Justice League United #15 will team 4 groups together for the first time in one book. Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace, Creature Commandos, and OMAC. Great reading here!

Speaking of a great read, check out Superman American Alien #1. This comic will have writer Max Landis teaming with several of the industries superstars for a seven issue series chronicling Clark Kent as a youngster and then working all the way up to Superman. The series is said to be a look as we’ve never seen before, so we are excited. The first issue will be illustrated by Nick Dragotta of East of West. Fantastic Ryan Sook cover too.

Vertigo’s new mini-series; Slash and Burn #1 should be on your reading list this week.

Not too sure how the conservatives or politically correct will handle the title of the new Image Comic; The Goddamned #1. Writer Jason Aaron probably has a hit book here regardless of what anyone thinks. Jock supplies a cool variant.

Jason Latour (Spider-Gwen) will guest pencil and write Southern Bastards #12.

Miles Morales will join the All new all different Avengers #1. Lets see how he is as a full time team player. Written by Mark Waid and drawn by Adam Kubert. The Jim Cheung hip hop cover is our favorite. This series will do well.

All new Wolverine #1 will have X-23 as the main character. Her first appearance was in NYX #3 (2004). X-23 was hot for a while there a few years back. She cooled off and then she fell into obscurity. Not anymore! The regular cover and the hip hop variant are the best covers.

A potentially light week as far as the speculation side goes, plenty of great reading ahead. Although there is one speculation comic that will make up for the entire week this Wednesday…..

There will not be a bigger book this week. Batman #43 is where it’s at. Guarantee it. No way. Scott Synder and Greg Capullo introduce a new villain into Batman’s life this Wednesday, Mr. Bloom. We all know what happens when these two creative minds get together within these pages right? The villain is right there on the cover too. No cameo, little panel, a hand, no this dude is right there in plain sight. Although there are two other variants, the Mr. Bloom cover makes for an attractive collectors piece. He only graces the regular cover and not the others. A better resell with the character on the cover like that. Bottom line here, Mr. Bloom will be blooming in the aftermarket on Wednesday and thereafter. A seriously big book this week.

Superman may have the same scenario brewing. DC says Superman faces a new threat lurking in the shadows in Action Comics #43. Let’s all read and find out who or what it is. And the same holds for Starfire #3. A new character appearance could be in here. The Darwyn Cooke variant is sold out too. Another sold out Darwyn Cooke variant comic this week; Justice League Gods and Monsters #1.

Comic fans get a first this week. Adam.3 #1 will be the first for creator Scott Kolins. A first in his very own creator owned character starring in a new series. Thanks to Dark Horse this is happening. Comic fans win! Be sure to check it out and support Scott. He’s a cool dude.

Independent publisher Action Lab Entertainment making some noise this Wednesday. Archon Battle of the Dragon #1 and F1rst Hero Fight For Your Life #1 are both sold out. Speaking of sold out, but not sold out….YET, From Titan Comics, Doctor Who Event 2015 Four Doctors #1. Doctor Who fans will be all over this.

There will be no shortage of number one comics to check on this week. Two very good stories await us from IDW; String Divers #1 and Boy-1 #1. From Image Comics Beauty #1 and Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #1. Beauty #1 will have a promo package sent to retailers. It will contain a pamphlet and a condom. Yes, you read that right. Click the red link or comic cover and see what those packages are selling for. Sheesh. Yankee #1 is not a baseball story, rather a unique story from Alternative ComicsGuardian Knight Comics‘ Gears And Bones #1Americatown #1 from Boom Studios, Dark Horse’s King Tiger #1, and rounding out the InvestComics Hot Picks week is DC’s DC Comics Bombshells #1.

Darth Vader #8 – Star Wars comics are and will be a hot item week after week, month after month. Is there an introduction this week within the pages here? Possibly, but make no mistake here, Star Wars comics will be desirable up until the new movie release in December and well beyond actually.

We Stand On Guard #2 – Oh Canada! Looks like something else is hot regarding Canada besides their hockey. Brian K Vaughan is the responsible party for this happening.

Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #3 – The story line here is well received. As is mostly anything Spider-Man. Check out the Comicxposure variant(s) here. The various variants are selling like hotcakes.

Bloodshot Reborn #5 – Although Valiant Entertainment brings readers excellent material on the inside of their books, they visually give us stimulation on the outside with their covers too. Take a look at the respect given to John Romita Sr.’s Amazing Spider-Man #50 (1967).

Lobo Vol 3 #9 – The first appearance of Wyvern Cross.

Here are a few possible first appearances to look for this Wednesday. Lobo Vol 3 #9, the first appearance of Wyvern Cross? Not too sure. We found Alex Wyvern. DC fans, help us out, same dude or not? As a regular reader on the InvestComics website, you should know by now that we tell you every month to buy up the Star Wars comics. Not only are you buying good stories, but you’re getting a potential aftermarket bump speculative comic each and every time. The Star Wars craze is still five months away, but the new Marvel comics are reacting now. Any sign of a new character or major plot line and the market instantly reacts. Darth Vader #8 this Wednesday will be a book to buy. An introduction? Maybe. If not, you have great reading on your hands anyway. Worth the $4.99. It’s a win-win. Check out Guardians Of Knowhere #2, new character Yotat graces the cover. And finally, Detective Comics #43. First off, what a fantastic cover from Francis Manapul. And check out a new weapon in this comic to take down Bats and his team.

The Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows story line is firing on all cylinders. Spider-Man seems to always have a hit story line these days right? Well this week Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #3 will hit and the Comicxposure variant is a biggie. Look at that cover by Mike Deodato Jr. Awesome right? Maybe InvestComics will give one of these away! Stay tuned! In the meantime click the link and head on over to Comicxposure. Buy the variant before they are all gone.

Darwyn Cooke variant; Justice League God And Monsters Wonder Woman #1 is sold out. The JL Gods and Monsters series each week keeps the readers coming back!

Valiant Entertainment brings it every single week. A must for any serious comic book reader. The shout out goes to the classic Amazing Spider-Man #50 (1967 – First Kingpin – must own) cover from John Romita Sr.

Before moving on here. A reminder as we have mentioned so many times in the past here on InvestComics. Just because a comic is sold out does not mean there will be monetary gains to be had. At the end of the day, the sold out comic must bring something tangible to the table. Besides the obvious first appearance factor for a speculative book, It must bring a buzz/interest for fans to come back to buy more. Publishers have the responsibility to provide an on time comic to sustain that interest and buzz. If the comic comes out on time and the buzz sustains and the interest is there, it’s a mix for possible success within the aftermarket. A sold out comic does not mean aftermarket success. Many factors go into why a comic does well for speculators after its release. Know the guidelines, follow InvestComics to give you the scoops all the time on how to watch for these things. Another reason is the release count. This plays a huge part in the process as well. Too many copies make for a watered down product, thus affecting your bottom line. See, many factors. Stick around here as you do, you’ll learn the real factors as to why things do what they do in the market. We are the number one comic book speculation website for a reason. And thanks to all of you of course. So let’s move along shall we?

Star Wars #7 will be a special one shot story on Ben Kenobi. Take a look at Kenobi ala’ yesteryear. We get to witness a young Ben Kenobi and the bad as* he really is (assuming he’s a bad as*). This one shot story will be brought to us by the creative team of Simone Bianchi (artist) and writer Jason Aaron. Look for this Star Wars comic to sell out quick. If the aftermarket bust loose a bit on this, sell at a high point, do not wait for “more money”. Remember you paid only $4.99 for the comic. Greed not only kills, it leaves you with a lot of comic books you cannot move. Plenty of variants to choose from as well. A $100 John Cassaday sketch variant looks nice, but pricey.

IDW Publishing has a hit on their hands; Shrinking Man #1. This comic comes from the best selling author Richard Matheson. He’s written some big boy books with no pictures; I Am Legend, A Stir Of Echoes, What Dreams May Come, Somewhere In Time, The Last Man on Earth, Duel, and the list goes on. Both the regular and variant comics are sold out. Probably a good idea to grab one of these. Not only for the speculative aspect, but it’s going to be a great read too.

When the Sex Criminals book came out it was well received in the aftermarket. The announcement of a possible TV option made things out of control in a hurry. It is now possible to buy a number one 9.8 graded copy on Ebay at $99 or less (including variants). Then there is Sex Criminals #11 coming this Wednesday. There will be five variants accompanying the next five comic releases of Sex Criminals (Thank you to Larry’s Comics for the correction on this from the earlier posting of this article). All five will be poly-bagged because of the extreme mature sexual content on its covers. The covers will be “covered” when shipped in a polybag. Understood the story of this comic brings this type of outrageous shock value, but a severe gimmick here to lure fanboys to buy a comic they really don’t need. We’re quite sure the covers are probably fantastic artistic covers, but XXX covers? The controversy and interest these comics probably stir up will be the driving force behind any speculative aftermarket bump. Controversy sells, but at the end of the line, controversy simmers down and no one cares eventually. Larry does say that he feels the sketch cover will command your attention. Listen to Larry, he knows the deal.

Click on any RED link or comic cover in the article to buy/bid on the comic right now. A new page will open, so you will not lose your place here.

Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #3 will feature a new costume for Deadpool and it looks very familiar. The cover alone here will garner interest from fans, so it’s a safe bet to pick this one up and enjoy it. A sell out will probably occur here.

Hacktivist #1 Vol. 2 from Boom Studios is sold out. Regular cover and variants. Robin Son Of Batman #2 introduces Dragon’s Head. The Justice League Gods and Monsters DVD is awesome, get that right HERE. The Justice League Gods and Monsters Superman #1; Darwyn Cooke variant is sold out as is IDW’s Ghostbusters Get Real #2 EC variant. A bunch of DC Annuals hit this week. A new series from writer David Walker and artist Ivan Reis/Joe Prado coming this Wednesday; Cyborg #1. Look for this series to do very well. The Cyborg character is on the cusp of really breaking out. More possible movie announcements forthcoming and the added creative team here on this comic adds a positive direction for Cyborg. His first appearance was in DC Comics Presents #26 (1980), as was it the first appearance of the New Teen Titans. And that book at any price is still a great book to own these days.

Last year the Enormous comic from 215 Ink was huge (no pun intended). This week 215 goes back to the well with a new number one; Enormous #1 vol 2. Expect some of the same drive toward the book as the regular and variant copies are sold out already. The first volume was well crafted and the potential television show made for more attractiveness from the speculator. If the speculation doesn’t pan out this time, you most likely still have a great read in your hands, which is as equally important if not more so.

Valiant Entertainment is firing on all cylinders these days with their Book Of Death story line. Book Of Death Fall Of Bloodshot #1 focuses on the ultimate demise of Bloodshot. A few visits to some comic conventions this year, I have run into quite a few fans regarding Valiant Entertainment and their product around their booth. The common thread among all of the fans is content. The story telling is the driving force behind Valiant’s success these days. I agree. This is what makes comic books fun, not the 57 variants of a new number one comic, not a 3D cover, not a gimmick, a good story drives a comic. 100% of the time and Valiant is all over this. If you are not familiar with Valiant and what they are offering, you really should check them out, you’ll be hooked.

Weirdworld #2 informs readers that a “Crystal Warrior” appears. Does this character have anything to do with the Crystal Warrior from 1983? Marvel Age #1 (1983 first appearance) and then a month later in Crystal Warrior #1 (1983) Ha! Both with Walt Simonson covers too! Probably way off here, maybe not, but either way man those Crystal Warrior books were fun.

Justice League Gods and Monsters Batman #1, a prequel to the DC animated movie. Buy the awesome DVD right HERE. The Darwyn Cooke variant is sold out. Also sold out, but across the board on this one; Archie vs Sharknado #1. It’s Sharknado man, come on gotta love it!

Captain Canuck #2 from Chapter House Publishing. An all new threat for the Captain in a backup story. The Captain is making a comeback!

Stan Lee’s Chakra The Invincible #1 (Graphic India). This character was spawned from new comic book day. Now a new new series. Pick it up for the kids, great stuff here.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde #1 (Marvel) and Wolf #1 (Image Comics) are books to get your read on. Wolf #1 has the speculation edge here though if any.

Cooke and IDW Present Parker: The Martini Edition

Hardcover compilation of The Hunter and The Outfit
Plus art gallery and all-new story

Arriving July 2011

San Diego, CA (April 1, 2011) – At WonderCon today, IDW Publishing announced that Darwyn Cooke’s first two adapted Parker books, THE HUNTER and THE OUTFIT, will be collected in a tremendous, oversized hardcover edition, with an additional 65 pages of Cooke content. Packaged in a beautiful slipcase, The Martini Edition debuts in July and features a brand new Parker short story by Darwyn Cooke.

“The first two Parker graphic novels have been met with such overwhelming praise,” said series editor Scott Dunbier. “It’s almost been an embarrassment of riches. With this Martini Edition we’re really trying to up the bar and give the fans something extra special—I think we’ll succeed!”

Adapted from Richard Stark’s classic crime noir novel, Darwyn Cooke’s PARKER: THE HUNTER graphic novel debuted in July 2008 to instantaneous popular and critical acclaim. It made the New York Times best-seller list and won coveted Eisner and Harvey awards. The second graphic novel, THE OUTFIT, was released last year and was met with similar response, and is currently under consideration for nominations in this year’s awards season. Parker: The Martini Edition will be a very special collection in that it will also feature an expansive section of sketches and preliminaries by the artist, with commentary accompanying. Also included is a brand-new 8-page Parker story by Darwyn Cooke, unique to this volume.

The Hunter and The Outfit tell the story of Parker, Richard Stark’s classic anti-hero, as he returns to New York to settle the score with his wife and partner in crime after they betray him in a heist gone terribly wrong. After evening the field and reclaiming his prize, the Outfit decide to do some score settling of their own… and learn much too late that when you push a man like Parker, it had better be all the way to the grave.

PARKER: THE MARTINI EDITION ($75.00, partial color, 344 pages, 9”x13”) will be available comic and book stores in July 2011. ISB 978-1-60010-980-5.

Here is a cool zombie epic headed our way this week. IDW publishing
brings the fun back into horror/zombie. The solicit states that it pays homage
to the 1970’s exploitation films and disaster movies. Lots of sex and gore in
this one fans. Not for the faint of heart we’re guessing. Perfect! Last Resort
will be brought to you by the team of Jimmy Palmiotti Justin Gray Amanda Conner and Darwyn Cooke. That’s an impressive team and they will indeed deliver on the IDW solicit. This we promise.

Do Androids Dream of ElectricSheep? #1  Are you a Blade Runner fan? You know that Harrison Ford movie that came out in 1982 and directed by Ridley Scott. Yes
that movie. Anyway, the idea and concept came from an original book called ‘Do
Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’ BOOM! Studios brings this book to life as it
was inspired from the Blade Runner film. This will be a 24 part series and
could be a good read. Look for this comic to gain some possible momentum as the
word gets out that this is a very cool sci-fi comic that needs to be on your
pull list.
