Uncanny Inhumans #11 – Well, we’ll say it. We told you so. This comic is sold out across the board and has its aftermarket burners on. Look for some high prices on Ebay for those who did not get it on their pull list at their local comic shop. That’s unless you read the InvestComics Hot Picks #430 article and clicked a buy it now on Ebay. Prices bidding around $8 – $16 already. We told you to pick one up…….

Grayson Annual #3 – We also alerted Harley Quinn collectors that she’ll be appearing in this comic this week. Guess what? It’s sold out!

Spider-Gwen Annual #1 – Setting up some future story lines for Spider-Gwen happens right here. Spider-Gwen fans be on alert.

Captain Marvel #6 – As we said in the Hot Picks article, Marvel Comics seems to be setting up Carol Danvers as the premiere character within their universe. It may all start here. Just a speculative thought.

Deathstroke Annual #2 – A new villain named Balkan joins the fray.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: New Gods #1 graded 7.0. With lots of talk regarding the New Gods making a possible appearance in the new Justice League movie, this comic is a nice pickup. The first appearances of Orion, Lightray, Metron, Kalibak, Highfather, New Genesis and Apokolips. Also with a Darkseid cameo. Story and cover art from Jack Kirby. A fantastic book for your collection. A buy it now price tag of only $85.

There is a very big hyper-machine running behind a new character getting their own book in a few months. His name is Mosaic. Mosaic #1 is being pushed by Marvel as the next big thing (character) since sliced bread, but InvestComics is not going to give into the hype….just yet. A comic coming this week will be the first appearance of that “hot” Marvel character Mosaic. We are 99.999999% sure that other speculation sites and wannabe speculators will tell you to buy this comic it’s going to be so HOT! Maybe it will be, right out of the gate, but there are so many mitigating factors going into this week’s Uncanny Inhumans #11. Will Mosaic play a key role in the Marvel Universe for years to come? Anyone remember Sentry? Will Mosaic play a key role in another characters life? A brother, a son, a reincarnation? Will Mosaic ‘click’ with the fans long term? See Spider-Gwen or Gwenpool, but not Silk as much. Will the character actually have substance to make him interesting enough for fans to come back and or demand to see him more within the Marvel U? It has taken literally decades for Werewolf By Night #32 (Moon Knight) to earn some respect. Partial thanks to InvestComics for pushing that particular book for the last 12 years. The basic point here is not to go all in by paying premium prices for a first appearance of Mosaic if you have no idea where this characters’ future lies within the Marvel U. The easiest call to make these days is the new female characters Marvel introduces. They seem to jump out and kick major as* in the aftermarket quick. The female counter parts however are a bit more touch and go sometimes. Mosaic is the next Marvel character to be pushed in an aggressive way, to which does not always equate to speculator gold. Sometimes it equates to a huge bust. We’ll have to do a wait and see here for a bit, but for now, Uncanny Inhumans #11 has all eyes on it this week. Buy a copy and make your own judgment as to whether or not YOU want to dig in with Mosaic. Don’t think too long though or you’ll have to wait for a second print, thus missing that possible easy flip. This comic will be completely sold out before new comic book day Wednesday.

Fans of Spider-Gwen may want to keep an eye out on the Spider-Gwen Annual #1 comic this week. Marvel is setting up Spider-Gwen’s near future right here.
We hate to say we told you so, but we told you so. We informed readers that the Spider-Man Deadpool series was going to be huge. We told readers to pick up that Spider-Man Deadpool #1 issue, it’s now headed to it’s sixth printing. Check out the all-star issue this week; Spider-Man Deadpool #6.
Last month fanboys got their panties in a bunch because Steve Rogers uttered two very bad words at the end of his debut issue. Lets see if Captain America Steve Rogers #2 brings some clarity or sends the fanboys into more of a tizzy. Maybe Marvel will add fuel to the fire and have the fanboys daring to stop buying Marvel comic books! Been there, done that. Deep breath dudes, breathe.

The Amazing Spider-Man And Silk Spider(Fly) Effect #4 story will have both Spidey and Silk reminiscing about that fateful day in the science fair where they were both bit by the same spider. Ah, good ol’ times! And that Ryan Stegman cover is killer.
It looks as though Marvel is trying to put Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) front and center in their universe. Good deal, we dig it. Captain Marvel #6 will feature Carol in a defining type moment in her hero career. Be there to witness it.

Harley Quinn appearance alert! Harley will make an appearance in Grayson Annual #3.
Deathstroke Annual #2 will introduce a villain named Balkan.
Disclaimer; we’re not crapping on this series, but just stating facts via the social media non-presence and the overall quietness of fans. We warned speculators from the outset. Do not get too vested in the third installment. The colossal failure/delayed Dark Knight III hits its fifth issue (Dark Knight III The Master Race #5). Maybe sales are good for DC with this series, but fans are NOT really talking about the third go-around here. Delays have killed any momentum the series may have had. All that said, a Midtown Comics Greg Capullo variant looks snazzy! And of course you have the Jim Lee variant coming in at $550. Unbelievable to us how JUST a cover, a NEW comic, with the SAME insides/story as ANY of the other 10 variants commands $550. **The fanboy screams** “but it’s a 1 in 300” (or whatever the ratio is), we don’t care. Before moving on here. A reminder as we have mentioned so many times in the past here on InvestComics. Just because a comic is sold out does not mean there will be monetary gains to be had. At the end of the day, the sold out comic must bring something tangible to the table. Besides the obvious first appearance factor for a speculative book, It must bring a buzz/interest for fans to come back to buy more. Publishers have the responsibility to provide an on time comic to sustain that interest and buzz. If the comic comes out on time and the buzz sustains and the interest is there, it’s a mix for possible success within the aftermarket. A sold out comic does not mean aftermarket success. Many factors go into why a comic does well for speculators after its release. Know the guidelines, follow InvestComics to give you the scoops all the time on how to watch for these things. Another reason is the release count. This plays a huge part in the process as well. Too many copies make for a watered down product, thus affecting your bottom line. See, many factors. Stick around here as you do, you’ll learn the real factors as to why things do what they do in the market. We are the number one comic book speculation website for a reason. And thanks to all of you of course. So let’s move along shall we?

DC comics will run the table this week. Convergence is here and boy is it a biggie for DC readers. It will bring back the old, the way things were back oh so long ago. This July will make the New 52 a whopping 4 years old. So what to do after ALL of those years of making a new universe and never looking back? Bring back the old universe for a little while! Of course this is all dripping with sarcasm but all in fun here.

DC’s Convergence will probably make some noise at the comic shop registers, but what about the speculators? First off and very important here, the readers are in for a huge treat. Bringing back everything and making it all one big fat hunk of DC meat is pretty awesome. Readers are going to absolutely love this. This will not be as confusing as Multiverse in the least bit, so don’t shy away. Buy the series and follow the stories. A lot of fun here. Fun for the speculator will be within the back issues of DC’s first run of Convergence stories. Here’s why and how……

Besides the obvious flip of a hot signed/graded variant, if a character from the past makes their mark (or for the first time) in the Convergence story, you’ll have their first appearance because InvestComics told you about it. For example; Convergence Batgirl #1 will feature Stephanie Brown as Batgirl. Stephanie Brown (and as Spoiler) first appeared in Detective Comics #647 back in 1992. This comic on Ebay can be snatched up for $12 in some cases. If you don’t click that RED link you’re probably going to pay more in a few days. Stephanie Brown then went on to first appear as Batgirl (post crisis) in Robin #126 in 2004. There is a NM copy right now available for $5.99. Click the RED link, you know the drill. And then finally there is the solo Stephanie Brown Batgirl comic; Batgirl #1 (2009). At 99 cents on Ebay right now, yeah how can you go wrong here?

Batgirl_1_InvestComics Convergence_1_InvestComics (2) Robin_126_InvestComics

Convergence Question #1 will feature Renee Montoya as The Question. Renee Montoya first appeared in Batman #475 (1992). This book is in the $10-$15 range right now. Then Renee first appeared as The Question in 52 #48 (2007). These are offered at $3 a piece. And not that many on Ebay right now.

A pregnant Lois Lane will be in Convergence Superman #1. Over the many years of Superman comics and Lois/Clark having a ton of children (adopted, aliens, grown, and theirs) appear in the comics, there is only one cover we see Lois Lane actually carrying a child as a pregnant woman. Check out the cover to JLA Created Equal #1 from the year 2000. This is the only cover Lois Lane has ever appeared on where she is pregnant. What does this mean really for the speculator? Absolutely nothing, but still a neat nugget to know and to have in your collection as a conversation piece. It’s only a dollar on Ebay right now.

How about getting that New Teen Titans #16 (1982) comic InvestComics mentioned in the InvestComics Hot Picks #333 in August of 2014. Check out the cut out of what was said in that article.

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Captain_Carrot_InvestComics

From InvestComics Hot Picks #333 (August 2014)

So let start that movement shall we? Convergence Harley Quinn #1 will feature Captain Carrot and Convergence Speed Force #1 will feature a character from the Zoo Crew. The New Teen Titans #16 is the first appearance of Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew. It’s a very affordable comic at the moment. No telling if the InvestComics Legion of fans will move the needle on this one. Here’s the things guys/gals, Marvel Comics has rejuvenated Howard The Duck, so DC Comics will be going with their bunny Captain Carrot. See how this works? Buy this first appearance, nothing to lose. No real down side here. Maybe a flat line, but an uptick can occur if DC pursues the rabbit for bigger and better things down the road. You never know.

….Speaking of a bunny. Convergence #1 has a sold out variant. The variant cover features the new Batman on the cover by Greg Capullo. Good luck buying this variant for under $99. A good quick flip if you score a high grade along with a signature(s) by Greg and the other creators on the book. This is currently the only sold out Convergence comic right now.

The rest of the Convergence titles to check out this week; Convergence Justice League #1, Convergence Nightwing Oracle #1, Convergence Titans #1, Convergence Batman and Robin #1 and Convergence Atom #1.

Some sold out comics to talk about. Please remember (as we have stated numerous times), sold out comics DO NOT equate to automatic money. Merely a heads up to speculators to determine if the value is worth the time to equate to more money. Lots of sold out comics never amount to anything. Do not determine your portfolio on buying sold out modern comic books, you will in fact lose money. With that said, here are some sold out books…..

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

52_48_InvestComics Batman_475_InvestComics Convergence_1_InvestComics (7) Detective_Comics_647_InvestComics

Marvel killed Wolverine and they are out for more blood. This time they will be offing Deadpool in Deadpool #45. No worries, he’ll be back. But for now he’s going to be taking a dirt nap. The Skottie Young ($60) and Tony Moore ($125) variants are sold out. And a sold out “3000 copies” available Amazing Spider-Man #300 homage cover.

Howard The Duck #2 features a “bling” variant with the Duck and a Raccoon on its cover. A sold out variant that is a nice novelty item. No long term upside here, unless these two wind up doing a team up movie. Only one on Ebay at the current moment at $76.

James Patterson writes big boy books with no pictures. He’s a worldwide best selling author and Max Ride First Flight #1 will be based on a best selling novel. Probably a good bet to check out this comic. The Dustin Nguyen variant is sold out. Here’s a way to get a nice book in your collection and increase the value of your $10 sold out variant. Get Dustin Nguyen and James Patterson to sign your book. Of course a witness and high grade will help too!

Back in 1989 Guns N’ Roses made their comic book debut in Rock N’ Roll Comics #1. While it was a hot book back then, even a hot series actually, it was a dollar short and a day late. The comics featured a ton on great 80 rock hair bands as their featured stories. So what is the problem you ask? Well the first Rock N’ Rock comic came out in 1989 as the hair band sound/scene was dropping off. In the very early 90’s some band by the name of Nirvana changed the entire complexity of the rock scene. No more hair bands! Rock N Roll comics continued to put out comics on Poison, Queensryche, Kiss just to name a few. Those were the days though! Speed to the year 2015. Some of those 80’s bands withstood the test of time and made sure they stuck around and remained relevant. Metallica, Bon Jovi and Ozzy are just a few. Slayer is also one of those bands that made their relevancy past the new millennium. This Wednesday Rock and Roll Biographies Slayer #1 will debut. An all new rock n roll comic. A sold out regular cover and variant here. There are so many bands cramped up inside this comic, it’s a wonder how Acme Press pulled this off. So want a real challenge? A one of a kind comic? Get Judas Priest, Testament, Green Day, Slipknot, Social Distortion, NOFX, Exodus, Primus and Faith No More to sign the comic. The REAL challenge isn’t getting these great bands to sign your book, the REAL challenge is getting a high grade on the book when you get it graded! Almost near impossible really. Does beer on a cover take down a grade?

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Okay no more talk on the sold out books, let’s talk Aspen Comics. Yes a rare appearance by Aspen here on the InvestComics Hot Picks. Not one, but two Aspen comics to check out this week. Four Points #1 is an all female team written by Scott Lobdell. And the other Aspen comic is Lola XOXO #1. Lola first appeared in the free comic book day; Worlds of Aspen 2014. With all of the strong female leads these days from the big two, it’s important to point out other leading ladies from the other companies too. Never know too, maybe another Tomb Raider type character can emerge and get to kicking some as* on the big screen one day. Never know! Either way, these comics look like an enjoyable read.

Image Comics has a lot to offer up this week. Savior #1 has Todd McFarlane on writing duties. He’s not penciling here, just writing. Even if he was penciling, doesn’t really mean much in the speculative world (see Haunt). Here’s the thing with Todd. He’s a legend, but a legend on two characters. For the newbie’s reading, those two characters are Spider-Man and Spawn. Not to diminish anything Todd has done, he’s an amazing artist. Very awesome. Just simply pointing out that most fans really want to see Todd work his magic on those two characters the most. Whenever Todd does do something new, fans go bonkers at first and then the dust settles. Fans go bonkers when he draws, not writes. Therein lies the issue with Savior #1. Not saying it won’t be a good book, but fans want to see Todd draw. That’s what he does best. He’s come a long way since writing the Spider-Man books (15 total) for Marvel all those years ago. 25 years ago to be exact. Wow time flies! So what to do about Savior #1 you ask? Very simple, buy it, read it and enjoy it. Maybe it’ll hit, maybe it won’t. It all really depends if this story strikes a chord and creates a buzz. It’s really a wait and see with Savior #1 as far as the speculative market is concerned.

Two Image Comics series come back into the fold this week with an all new story to tell. The popular Jupiter’s Legacy from 2013 makes its return this Wednesday with Jupiter’s Circle #1. Mark Millar returns as writer, as artist Frank Quitely will be doing only the cover this time around. Enter artist Wilfredo Torres. Wilfredo’s earliest work (first work?) is in Salem: Queen of Thorns #0 (Boom Studios). The other Image Comic returning this Wednesday is Legacy of Luther Strode #1. The original creative team from 2011’s The Strange Talent of Luther Strode is back. The 2011 Luther Strode was very well received. Surprised its taken so long to get another Strode story going.

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Also from Image this week are two followups to hot number one comics. Lets see what Descender #2 will bring after the sold out number one hit. And let’s see what Southern Cross #2 is able to do as well. Fans are really digging both of these series right now.

InvestComics gave readers/speculators a heads up on Astronaut Ink’s New Zodiax #1. This week New Zodiax #2 hits. A well received number one issue and probably a well received number two issue coming up.

Darth Vader #4 features the revenge of the Battle Droids. What does this mean exactly? Only one way to find out. Ant-Man #4 might feature a debut as well. Only one way to find out!

JUPITER’S LEGACY #1 SELLS OUT

Just as the InvestComics Hot Picks #266 called it!  “Look for Jupiter Legacy #1 to fly off the shelf”  “A definite pick up this Wednesday”

First issue of Millar/Quitely title gets second printing

jlcover01JUPITER’S LEGACY #1, the first issue of the Image Comics series that marks the return, after ten years, of Mark Millar and Frank Quitely as a creative team, has sold out. An issue that ably and enticingly lays the foundation of the story and themes of the series — including the wise use of power, generational clash, and moral entropy — JUPITER’S LEGACY #1 has gone back to press for a second printing, which will be in stores on June 5.

The debut of the new series, which was in stores on April 24, broke Image sales records for 2013 and has been roundly praised by critics:

“Mark Millar proves that he still has his finger on the pulse of popular consciousness with Jupiter’s Legacy #1, a premiere issue that explores superheroics in a way that is both refreshing and cynical…. Frank Quitely delivers some of the loveliest art amongst this week’s new releases. The aesthetic of Jupiter’s Legacy blends a powerful realism with a sense of the fantastical in a way that is seamlessly integrated with Millar’s narrative.”

– IGN
“Jupiter’s Legacy is elegantly written and drawn by Millar and Quitely; this is a book to be proud of.”

– Comic Book Resources
“Jupiter’s Legacy has depth and then some. It’s a thought experiment concerning the generational gap between the idealistic, overtly heroic ‘greatest generation’ and today’s hyper-commercialized, disaffected youth who exist in a culture which lacks the same certainty of purpose.”

– Bloody Disgusting
“Jupiter’s Legacy #1 is off to a hot start with a lot of promise to be one of the best mini-series of the year.”

– Geeks Unleashed
“Frank Quitely’s art is astounding as always.”

– Comicosity

The second printing of JUPITER’S LEGACY #1 by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely is available to pre-order now with the Diamond code MAR138318 and will hit comic book store shelves on June 5.

Grant Morrison announces MULTIVERSITY for 2013. 1st story line includes the return/debut of a Ted Kord Blue Beetle

Fans attending MorrisonCon in Las Vegas this weekend were treated to a very special announcement this morning.

After years of speculation, anticipation and expectation, DC Entertainment is proud to confirm that Grant Morrison’s love letter to superhero comics, MULTIVERSITY, will be hitting stores in late 2013. Morrison, the comic book shaman and superstar author of ACTION COMICS and BATMAN, INCORPORATED has created a series that will not only define the Multiverse for DC COMICS-THE NEW 52, but will also provide a handful of new worlds, concepts, heroes and villains for comic fans to enjoy.

MULTIVERSITY is an 8-issue series comprising 6 one-shots and a two-part conclusion with each issue featuring a 38-page lead story followed by an 8-page backup. Each issue takes place on a different parallel world from the main DC Earth and functions as a number one issue. Each world in the Multiverse publishes comic books about the heroes on the OTHER worlds. Once the characters realize this, they then unite to respond to the villains!

Additionally, each universe (which have been brewing in Morrison’s mind for years) will open up an endless series of worlds and realities for future writers and creators to use, expand upon and enjoy.

Below, take a first look at MULTIVERSITY by checking out a piece of art from PAX AMERICANA #1. Illustrated by the legendary Frank Quitely, PAX AMERICANA takes the original Charlton Comics characters and presents them in a way that’s both new and familiar at the same time.

Skaar is coming!! Therapy is in order for the emotionally scarred son of Hulk, but until he gets that let’s all watch him beat up the entire Marvel Universe and his daddy!

skaarsonofhulk.gifSkaar: Son of Hulk #11  Is there a bigger character coming up the
ranks in the Marvel Universe? Absolutely 100 percent…..No. Don’t try the Daken
card here. Skaar is a complex character that will in fact sustain the test of
time. Daken, let’s just say X-23. Nuff said. Skaar’s birth basically created an
extension of the Marvel Universe. Yes, Greg Pak has quietly put together an
entire extension of the MU that will probably be touched on for years to come.
It seems like every week InvestComics is saying to get the first appearance of
this bastard child. Cannot stress this enough Investors, get Skaar’s first
appearance! When Skaar begins his beat down of just about everybody in the MU, look for the word to get out that this dude is for real. The second and third
prints will start, the buzz will start and you must start looking for that WWH
#5
issue now!

Batman & Robin # 1
While Marvel puts to rest their Ultimate line (for now), DC is starting
up theirs. Yes DC has tried their version of the Ultimate line already, the
All-Star line. That worked a little bit, and then just faded away. So what to
do next you ask? Well revamp and give comic fans a solicit that reads ‘The
Newest Era of The Dark Knight Begins Here!’ Wow and wow again. So let’s roll
with this okay. Put together Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely of the ‘All-Star
Superman’ and ‘New X-Men’ runs. Then throw out a beauty of a variant by J.G.
Jones that is going to be SO rare in terms of ratio that some parts of ebay and
comic shops have this thing coming in at $500 a pop! What is that about?? It’s
an all new Batman & Robin under the costumes, a superstar team of Morrison
and Quitely and a variant that is selling for a ridiculous amount of money.
What could possibly go wrong here? DC that’s what….
