Just a quick note regarding something from the speculative market that needs to be addressed. I saw this and had to share my thoughts because I see too many being swindled out of believing something that is simply a falsehood being driven by a market that needs to get with it a bit. This is one of the many reason the InvestComics website switched gears over the years and eventually arrived to a Trending brand. Comics can trend, but making stuff up to upsell is simply not a vehicle anyone should drive. Maybe I can make sense of it for you a bit. Maybe not. Maybe we can have an open discussion, like grown-ups on one of our social media pages. Weigh in and see what other collectors may think about this. A quick reminder, this is an opinion for MATURE readers, not fanboys with emotions that cannot read without formulating a solid foundation for an adult debate.
Please share this with your friends and others that have a rational sense of thinking. Be sure to let them know you have seen the light because of Trending Pop Culture if you agree.
Recently arrived from the Orlando MegaCon show and saw on a dealers table the Scooby Doo/Harley Quinn Team-Up comic with a yellow sticky that read ‘Rarest Harley Quinn appearance ever’. Priced at $30. This comic bears absolutely no significance at all in the grand scheme of collecting. It does not….at all. Zero. Let me break this down to you this way. Realize the ridiculousness of this sell…every single superhero or villain has a ‘rarest appearance’ leading up to their 352+ appearance (more on that in a moment). Every. Single. One. Thanos does. So does Deadpool. So does Starlord. So does Nightwing. And so on. Any hero or villain ever put to print has a comic that was the shortest print run during their tenure. It’s a FACT, no getting around this. Why are their RARE appearances not a ‘get’? Is it that the Scooby book sold 10k and the rarest Deadpool sold 12k? Seriously? You see how absurd this is? Please, utilize your monies and maximize it to the best of your capacity for your collection to be filled with tangible books. Wasteful spending on a 352nd appearance of a character as a ‘RARE’ appearance is not a good investment no matter how anyone wants to sell this. Yes, through calculation, counting Regular Quinn, Animated Quinn and Post Flashpoint Quinn, up until the 2015 release of the Scooby Doo Team-Up comic, she appeared in approximately 352 comics (More not counting some hard covers, TPB, reprints or various other continuities) to that 2015 appearance. That’s a whole lot of Quinn. So, what exactly is it with this comic (and countless others) that have so many in a tizzy? $30 well spent someplace else if you ask a true speculator. The Scooby Doo Team Up #12 is at a ‘Buy it Now’ price of $7.99 in some places on eBay. So many stuck on the high end with this comic, it’s not using your best judgement but following the madness of a website(s) or word of mouth.

Ant-Man hits this week with a few number one comics. Two that will trend are Ant-Man And The Wasp #1 from Mark Waid and Javier Garron and Ant-Man & The Wasp: Living Legends #1 from Ralph Macchio and Andrea Di Vito. Must be an Ant-Man movie coming out or something. Within the pages of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Living Legends #1 comes the reemergence of Living Eraser. A third-rate villain that first appeared back in 1963’s Tales To Astonish #49. Which also happens to be Giant-Man’s first appearance. The character quickly fell through the cracks to be revived in 1992 by John Byrne in Sensational She-Hulk #35. The ‘New’ Living Eraser! The crowd gasps! No, they don’t, but hey a great book coming from creative team Ralph Macchio and Andrea Di Vito? We’ll take that. And a new series from Mark Waid and Javier Garron? Yes, we’ll take that too. Thank you Marvel.
The Dazzler character has always been one of those characters to be on the cusp of something, but not quite sure what. Sort of like with Moon Knight, but more wonky. She’s appeared in countless comics throughout her storied career, but never managing to go next level. With the influx of the female heroes/villains making a major impact on the industry within the last decade or past few years, it’s no wonder we go back in time and grab Dazzler to try and make it work….once again. First appearance raw copies on eBay have sold between $40 – $80. An Uncanny X-Men #130 graded CGC 9.6 sold for $130 two months ago. Not that much demand in the open market there. But, that doesn’t mean writer Magdalene Visaggio and artist Laura Braga will not take Dazzler X Song #1 to a new era of interest on new comic book day. It’s a different market these days for the female character. Let the interest spark you, buy a copy, check it out.
Deadpool #1 will be the sixth volume with a number one issue attached to it. Too many restarts? Probably yes, but fans eat this stuff up. Making a new Deadpool series with the number ONE in the upper left-hand corner someplace is like printing money for Marvel. Add in super creative talents like Skottie Young, Scott Hepburn and Nic Klein, you have more of a reason to want this comic upon its release. Some of the many, many variants are already sold out. Remember, as its been said on here for years and years. The guts are the same (inside of the comic), don’t overpay for ONE page that’s different (cover).
Mark Waid is a busy guy these days. A new Doctor Strange series. Doctor Strange #1 Writer Mark Waid artist Jesus Saiz.
For a long time, It was written on this site about the title ‘Totally Awesome Hulk’ as a big downer for the book itself as for any potential first time reader for the comic. The comic was good, but the title was atrocious. Eventually Marvel saw the harm this approach was producing and finally that title went away. This Wednesday, a more ‘mature’ approach from Marvel; The Immortal Hulk #1 from writer Al Ewing and artist Joe Bennett. This is good. Very good. And the comic will hammer out some fantastic Hulk tales with this creative team on board. Looking forward to this.

Superstar writer Scott Snyder brings his stardom to another Justice League relaunch. Justice League #1 with writer Scott Snyder and artist Jim Cheung. A few variants of course accompany this release, but the Jim Lee Batman cover is just….okay. Nothing really jumping out here.
Speaking of Batman, Deathstroke and Bats keep up the fight in Deathstroke #32. Part three Batman vs. Deathstroke.
Have you seen the new Nightwing #45 cover? The John Romita Jr. cover will draw the ire of some. Maybe. We’ll see if this trends because of the graphic nature of it. Maybe it’s nothing too. We’ll see.

About Betty’s Boob

Click on the RED links, Images, comic covers/items to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay

Trending Pop Culture Indie Hot Picks; Indie comics do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after.
An interesting comic from Boom Studios this Wednesday. Not only for it’s interesting title (a snicker will occur when seeing it), but because of its content. About Betty’s Boob is a realistic/comic book approach unto a particular female (Betty) who loses her left breast to cancer, but also loses her boyfriend, her job, her will, but things are lining up for Betty as the day is lining up to become the best day of her life according to writer Vero Cazot and artist Julie Rocheleau. This hard cover will be an interesting read indeed and should be beckoned as a film if someone wants to make a movie about awareness, perseverance and the will to overcome any obstacle thrown your way in life. Hopefully a comic book form of this hard cover reaches stores someday, but this Wednesday, buy the hardcover and read About Betty’s Boob.
For some reason Spawn #286 will be arriving to local comic shops with eight (at last count) variant covers. All covers are Todd McFarlane team-ups with other industry artist. Most of the covers are sold out already. Why the influx of variants here is a bit perplexing. Is there a major storyline happening here? Something…? Anything? Either way, some of these cool covers will be trending across your social media page shortly.
Brother Nash #1 (Titan Books) from Bridgit O’Connell is sold out.
Vagrant Queen #1 (Vault Comics); Magdalene Visaggio and Jason Smith. Sold out.
John Byrnes Stowaway To The Stars #1 Special Edition (IDW); All John Byrne stuff and a new John Byrne story!

Before reading ahead, we feel we need to warn you that our articles contain very harsh truths in them. Not vulgar language, just a good solid dose of honesty. They always have, they always will. If you are easily offended, cannot come to terms that other people have opinions too beside yourself and especially if you’re a fanboy, discontinue reading. Go back to the other places selling you the farm. This is NOT the place for you. We’re here to have fun and not lie to you. Thank you and enjoy!

Once Our Land #1 – Another good story from Scout Comics and another short print run is causing some waves in the aftermarket. This sold out comic will be sought after like the other very very successful Scout Comic; Henchgirl. Henchgirl has blown up on Ebay and InvestComics had your back since issue one with that series.

Norman #2 – We asked that you check out Norman #1 as it was sold out before it hit the new comics shelf. Interesting sadistic story. The same applies here with issue number two. Titans Comics has a hit on their hands because Norman #2 is also sold out. Short print run here will put it in demand.

Betty & Veronica #1 – Adam Hughes begins his writing and art on this new Archie series. 20+ variants are available for your picking. The regular Hughes cover rocks in our opinion and is the best of the overzealous variant print run. Regardless of variants, this series will will something for both the reader and speculator. Archie Comics hits a home run here.

Snotgirl #1 – This awesome title alone will turn heads on Wednesday. Look for this title to be a possible sleeper. New artist Leslie Hung looks like a winner and writer Bryan Lee O’Malley will give us a story that entails a beautiful woman, a social media star, with an allergy problem. A booger problem. So gross, yet so inviting.

Brickleberry #1 – The Dynamite Entertainment B&W variant offering of this comic is sold out. A good read in store for us.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Wolverine Origins #1 (CGC 9.8) Signed by Joe Quesada. Granted this comic doesn’t really hold any big significance in the collectors market, but it is an upper grade Wolverine comic signed by Joe Quesada for only $84.96! That’s a great buy. Get it before it’s gone.

InvestComics gave a heads up to readers and speculators back in January regarding recent news from Marvel within the past few days. How do we know or do this so often? We’re good at this. We gave our fans a heads up in January’s InvestComics Hot Picks #409 (and MANY times thereafter) about Deadpool And The Mercs For Money #1. Not so much about how awesome this series would be, but about the supporting cast. We said (again, in MANY articles following HP #409) that Deadpool was setting up his crew members for possible books themselves. Well, it’s happening. Solo, Slapstick, and Foolkiller will be getting their own titles. Not many of their first appearances available on Ebay since we tipped everyone off, but try anyway, click those links or comic covers. Anyway, back to this coming Wednesday. Deadpool And The Mercs For Money Vol 2 #1 will hit. We say pick this comic and series up because it’s going to be a blast like the first volume.
New Stormtroopers and a new artist; Jorge Molina. Star Wars #21. We’re right there.
Spider-Man #6, Miles Morales chooses a side in Civil War II.
If you’re a Namor fan and are still reeling from his untimely death, worry no more. Squadron Supreme #9 will be your prelude to ‘Finding Namor’. Not Nemo silly….Namor.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay.

The new Batman title is sort of picking up where the last series left off. Not in the sense of storyline, but in regards to the demand and attention it’s getting. Writer Tom King and artist’s David Finch/Matt Batt Banning are maintaining a level of interest for the readers as well as some speculators. We will keep informing speculators that we think it’s just a question of time before Gotham and Gotham Girl get their own solo or team-up title. These are early appearances by the hot new duo in Gotham. Batman #3 out this Wednesday, get them while you can.
Harley Quinn is the focal point in the last issue of New Suicide Squad. Check out New Suicide Squad #22 and see how it all ends…..for now.

Does it get any better, seriously, than Betty & Veronica #1 this Wednesday? Adam Hughes writes and pencils this awesomeness from Archie Comics. A ridiculous amount of variants to choose from, 20+ at last count, but our fav is the regular Adam Hughes cover!
Dynamite Entertainment’s Brickleberry #1 looks interesting. Definite check out on the shelf material. Remember, no reading comics by the new comics! Glance through….they’re watching you.
The new Image Comics title will have all the new comic buyers turning their heads and saying, ‘huh?’ out loud. Check out Snotgirl #1. Yes that’s right, Snotgirl. Not a typo. Not Shotgirl, Snot. As in booger. A gorgeous female lead character with an allergy problem. Yes for real. This is a definite pick-up on Wednesday.
Valiant Entertainment did extremely well with their first Faith mini-series. Now witness Faith’s first ongoing series ever with Faith Vol 2 #1. This series will fair well with fans, they’ve taken a tremendous liking to the Faith character. Look for the introduction of a new villain in this issue as well. Plenty of great variants to choose from.

Dawn (2)

Dawn of Justice – Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman has made her movie debut in the Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer (Pictured). Now the clock starts ticking as to when WW will get her own solo film, if ever. Can she, will this character be able to hold up in their own film? That’s the million dollar question. A great character with some serious history. There are many directions the Wonder Woman franchise can go, whether any of them work or not is the big question. Not doubting it cannot be done, just a little hesitant to call a WW solo film an absolute winner. For now though, there are plenty of comics to pick up within the 74 years of comic history here; first appearances and key books. Plenty of time as well. We won’t see a solo Wonder Woman title movie for a while. Look for these comics below in the mean time. Some are great pickups right now because the frenzy has not hit.

Dawn (1)

Dawn of Justice – Wonder Woman

There are many Wonder Woman first appearances and key issues that did not make this list. With the rich history comes a lot of material. Also, the DC universe is a vast and convoluted place. There are too many Earth 2, Earth this, Post Flashpoint, Pre Crisis, Post Crisis, etc. So because of this, there will be misses in this checklist. You are more than welcome to list any comic we may have missed in the comment section below.

Also, many of the earlier comics are not available on Ebay right now. Just because they are not available now does not mean they wouldn’t be later on. InvestComics Comic Hot Picks 8-31-11

Welcome to this week’s InvestComics Comic Hot Picks.

5……4……3…..2……1…….

Well the time has finally arrived. The redo, restart, do over, resurrection, rebuild………..however you want to slice it or dice it, DC’s massive overhaul is being dubbed “The Relaunch”. Readers will get their hands on only 2 “new” releases this week from DC. As Flashpoint #5 ends in climactic fashion, Justice League #1 will begin the new era for DC. There will be plenty of cool covers to choose from regarding the new JL book. One in particular will garner the most attention, the David Finch variant sketch cover. It’s a beauty and it’ll be the best ratio book as far as collectable.

Meanwhile…..back at Marvel. No relaunch for them (Not yet!), but they have 3 comics to check out this week, obliviously nowhere near as epic as the DC’s books, but interesting nonetheless. Greg Pak ends hi s Hulk run, and what a run it has been. Incredible Hulks #635 promises to deliver.

Look for Marvel to push this next character in our faces for the next year or so. The Ultimate Comics Hawkeye #1 will probably sell out due to the cool variant covers by Adam Kubert and Neal Adams, as well as some good storytelling from Jonathan Hickman.

Marvel’s biggest issue this week will be the newest creation from Brian Micheal Bendis and Mark Bagley. Although this story sounds like it’s been done a million times, we’re sure (we hope) there will be a twist of some sort. This will be Marvel’s easy sell out of the week, and their next movie in 2015.

A few Independents to check out this week; International Spy games Vescell #1, issue number 6 of Guarding theGlobe (last issue), Morning Glories Yearbook 2011, Extinct #1, Dino Strike Force #1, Bluespear #1 and Discord.

Check out the covers of the week below. Do you have a cover we missed that you think deserves to be here? Upload it and share it on the InvestComics Facebook page! Or comment below.

Until next week, Invest wisely.
