny has grabbed the attention of readers and speculators alike. The release of Stabbity Bunny #3 will be no different then the previous two issues. It will sell out. Get your early. Oh yes, one more thing. Are you aware of the exclusive limited Stabbity Bunny #3 cover we’re giving away? It’s signed and remarked by creator/writer Richard Rivera. Go right HERE and grab the knowledge on how to enter. One more thing, at a recent show, Scout Comics gave InvestComics a peek into a lot of their future projects. Scout Comics is just scratching the surface here. Comic fans are in for some great product(s). This is not hyperbole.
Valiant Entertainment will going all in with their new Shadowman #1 release. A big market push by them is warranted. Star creator power Andy Diggle and Stephen Segovia add to the confidence level here. A ridiculously well told story along with superb art delivers this Shadowman series comic on a new level. Look for some trending tracks on this comic as interest starts to spread after readers get a hold of this one.
InvestComics Hot Picks already highlighted Zenescope’s Peek-A-Boo #1 (2 weeks ago?) as a release to check out. A delay pushed it back to this week. Now, the trend shows it’s just about sold out. Best get your copy if you can or you’ll be picking up that second print. Writer Joe Brusha introduces readers to his creepy horror world.
A new hit comic on the horizon for Black Mask. Check out Breathless #1. Creators Patrick Shand and Renzo Rodriguez.
Two new releases from Alterna Comics, Zero Jumper #1; Patrick Mulholland and Tinseltown #1; David Lucarelli and Henry Ponciano.
From Mad Cave Studios; Battlecats #1. Creators Mark London and Andy King.
Cyberforce #1 (Top Cow); creators Matt Hawkins, Bryan Hill and Atilio Rojo.
Crow Memento Mori #1 (IDW); creators Roberto Recchioni and Werther DellEdera.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Detective Comics #871 graded 9.6. It’s kind of a rare thing these days to get a JOCK signature. Anyone that follows InvestComics knows how much we love the artist Jock. We have an entire checklist of our favorite works by him right HERE. So this comic is a graded 9.6 with a Scott Snyder and a Jock signature. For only $99, this is a nice book.

Hold on folks, here come the DC Rebirth books. Be on the look out for first appearances. It only takes ONE to breakout and cause quite a stir in the aftermarket. Be on top of these good stories as DC breaths new life into their Rebirth era. Here are some highlights; Green Lanterns Rebirth #1 puts writer Geoff Johns back with artist Ethan Van Sciver on a Green Lantern book. These two make Lantern poetry together. “Newer” Green Lanterns Jessica Cruz (first appearance in Justice League #30 – 2014) and Simon Baz (First appearance was in The New 52 FCBD Special Edition #1 – 2012. First origin was in Green Lantern #0 – 2012) lead the charge here.

A mega four issue comic crossover happens all in one comic this week. Where you ask? Only one comic could pull this off, Deadpool #13. Duh! That Khoi Pham variant cover though…….
Marvel’s Civil War II officially gets under way this week. Civil War II #1 is solicited as “CLASSIFIED”. More of the same with Invincible Iron Man #10. Boy we hate that. Now we have to wait another week before finding out what is so “classified”. The Rafael Alburquerque hip hop cover is dope though. We’ll just stare at that until Wednesday’s new comic book day.

Welcome to the InvestComics Hot Picks for New Comic Releases on 10-2-13

The DC 3D madness is finally over! Rejoice and collect your monies in the aftermarket because interest will wane very quickly. In actuality it already has! Prices have been coming down at a rapid rate and if you haven’t sold yet, you may be late to the party. As already told here on InvestComics Hot Picks, you had to watch the 3D market very closely because of the hype surrounding the comics. The gimmick was going to be short lived as there will be a couple of those rare variant 3D’s that will survive the aftermath of the collapse. The best investments should be held for all of those first appearances pointed out during the 3D run here on InvestComics. Picking up a few of those first appearances should ensure that if a few of these villains bust out, make a comeback, a name for themselves, become the next ‘Bane’ or ‘Venom’ character for a major character, you will own that first appearance and be ahead of the curve!

InvestComics Hot Picks 10-2-13

[scrollGallery id=309]

Besides the sold out gimmick of the 3D covers, DC does in fact have a hit on their hands. Forever Evil is in fact hitting a home run with fans alike. Forever Evil (2013DC) #2 is completely sold out this week across the board. The prize this week will be the Black & white variant. Grab this; sell it on Ebay for a 25% return or possibly more very easily; immediately. Do not hold onto these comics folks. These are not life changing altering moments within the DC Universe, barring of course plotlines we are not aware of! There are some great storylines going on within these pages, but nothing is foreseen to change the market value or demand to sustain the trend upwards.

A trend in the comic book solicits market also continues however in Green Lantern (2011 4th Series) #24 this week. The words uttered so many times “…nothing will be the same, WE MEAN IT!” have been spoken far too often, but we as fans eat it up! Check out what writer Robert Venditti will bring to the table. Oh yes and the solicit also makes another common reference; “Lanterns will die”. Looking forward to it!

Batman Black and White (2013) #2 will bring legendary artist Jim Steranko to a Bat book again. Mr. Steranko will provide the gorgeous cover for this wonderful new series this week. It’s amazing to note that this legend has never provided as much DC artistry over his career. He’s thought of more as a “Marvel” guy, but when he does pencil any DC hero/villain, people take notice! With Batman though, his first official Batman work came in 1998’s Batman Black & White hardcover. Hard to fathom that given the profound career, he added Batman to his resume in 1998! The Batman work came in form of a tip-plate within the hardcover. Awesome, amazing stuff here folks.

In wrapping up DC here, Movement (2013 DC) #5 will debut the group ‘Graveyard Faction-death for hire’. Two sold out Vertigo books come our way this Wednesday; Hinterkind (2013 DC/Vertigo) #1 and Witching Hour (2013 DC/Vertigo) #1. The pleasant surprise here has to be the sold out Witching Hour #1. As a $7.99/70 pager’ all things point to the awesomeness of Vertigo. Even though the trend of a new book debuting with a $7.99 price tag, it usually tends to make some collectors/readers a little apprehensive, it doesn’t matter here though. Fans know this is going to rock! All 70 pages…..

Marvel Comics brings back a Marvel Knights Spidey book this week. Hooray! Check out the almost sold out regular cover Marvel Knights Spider-Man (2013) #1 this Wednesday (Variant cover sold out). The first Spider-Man Knights came in the 2004 by the same title and lasted only 22 issues. Maybe this time we’ll buck that trend and go longer! With writer Matt Kindt and artist Marco Rudy on board, it looks like a success already! And with a new Marvel Knights book, comes a new Marvel Max book too! What a great week! Take a look at Fantomex Max (2013) #1 miniseries at your local shop this week. It probably won’t disappoint. If this feeler goes over well, and fans demand more Fantomex, you better already own New X-Men #128 (2002). This would be the first appearance of Fantomex. Another three Marvel titles are on the cusp of sellouts and collectors should be put on alert. Captain America Living Legend (2013) #1 will be the highest alert. With writer Andy Diggle/artist Adi Granov on board and the introduction of a villain named Volkov, look for a possible aftermarket bump here. Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble (2013) #1 is based on the animated television show, but it’s the bonus Lego Marvel Comic within the extra sized issue here that has InvestComics intrigued. DIGGLE/DANIEL to take over ACTION COMICS

Writer Andy Diggle and artist Tony Daniel will be taking over ACTION COMICS as of issue 18. Current writer Grant Morrison will be leaving, presumably to work on the recently touted and long awaited MULTIVERSITY, with Frank Quitely and the Charlton heroes on the first arc.  The Promo art features Superman in the black uniform, which appears to be his same new 52 Kryptonian armor/body suit, which has the ability to change color and design. It was also seen in ACTION COMCIS #0, when a fully grown Superman was shown to somehow be on Krypton at the asme time as infant Kal-El. Superboy was also seen on Krypton in SUPERGIRL #0, so maybe Diggle and Daniel’s run will include that story.

Here’s the release from DC’s Blog page.

Next spring, ACTION COMICS will come to you from an all-new creative team. Beginning with issue #18, writer Andy Diggle (THE LOSERS; GREEN ARROW: YEAR ONE) and artist Tony Daniel (DETECTIVE COMICS; JUSTICE LEAGUE) will be bringing you the Man of Steel’s adventures in the acclaimed series.

“I’ve always had a positive experience working with DC Comics, and it’s amazing to be welcomed back into the fold in such fine style,” Diggle told THE SOURCE. “Even in an industry dominated by superheroes, Superman is THE superhero – the original and best – and I’m flattered, daunted and inspired in equal measure at being given the opportunity to build on such an incredible and historic legacy. The word ‘iconic’ is bandied around a lot in comics, but Superman defines the term. I’m excited to be working with Tony Daniel, whose artistic and storytelling skills will be bringing the world(s) of Superman to stunning visual life. Together we’ll be carving out spectacular new adventures that respect the past while redefining the future of the Man of Steel.”

“First, let me say that I am really excited to be working with Andy Diggle on ACTION COMICS,” continued Daniel. “Superman is a character I’ve wanted to work on for quite a while now and I’m now very fortunate to be given this tremendous opportunity to work with such an iconic character. I look forward to drawing each and every character in Superman’s universe. I anticipate this being a fun ride for me and hopefully for Superman fans as well. I can’t wait to get Andy’s first script and sharpening my pencils! Thank you everyone for your support of my work on BATMAN and DETECTIVE COMICS over the years. I already miss the Dark Knight, but I look forward to starting anew with the Man of Steel in ACTION COMICS. I hope to see you all in Metropolis!”

ACTION COMICS #18 is due out in March.

X-Men Noir number one sold out instantly last week with a second print right behind it. So what should Marvel do about the success? Well…. just go to your flagship character and put the word ‘Noir’ in it!….

Marvel goes with Spider-Man Noir number one this week and fans will eat this up like they did with the X-Men. The regular cover to this week Spider-Man Noir is by artist Patrick Zircher and it totally rocks. Marvel has their new niche and the name is Noir. Come inside this weeks Hot Picks and browse around……

 Spider-Man Noir #1

greatestamericanhero.jpgGreatest American Hero #1 Way back in the 80’s The Greatest American Hero was a television show that saw the shelf rather quickly. On the contrary, this comic will not stay on the shelf. If you were around to remember that show, I apologize to you. If you weren’t, well now you get to enjoy a very silly superhero show in comic book format. Silly things usually become hits, so this comic will probably hit the ground running. If this comic is as catchy as the theme song, that’ll be a great thing. Greatest American Hero did in fact have some sort of cult following and those particular fans are going to make you buy this book. They really are, for real, you’ll see!

moonknight25.jpg

Moon Knight #25 Bullseye VS Moon Knight and only one will survive! Marvel is getting a bit silly with the death and dramatics. This comic is probably a big pass, but you never know. Flip through it at your lcs and see what is going on in these pages. Probably a big fat nothing here……

mightyavengers20.jpgMighty Avengers #20 Witness the darkest day in the Avengers according to Marvel. They also say that there a SHOCKING ending that no one will see coming. What haven’t we all seen that could be so shocking now? Guess we’ll have to wait until Wednesday to find out!

thunderbolts127.jpgThunderbolts #127 Norman Osborn is assembling the new Thunderbolts team. Jump on board as writer Andy Diggle is really starting to turn things around here.

thorgodsized1.jpg

Thor God Sized #1 Marvel really is making up for some lost time when Thor wasn’t around for a year. Every week it seems as though another Thor comic is hitting the stands. Thor is awesome though, not complaining, just observing! This comic not double sized, it’s not king sized, not even triple sized……Marvel is calling it God sized. Hopefully we get a bible sized comic when we go in on Wednesday on the OLD comic book print paper! Lets all pray together now…….

Here are some other comics to check out before you walk out of that door………
