Deadpool Too Soon #1 – Deadpool puts together his own team this week. Not of the villain psychopath kind though. His team consist of Squirrel Girl, Rocket Raccoon, Howard The Duck, Ant-Man, Groot and the Punisher. Maybe not the most sane bunch, but a team only fitting for Deadpool.

Archie #13 – The arrival of the new Cheryl Blossom.

Mighty Thor #12 – Think you know anything about hammers? Well maybe you do, maybe you don’t, but this Wednesday you’ll get an origin story of Thor’s hammer; The Mighty Mjolnir!

Green Lanterns #9 – This issue begins the epic story line involving the newest Lantern ring that first appeared a few issues prior in Green Lanterns #6. ‘The Phantom Ring’ part 1 starts this week.

We were at New York Comic Con this past week. Below is a snippet video of our press coverage. We had tremendous coverage (as we always do) on all of our social media outlets, but we always make these videos every year when we come back for our fans. Enjoy!

**Please, if you are a new reader or a regular reader of this article and have not seen or read the disclaimer, we urge you to read it (link provided above and tab on top of site).

NOTE. Please understand that when InvestComics releases the Hot Picks article on Friday that many of the independent comics may not be available on Ebay yet. Most of the time, some of the more obscure titles make their way onto Ebay later on in the week or right on/at/before new comic book day on Wednesday. Be sure to check back and click the links or cover(s) to see if the books you want have been listed on Ebay. They usually show up, so be sure to check back!

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Swamp Thing #6 CGC graded 9.0 (1973). Anytime a collector is able to purchase a 9.0 signed book from a LEGEND such as Bernie Wrightson, there should be absolutely no hesitation in buying that book. Here, case in point is a Swamp Thing #6, CGC graded 9.0 for $99 Buy It Now with a Bernie Wrightson signature. There is no question that a collector must have this in their collection. Then check out one of our first InvestComics Creator Spotlights; Bernie Wrightson (click image below). We released this back in early 2015 with the release of our new site, so don’t mind the messiness in the article, just buy things from this creator, he’s a LEGEND. That’s it. Nuff said.

Once in while on new comic book Wednesday there is a comic that we know we’re about to tout with great glee. This week is one of those times. A story line that will aim to please and will have speculators peeking in as well. Batman #9 is the book that collectors need to check out this Wednesday. It’s the first part of a story line named “I Am Suicide.” We love that title. This title is a prologue on what is to come. Batman has to break into Arkham Asylum to retrieve one of his greatest adversaries ever; Bane. The reasoning is to recruit a few of his foes to form his very own Suicide Squad to rescue Gotham Girl and Psycho-Pirate. The modern day Batman Suicide Squad team starts right here. You really need to get in on the ground floor and that ground floor starts in this issue.

Green Lanterns #6 debuted the most powerful ring of all; the Phantom Ring. This Wednesday in Green Lanterns #9 “The Phantom Ring” part one!

So many delays, puts the Dark Knight III series into the “oh is that coming out this month? I didn’t know that.” phase. Dark Knight III The Master Race #6 makes it to the new comics shelf this week with the tag line “Is Gotham ready for the new Batgirl?” Here’s a better question “Does anyone care at this point?” Delays and too much time between books kills momentum and interest.

What is it with the names of some of the new comics these days? Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye #1? Okay. Why not just Cave Carson #1? So pretentious, no?

Marvel will put out an origin story about a hammer. Not just any hammer of course. Thor’s hammer: The Mighty Mjolnir. Check out the hammer story in Mighty Thor #12. We bet no one (most no one) at Home Depot or Lowes knows about this hammer.

The latest Marvel Comics sensation is Deadpool Back In Black. This week, Deadpool Back In Black #2 comes out and it will sell out like the first issue did. There will probably be a lower print run (obviously) of the second issue, so get on this if you want a first print. The Ron Lim Venompool cover is solid, but it’s the Salva Espin homage cover of Amazing Fantasy #15 with Power Pack (and a clown!) that wins. Anyone remember what InvestComics has said about Power Pack over the past few years?? Since 2010. We actually touched on it more recently; InvestComics Hot Picks #437 (August). Yes it will probably happen eventually, you’ll see. Just remember to give us credit and not to be such a nerd and take the credit. Thanks!

[paypal_donation_button border=”5″] Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

Sticking with Deadpool, he seems to be following in the footsteps of Batman in the gathering/assembling of a team in Deadpool Too Soon #1. The difference between him and Bats’ team is that his team does not consist of a bunch of adversaries. Squirrel Girl, Rocket Raccoon, Howard The Duck, Ant-Man, Groot and the Punisher join forces. Like we always say, we don’t make this stuff up, we just report it.

Captain America Sam Wilson #14 features the villain Flag-Smasher smashing things up! A ridiculously beautiful cover by Marcos Martin adds to the awesomeness here. The hash tag movement Marvel is trying to start is right there on the cover for fans to see, #TakeBackTheShield. So what are you waiting for?? Start the hash tag movement! Oh and the most recent Flag-Smasher character first appeared in Deadpool #43 (2015).

Fans will learn more about Alice in A-Force #10. Alice first appeared in the previous issue; A-Force #9 and made a photo cameo in A-Force #8. That’s your Alice roundup!

Doctor Doom becomes Iron Man for the first time in Infamous Iron Man #1. Lots of pointless variants accompany this one.

Chapter House Publishing turns up creative firepower this Wednesday with two amazing Archie Comics creators debuting a new series. Die Kitty Die #1 with be brought to you by writers Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz and Artist Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz! Want more repeating? Okay. Look for great interest here as Chapter House Publishing knows how to put a product together very well and the creators are veterans that know how to put a product together very well. Told you we’d do that, now go out and check this comic out.

Cheryl Blossom makes her debut in the new Archie Comics universe. Check out Archie #13 for the vixen known as Cheryl Blossom!

Brian Pulido’s Lady Death character has been around for 25 years now! First debuting in Evil Ernie #1 (1991) from Eternity Comics. This week’s Lady Death Extinction Express #1 will introduce a new character named Chaotica. Coffin Comics tells us that this character will be a major player in Lady Death’s universe.

Here are some other indie comics to check out this Wednesday! Spell On Wheels #1 (Dark Horse). Lord Of Gore #1 (Devils Due Publishing) features a Hack/Slash variant cover from Tim Seeley. Love and Rockets #1 (Fantagraphics).

A potentially light week as far as the speculation side goes, plenty of great reading ahead. Although there is one speculation comic that will make up for the entire week this Wednesday…..

There will not be a bigger book this week. Batman #43 is where it’s at. Guarantee it. No way. Scott Synder and Greg Capullo introduce a new villain into Batman’s life this Wednesday, Mr. Bloom. We all know what happens when these two creative minds get together within these pages right? The villain is right there on the cover too. No cameo, little panel, a hand, no this dude is right there in plain sight. Although there are two other variants, the Mr. Bloom cover makes for an attractive collectors piece. He only graces the regular cover and not the others. A better resell with the character on the cover like that. Bottom line here, Mr. Bloom will be blooming in the aftermarket on Wednesday and thereafter. A seriously big book this week.

Independent publisher Action Lab Entertainment making some noise this Wednesday. Archon Battle of the Dragon #1 and F1rst Hero Fight For Your Life #1 are both sold out. Speaking of sold out, but not sold out….YET, From Titan Comics, Doctor Who Event 2015 Four Doctors #1. Doctor Who fans will be all over this.

Howard_the_Duck_1_InvestComicsSo what makes Detective Comics Endgame #1 more of a standout than Howard the Duck #1 this week? Why even compare them really? No reason, just because. Well maybe because Marvel is pushing this C list character down our throats with ten variants at last count? And the Detective book has one awesome regular cover. Of course the comic book collecting life isn’t all about cover though, right? It is in fact though the first appealing thing one sees, so the marketing must captivate the eye and sell it first. Make that person WANT to pick up that comic. So I ask the question, one sees all bazillion of the Howard the Duck #1 variants and then one sees the Detective Comics Endgame #1 sitting on the shelf. Besides your shop having your books displayed in alphabetical order, in which the first book you probably will see is the Batman book, which would you be so inclined to pick up and thumb through first? Maybe some do pick up the Howard book first, but the majority will probably gravitate towards that awesome Rafael Albuquerque cover for Detective Comics Endgame #1. Well that’s all about the outside, what about the inside? One book is about a Private Investigator that is a umm….a duck and the other is about a new group of teenagers kicking some as* in Gotham to save it from being overrun by Jokerized victims. Maybe you still like the Howard book. The Howard book will be a fun read though, so get it for at least that reason! Both are cool. So don’t get all hurt that I’m not that high on the Howard book. Speculation = opinion.

Detective_Comics_Endgame_1_InvestComics Avengers_195_InvestComics

Not that owning the Fear #19 (1976) book (first appearance of Howard the Duck) is a bad thing, but if you’re in the market to buy a good first appearance for $250 or $500 dollars, there are other books to seriously consider. Ask yourself this. Would Disney really want to jeopardize/replace the lure of Donald Duck with a wise cracking, cigar smoking duck? I highly doubt they want to throw Howard in our faces as the duck to really remember and constantly have questions from children to adults saying, “Is that Donald Duck?”. Um no. Disney would not want this. Why do you think there is no real talk about a cartoon or a movie pertaining to Howard? For this reason. Too close to Donald. Maybe someday Disney will bite the bullet and release a Howard cartoon or movie, but as for right now it’s not happening. Maybe a Howard the Duck comic book is a feeler to see what sort of attention it gets? Then maybe we’ll get some real news of something? This speculator doesn’t think we’ll see anything for some time. The Donald lure is way more important to Disney right now than destroying the very fabric of Disneyland or anything pertaining to Donald with people constantly mistaking Donald for Howard. By Avengers_196_InvestComicscomparison, will we ever see a nasty mouse character created within the Marvel U that looks very similar to the Big Mouse with an attitude and possible cigar? The short answer is no. Howard will stay where he is right now and Disney is very content with that. Buy Detective Comics Endgame #1, looks like a winner. (Not that many floating on Ebay right now. Click the link and get yours if you want it!). Story sounds good, good creative team, possible intro to a new team and that cover……

CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay.Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

Instead of paying so much for a Fear #19 comic, why not check out who Ant-Man is dealing with in Ant-Man #3. Although Taskmaster is not in comparison to Howard as far as notability and pricing as far as first appearances go, his (cameo) in Avengers #195 from 1980 is a nice book. Recommended by InvestComics a few years ago when it was a $7 book, it has since climbed into a decent area and is still very affordable at this point. His first “full appearance” is in Avengers #196. Rumors surround Taskmaster as a possible movie appearance from time to time as does the possible breakout ability he has as well. Nothing of either end really….yet? Either way, InvestComics is still high on this comic after years of recommending it. Be sure to click the RED link to bounce over to Ebay (it’ll open in a new window, leaving your page right here!) to throw a bid down or a buy it now. A George Perez book with upside here. Be forewarned, various grades and pricing on Ebay for Avengers #195 are very sporadic.

Bloodshot_6_InvestComics Ninjak_1_InvestComicsDepending on how long you’ve been a speculator, you will remember the Valiant comics craze. Ask a seasoned veteran about the ridiculous Valiant pricing at one time and listen to how many people lost a tremendous amount of money in these books. Now flash to 2015 and you will see that the speculator just ain’t going for that again! Many new Valiant comics have gotten a new life (relaunched) on the label, but the back issue market for these books from which these characters first appeared have done nil. So with that, Ninjak #1 will reappear in his own title. Ninjak first appeared in Bloodshot #6 back in 1993. If you click the red link here, that Bloodshot #6 (see the red link again!) can be yours, a NM for only $1.79. My my, how times have changed.

As there is most weeks, there is always an Image Comic to keep an eye out on. This week it’s Southern Cross #1. (Only 10 of these now on Ebay with a couple of variants). An interesting story with only one variant cover to show for. The variant is from Tula Lotay. She’s been around a couple of years, but is making her presence known. Watch for this newbie as she comes up the ranks with the Babs Tarr’s, Stacey Lee’s, Fiona Staples‘ of the world. Notice a trend here? Just saying. And very awesome.

Arkham_Knight_1.InvestComicsA video game adaptation comics really surmount to much within the aftermarket, but they are still great nonetheless. Check out the new Batman Arkham Knight #1 as it leads up to the new video game release. The Gary Frank variant is sold out already. It is a beauty too! Get it on Ebay right now if you want! That Red Link! Helping everyone out here!

The Disney spiteful demise of the Fantastic Four comic is almost here. The next to last issue promises lots of cool things. Fantastic Four #644; the end is near.

CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay.Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

Spider-Gwen will continue her “torrid” pace of popularity this week. Will number two sell out too? How long will the madness for Edge of Spider-Verse #2 continue for? (Insert sarcasm here) Only 230 listings at the present moment. Will Spider-Gwen be the next Harley? Will she be the Howard the Duck? Time will tell! And speaking of Spider-Verse, Amazing Spider-Man #16 name drops Spider-Verse within its solicit this week. Anything going to pop up here? Will Marvel ever let Spider-Verse go already? Spidey also has Amazing Spider-Man Special #1 coming out. Cool read here, nice Adam Kubert variant and who knows what can pop up here too?

Check out the pages of Ms. Marvel #13, may have an intro. Cool book anyways.

A few number one issues to definitely check out this week. Surface #1 from Image Comics. Spawn fans rejoice, Spawn Resurrection #1 will not only be a new beginning, but a Todd McFarlane variant will come along for the ride. The wildly successful Sixth Gun will begin anew with Sixth Gun Dust to Dust #1. Creator Cullen Bunn of this series also has another book coming this week; Hellbreak #1. Great stuff here. Bill and Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #1 from Boom Studios is a fun book. Bill and Ted originally made their comic book debut in 1989’s Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure Movie Adaptation #1 from DC Comics.

Postal #2 from Image hits this week with a very cool variant. Postal #1 showed some nice sales. Will the series pick up some more steam?

Bullying_InvestComicsInvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 1/7/15

If there is one comic you will buy this week it should be Avengers No More Bullying (2014) #1. Not because of the monetary value it brings, but because of the value of life it could bring. Being a statistic of bullying in my life, I cannot stress this enough to buy this comic and share it with your children. Teach them that bullying is unacceptable. Teach them they are not alone. Even if you do not have children, buy it and give it to a child you may know. Buy a few copies and give it to a teacher you may know at a school. Give some to your neighbors who have children, I don’t care. Saving one child’s life due to bullying is a win. Kudos to Marvel for doing this project. It’s a tremendously important topic that needs more addressing. Please buy this. Share it, give it away, pass it on.

A new year means a new beginning. In the case of the comic book world, a new beginning many of us were not really asking for, but we’re receive anyway. Ant-Man (2014 Marvel) #1 will bring Scott Lang (aka Ant-Man) front and center. The comic will come complete with its ridiculous 8 variant covers, which will not be worth squat in the long run. Do not get caught up in the variants here, you will lose money. Get a high grade/signature series and dump it while it’s hot for a little while.

Ant_Man_InvestComics Marvel_Premiere_47_InvestComicsSo not only did fans not ask for this comic, but the movie as well. Not so much asking per say, but a demand. The Ant-Man movie will probably do well (maybe), but what if it doesn’t? Here’s the thing folks, when will the Marvel Studios winning streak stop? Not trying to be a negative Nancy here, just a realist. One of these years, Marvel will not make back its money from one of their films. What happens then? The mouse will not be a happy camper that’s for sure. Disney likes money and their Marvel cash cow is making them tons of it. A clunker means what then? A slowdown on the comic book movie production maybe? Everyone (Fanboys especially) can pretend that every Marvel movie will be a hit, but no one is talking about what if they actually fail to reach the audience or actually have a movie the majority of moviegoers do not embrace? Once the first failure comes into play, the comic book market will change drastically. Many collectors have paid top dollar for a Marvel Premiere #47 (1979); the first appearance of the NEW Ant-Man (Scott Lang) and that seems to be a big risk to this speculator. A second rate character that never commanded the spotlight, but yet is being forced into one. Here’s the only way your Marvel Premiere #47 will get you a return. First, the movie has to show substantial gains and even then it does not equate to a big return. The second and more important trend to follow with Ant-Man is whether he will be on the new Avengers team after or during the Avengers Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 2018/2019. Will Phase 3 for Marvel lead into a new Avengers team? Robert, Chris, Scarlet, Mark, Samuel and the gang will not stay on forever. Will Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Ms. Marvel and Ant-Man make up for most of the new team? So if Scott Lang is to stick around for a while and play a major role within the Marvel Studio films, complete with toys and promotion, Marvel Premiere will hold its value. If Scotty is left by the wayside, a one and done, a poor showing at the ticket booth, well then Ant-Man is back to being, dare I say it? Small.

Marvel_Super_Heroes_1_InvestComics Squirrel_Girl_InvestComicsHere’s a mind boggling back issue I completely don’t understand. I urge anyway to please fill me in because I probably missed something. Marvel Super-Heroes #8 (1991). What is it with the first appearance of Squirrel Girl? A 9.8 signature series is at a buy it now price of $380?? What? Why?? Raw NM copies are selling for $90 or above. What gives here anyway? The only redeeming value I see is that Steve Ditko was the co-creator of the character. Yes THE Steve Ditko drew, wrote and inked the short story. With that, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (2014) #1 debuts this Wednesday. Squirrel Girl’s first solo comic. That’s 24 years in the making. Look for the comic to sell out and get any of the variants signed and graded. If the new solo series takes off, look for Marvel Super-Heroes #8 to be an even more expensive get. This could be the next big female character aftermarket book.

InvestComics has been telling you for months about Spider-Verse. We got you the hot Gwen Stacy book and we will continue to inform collectors that they need to pick up every Spider-Verse book that comes out. There are simply too many Feathers_InvestComics Original_Sin_5_InvestComics
Easter eggs and introductions happening that it’s a good idea to just get this wonderful story. This week
Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #12 and Spider-Man 2099 (2014 2nd Series) #7 will continue the Spider-Verse saga. Read it and love it.

Operation Sin (2014 Marvel) #1 will focus its spotlight onto Woodrow McCord. Just in case this dude turns out to be an important player down the rode someday, you’ll want to get Original Sin #5 as that’s his first appearance.

Spider_2099_InvestComicsFans of the steampunk lure will have to grab a copy of Steam Tales (2014 Antarctic Press) #1. It’s sold out. Other great reads/number one issues to check out this week; Ixth Generation (2014 Image) #1, Feathers (2014 Boom) #1, and Wolverines (2014 Marvel) #1.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem.

Ant-Man, Doctor Strange confirmed for MARVEL “Phase 3” Movies

In an interview with MTV,  Marvel’s Kevin Feige discussed the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe’s “Phase 3” which include the previously announced Edgar DEFEND2011012Wright production of ANT-MAN:

“‘Ant-Man’ is definitely part of Phase Three,” Marvel’s Kevin Feige told MTV News during our recent interview. “Like ‘Iron Man 3,’ it’s certainly set in the Marvel Universe, but it’s also through the lens of Edgar Wright — which is the only reason we’re making the movie.”

“I’ve known Edgar since our first lunch together at Comic-Con in 2004,” he continued. “He asked me what Marvel was doing with ‘Ant-Man’ — we weren’t even a studio then; what a difference eight years makes! It’s very much an ‘Ant-Man’ origin movie from the perspective of Edgar Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish. It will of course be firmly planted in the MCU, but a different corner than we’ve seen before.”

And the often considered DOCTOR STRANGE:

“‘Doctor Strange,’ which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them,” he confirmed. “He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is ‘Ant-Man,’ which keeps us excited.”

Both characters have ties to THE AVENGERS teams, but considering both films would be produced AFTER Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS sequel, it’s too early to tell if they will ever be included in further Avengers films. Though, Marvel’s movie-verse is all about cameos, cross-overs, and shared universe tie-ins.

Out of all of the comic book movies we hear of coming our way, only one (maybe 2) make us all wait like that 8 year old child on Christmas Eve with the butterflies all tangled up in the gut. Thor will come upon us in 2011, while 2012 brings the Avengers. One could only hope that the end of the world doesn’t come early to spoil the Avengers fun. The anticipation of watching Thor lay down his hammer to the ground, striking it with the power of thunder, watching the ground reverberate and then watching the ground and every living thing around it succumb to nothingness will be astounding. Yes we’ll get the image of the hammer in the air on top of a mountain shot, yes we’ll get the whirl and throw as Thor takes flight, but nothing will beat that fury when he’s had enough and lays the God of law down. It’s going to be movie magic like never seen before. Thor is a badas*, always has been and always will be. Now we all finally get to witness it first hand in a live action epic movie. What could possibly be better than this you ask? Well, the Avengers movie. To have the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America on the same screen at the same time is a comic book fans dream. The biggest question mark remains, will this movie be done ‘right’? It probably will be. If you look at the other ‘team’ movie the X-Men, it wasn’t until the third movie where things really started going wrong with that franchise. The very first X-Men movie was the best one, the introduction of characters, the structure of story and a nice balance of character development. For the reasons the first X-Men movie succeeded will not be the same reason the Avengers movie will supersede it. The X-Men movie did not have the introduction of characters in their own films before the movie came out. People will have a very good general knowledge of the characters like Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, etc. when the Avengers movie hits. So what you didn’t like the Hulk movie or maybe even Iron Man, but they are not going to be the headliner here. They ALL are, so if you don’t like a certain character, you could just eat your popcorn, roll your eyes and wait for your main guy or gal to come on. Didn’t most of us do this with Wolverine in the X-Men movie?
Captain America is the leader of the Avengers, so his movie “should be” very fine tuned. He is the lead character of the Avengers film and his movie “should be” the best of all the solo Avenger movies. Although, Thor will probably be better, but who cares really? We’re going to be getting a true live action Captain America movie! How great is this?? One of the probable reasons that Cap will be a good movie and not a great one is the overseas worry in releasing an “American War Hero” in today’s political climate. It might not seem like a big deal to anyone here in the states, but even Hollywood did say that this will pose for a slight problem and they do recognize that America is not exactly on top of the ‘like list’ these days with many countries. So with that, we as an audience could suffer a bit if Hollywood decides to make too much “nice” in order to attract the overseas market. Thus, Thor will be a better movie; no one in Asgard will have to worry about offending or making amends. Besides Norman is about to get his as* handed to him by Asgard (Siege), so we’ll let him deal with them.

With the excitement of all of the solo Avenger movies coming, there is also excitement in looking at where all of these characters were first seen on the pages of a comic book. The very first time the Avengers appeared as a team was Avengers #1 from 1963. This comic could fetch at least $9000 or higher depending on the condition. It’s a classic issue brought to you by to classic creators, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Surprisingly there aren’t that many key issues in the Avengers run. One of the best standouts in the run comes in with Avengers #4. This issue was the first Silver Age Captain America coming in at a $5000 price tag, grab this one right now. Avengers #57 gives us the first Vision. If Vision is a part of the Avengers movie, (probably not, but wishful thinking) this comic will be gaining some exposure. Vision would really translate nicely to the big screen. One could only hope that he’ll make an appearance. This comic is only in the $100 range. The last of the best Key issues in the original Avengers run has to go to issue #71. The first Invaders appearance at a cost of $75.
As far as the actual Avengers team members, we’re talking a little more cash, but these comics are the cream of the crop. These are comics that will in fact appreciate in value within time with no sign of any downside. While the Avengers have a ton of members that have come and gone, 84 to be exact at last count. Let’s focus on some of the bigger ones that have already been mentioned in this article as well as some others.
Thor, first appeared in Journey into Mystery #83 in 1962. The classic Kirby/Sinnott cover alone is nothing short of beauty here. The going price is about $15,000 and shows no signs of slowing down. If you’re in the market for another key Thor issue that has a tremendous upside and is undervalued at the moment, look for Thor #126. It’s been recommended on InvestComics quite a few times now over the years and since it was first mentioned in 2007; it’s gone up in value about 9% in each of those years. Might not sound like retirement money (Public service announcement! Please don’t think you could retire collecting comic books, nor send your kids to college). Although 9% may not sound like a lot to some people, it’s a nice return over a 15 year span if you hold on to this comic. Thor #126 currently comes in at only $450!! This comic is basically the very first Thor solo comic, a Thor #1 issue if you will. In issue #125 of Journey into Mystery with Thor, Marvel decided to drop the “Journey” name and simply call it Thor with the next issue. This is the most “affordable” recommended buy right now in the InvestComics portfolio. You cannot go wrong with buying this issue. The Thor movie is going to explode, get in on the Thor craze now before the hammer becomes a regular toy item for every boy to have in their toy chest. Thor #126 is THE buy here folks. Sticking with Thor and Journey into Mystery, check out Journey into Mystery #85. This issue is the first appearance of Loki and cameo of Odin. This comic is only $2500 at the moment. Look for the popularity to increase after the Thor movie comes out.
The big Green guy, Hulk first appeared in his self titled comic; Incredible Hulk #1. This also came out in 1962. There isn’t really much to say, except that for $70,000 it gets you ownership here. So put that Red Hulk nonsense down and start saving, because at 70k this is a nice deal. You probably could buy this comic right now in the 45k range in the right circumstances.

Click on any RED link or comic cover in the article to buy/bid on the comic right now from ALL available sellers on Ebay.
Iron Man first appeared in Tales of Suspense #39. This first appearance will cost you about $20,000. Robert Downy Jr. will be doing his thing in Iron Man 2, but look for this to climb in value as the Avengers movie gets closer. It’s not going to happen with the Iron Man sequel.
Now we have come to the biggest star of them all, Captain America. Way back, almost 70 years ago, that’s right 70 years ago Steve Rogers first appeared in Captain America Comics #1. Almost right smack in the middle of WWII we received the greatest solider the world has ever seen. Steve Rogers; the American Super Solider will cost about $140,000 to buy. Although very pricey to most, it’s an issue that will forever be as valuable as Action Comics #1. A true American Icon of American Comics will never fail in the value of collecting, whether it’s emotional value or monetary value.
Speaking of value, check out 2 issues later in Captain America #3 for Stan Lee’s first work. How cool is that?? This comic is worth about $35,000. Owning this comic means that you own a piece of history. Without Stan, the superhero climate in the Marvel Universe looks vastly different. Wouldn’t say it doesn’t exist, just saying that Spidey maybe isn’t the Spidey we know, Fantastic Four aren’t who they are, etc.

As said earlier, there have been many Avengers (approx. 84) that have graced the pages of the awesome run. A few other Avengers have had their names mentioned to appear in the Avengers Movie, one of them is set to appear in the Iron Man sequel. This character also is probably going to be the front runner to get his own movie as a result of his popularity. Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye will be a nice addition to the Iron Man film if they fit him in. If not, he will be in the Avengers movie. Too much talk about this guy appearing in one of these films if not both. Lots of times they say a character will appear in a movie, but they somehow end up on the cutting room floor. Cutting Clint out of the Iron Man 2 movie would be a travesty. It would be neat to see a hero in that movie that isn’t behind an iron suit. War Machine will be awesome, so will Iron Man, but throw Hawkeye with them and you have awesomeness. A great buy goes out to Tales of Suspense #57 (1964) for only $800. A $500 bill will probably get a deal done. Pick this up because with an appearance in Iron Man 2 the interest will start right there. The Avengers movie will thrust more interest on the Hawkeye character; don’t sit too long on buying his first appearance. Another Avenger mentioned is Ant-Man. He first appeared in Tales to Astonish #27 (1958). Talks of a solo movie for Ant-Man dried up mainly because the interest wasn’t there for the studio. This issue will run you about $8000. A few issues later in Tales to Astonish #44 (1959) came Wasp. This female hero will not amount to much in the Avengers Movie even if she does appear. It’s not a home run with this character nor is the investment. $475 is the going tag on Wasp. Pick it up for $400 at the right place, right time and plan on a very long hold pattern as far as Investment value goes on this one.
