The debut of a new Star Wars character comes in the form of a comic book. Most of us saw DJ in the Last Jedi movie in December, played by Benecio Del Toro. On a personal note, I walked out of the theater after the movie and spoke about how great that DJ character was. Now Star Wars The Last Jedi – DJ Most Wanted #1 arrives this Wednesday. Possible bigger things for DJ in the future, he’s a fantastic player within the Star Wars lure. This will be his first comic book appearance. Writers Ben Acker and Ben Blacker. Artist Kev Walker.
As DC announces that Doomsday Clock will now go bi-monthly, Marvel’s Avengers still goes weekly for its third straight week of a 16 straight week turn. This week in Avengers #678, an Avenger dies? Let’s read and find out.

DC’s “New Age Heroes” continues this week. Damage #1, from a couple of weeks ago, was the first of many new heroes being introduced within their DC universe. These characters will not be from a separate universe, they’ll be put right in the middle of the existing time line. This is fantastic news because it gives the DCU a shot in the arm with new blood. This said, it’s quite possible some or none of these characters will catch on, but why not pick up the debut issues and check them out? Who knows, maybe one of these characters has a huge breakout on the popularity side, thus jacking up the speculative side. Safe bet is to buy all of the “New Age Heroes” as they release to cover your speculative bloodline. If nothing pops, so what? You were entertained with the words and pictures for 10 minutes of your life. Silencer #1 will be the offering this week from writer Dan Abnett and artists John Romita Jr./Sandra Hope. Anyone can check out a preview right HERE before you buy. Looks intense and we’re all in. Going back to Damage #1 a quick sec. If you haven’t seen already, 10 year Jason Katz started his own comic book review show. He reviews Damage #1, video in this post. Check it out. He’s awesome (proud papa speaking).

Check out the origin of Clayface in Detective Comics Annual #1. Creators; James Tynion IV, Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira.
New DC sci-fi comic, Motherlands #1 (Vertigo) from Simon Spurrier and Rachael Stott.
Deathstroke chooses a new path. Maybe this “hero” thing isn’t working out so well for him. Let’s see where life takes him in Deathstroke Annual #1. Writer Christopher Priest, artists Bill Sienkiewicz and Denys Cowan.
A new Swamp Thing story paying tribute to Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson; Swamp Thing Winter Special #1. Writer Tom King and artist Jason Fabok lead the way with a new story in honor of two legends. An original story from Len Wein that never made it to print, makes it here with art from Kelley Jones. Loving everything about this comic, a must for any true comic fan.

InvestComics Indie Hot Picks; Indie comics do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after.

Spawn #281 gave readers their first look at the new character Black Mirror. While we promoted it as the first “full” appearance, it turned out to be a cameo (last page). This Wednesday we get “Hulk #181”, the first full appearance in Spawn #282. The new hero, Black Mirror, will debut in her own comic for Image Comics. So, let the crazy speculation begin? Who will pay $20 for that amped-up cosmic Ghost Rider comic? Maybe lots of cash for that meaningless variant that came out last week? Put your big boy pants on guys/gals. Invest wisely.
Anyone reading this old enough to remember the Hasbro toy Stretch Armstrong? That was the best toy ever. This rubbery doll type thing stretched out when you pulled on its limbs. It was technological advanced for its time. Hours of fun until the curiosity got the best of you. Had to see what was underneath that skin, stretch until it breaks! Anyway, IDW debuts a comic based on the coolest toy ever; Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters #1. Here’s a great little nugget, did you know that Stretch Armstrong first appeared in a comic in the New York Comic Con giveaway back in 2011’s Unit:E. Only 1000 of these were available. Probably down to 500 after everyone lost them, threw them out, ate their lunch on it, etc.
Valiant Entertainment’s hit comic Quantum & Woody hit their stride with their debut issue which included the most variant cover of all time. Check out the follow up this week; Quantum & Woody #2 with more “foil chase covers”. Writer Daniel Kibblesmith and artist Kano.
Chapterhouse Comics; Fantomah #1, Ray Fawkes and Soo Lee. Freelance #1; Andrew Wheeler and Juan Samu.
Brian Denham’s The Tremendous Trump World War T cover (Antarctic Press) and Joe Staton’s The Charlton Arrow #3 (AC Comics) both provide homage Marvel covers. They’re on point otherwise they wouldn’t be a mentioned here.
Chim Chum and the Portly Samurai #1 (American Mythology); Adrian Ropp.
Jack Hammer: Paper Hero (Action Lab); Brandon Barrows and Bill Blankenship.

Stabbity Bunny #1 – Scout Comics has announced that this comic is their best selling book, ever. It’s sold out at the distributor as Scout Comics teases a second print coming soon. InvestComics is a huge supporter of Scout and their new releases on a regular basis. They are quality with art and story each and every book they release. InvestComics was proud to team with Scout Comics before the madness began with this comic to give away a regular and a NOT yet released white label variant of this tremendously hot comic right now. Go right HERE to see how you can have a chance to WIN. Go now, giveaway is over THIS Wednesday.
Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe #1 – Valiant Entertainment is an independent publishing force. Another indie InvestComics is proud to support. Their stories are riveting and art rivals any company in the business. This week’s debut sees Ninjak taking on the likes of the entire Valiant Universe. This will be awesome!
Harley Quinn #34 – Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti have driven the Harley Quinn character to new heights during their creative run. That all ends with this issue.
Suicide Squad #33 – The introduction of a new character; Juan?
Spider-Man/Deadpool #26 – A prelude in this comic leads to a very big story……….in July. Odd right? Oh well, it’s Deadpool and Spidey, great book regardless.

Avengers comic fans get spoiled for 16 straight weeks….a new release every week for four months?? Yes, that’s what Marvel is promising, as the “No Surrender” story line begins this week in Avengers #675. So Marvel will deliver an Avengers comic on a weekly basis for 16 week’s without delay? Accomplishing the consecutive streak alone will be a feat, either way, let’s roll here and get on board with this.
The X-Men Gold Annual #1 will be packed with new and old. The homage cover from Alan Davis is from a cover he himself did 30 years ago for the Excalibur #1 issue. Alan Davis still has it. Creators on the X-Men Gold comic; Marc Guggenheim, Leah Williams and Alitha Martinez.
A super-story involving Spider-Man and Deadpool will take place in July. Why mention something that is 5 months away you ask? Well, Spider-Man/Deadpool #26 this Wednesday is a prelude to that July event. No really. Crazy right? Great monthly comic, but why tease something that far out? Weird.
Speaking of Deadpool, The Despicable Deadpool #292 is part one of “Bucket List”.
The Venom Inc. story line is firing on all cylinders. Part five this week; Venom #160.

“Swan’s Song” part one; Wonder Woman #38 this Wednesday. Did you know that in 1988 “Swan Song” story appeared in Wonder Woman #15 (1988). Written by George Perez and (late) Len Wein, pencils by George Perez and cover art from George Perez. That’s gold. What does this have to do with this week’s Wonder Woman release?…..Absolutely nothing other than the title of the story, but the Perez and Wein is always, always a win no matter what.
Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti end their historic run on the Harley Quinn title. Harley Quinn #34 will be their final issue. What a ride it has been. They’ve single handedly have brought Harley to a new level within the DC lure. Amazing what they have done.
Justice League Of America #22 brings Queen of Fables back into the DC Universe mix. The Queen first appeared in JLA #47 (2000). This character has about 15 total appearances under her belt. That’s not too many in an eighteen-year span. Right?
Suicide Squad #33 introduces a new character named Juan in “The Chosen Juan” part one.

InvestComics Indie Hot Picks; Indie comics do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after.

If you are a regular around these here parts, you’ll know that InvestComics supports many independent publishers. One of publishers that consistently makes the Hot Picks list; Scout Comics. InvestComics, time and time again have implored comic readers/collectors to check this company out when they release a new comic. You’ll get hooked and buy more from them. As we have said on a regular basis too about Scout Comics, their debut comics sell out rather quick. Case in point once again this week with Stabbity Bunny #1. Creators Richard Rivera and Dwayne Biddix. Psst…….want to enter for a chance to WIN a signed copy from writer Richard Rivera? Go HERE, then come back, we’ll wait.
Another publisher we praise all the time because of their source material is Valiant Entertainment. They deliver week in and week out, month in and month out. If you are a comic book reader and have not put a valiant comic on your pull list yet, you are seriously missing out. This Wednesday you’ll have a chance to jump on board with another fantastic Valiant book; Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe #1. Yes, this is in direct reference to Marvel’s Punisher vs The Marvel Universe, but Valiant Entertainment style. You really should check this comic out and the rest of Valiant’s catalog. creators on this book are Eliot Rahal and Joe Bennett.
And sticking with Valiant, writer Jody Houser has been a huge force within their creative team. Jody is the writer/creator of the Faith character. She will be writing a new Star Wars story for IDW Publishing; Star Wars Adventures Forces Of Destiny Rey #1. A new Star Wars story is enough for anyone to get excited, but to have writer Jody Houser a part of it…? Yes, we eagerly await this one even more.
BSG vs. BSG #1 (Dynamite Entertainment). It’s Battle Star Galactica vs. Battle Star Galactica. Written by Peter David?! Art by Jonny Desjardins.
Atlas & Axis #1 (Titan Comics); Creator Pau.

Swamp Thing 1

Top 5 Pick of the week – Swamp Thing #1 – Click to Buy/Bid

Amazing Spider-Man #611 (2009) – The first appearance by Deadpool in a Spider-Man comic. A fantastic book to own since both of these characters are so popular and are starring in their first monthly team up comic. Furthermore, with the Deadpool character becoming an obvious main staple within the Marvel universe, a first team up comic with these two is an easy decision purchase to make for your collection. And that Young cover is becoming a classic as the years go by.

Spider-Man Deadpool #1 – This is the team up comic many Marvel fans have been clamoring for. It’s going to be a great ongoing title. Wait until they bring the Spider-Gwen/Gwenpool team up into the fray as we are predicting. Wow will this be a huge comic. And the Liefeld variant to go along with that team up? Yes, it’s going to be big. Well, we’re getting ahead of ourselves, but that Gamestop Spider-Man Deadpool variant is creating quite a stir in the aftermarket itself!

Howard The Duck #3 – Speaking of Gwenpool, last week InvestComics gave fans a heads up on this variant. There was some kind of delay in putting these out for sale. Now that they go on sale THIS week, they’re sold out! Good luck finding a copy at your local retailer. Click the link, get it on Ebay.

Doctor Strange Vol 4 #4 – Deadpool wins! Wins the most appearances in the InvestComics Top 5 list that is. Here he is again appearing on a random Doctor Strange variant.

Swamp Thing #1 – Swamp Thing gets another redo. Seems many DC Comics these days are, but that’s a conversation for another time. As said in the InvestComics Hot Picks article, Swamp Thing has always fared well for DC as far as longevity is concerned. This title should be no different then past success with writer Len Wein and artist Kelley Jones at the helm. Get your read on here, this is going to be awesome.

Nova #1 9.0

IC 100 Club Pick – Nova #1 (1976) – First appearance of Nova – Click To Buy It Now

Before we hit the Hot Picks this week, we wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! To bring in the New Year we’re going to debut a new feature within the Hot Picks articles. It will be called “The IC 100 Club”. This new feature will post a comic book that will be click-able to buy/bid on Ebay and cost $100 (or $99). We do not own/sell the comics we post about. Every click-able comic is from any/all Ebay sellers on Ebay that have the particular comic we feature within their inventory (the same applies to all of our articles – please see our disclaimer). The idea here is to point out a comic on Ebay that is affordable and has some substance/value to it within the $100 mark. This is a trial feature and we will probably expand on this feature as time goes on. As of right now, the InvestComics Facebook page already features a random spot called “InvestComics Ebay Find”. The feature on Facebook gives fans an opportunity to check out random comics we see fit and sharing. Maybe our IC 100 Club will expand on there? Maybe we will have an IC 50 Club pick too? Maybe a featured article on InvestComics? All in good time friends!
The first IC 100 Club book is Nova #1 (1976) graded 9.0. The first appearance of Nova. Grab this for $100 with free shipping. InvestComics has written about the Nova character for years and this book is a beauty. Maybe get it pressed and bump up the grade a bit? Either way, a 9.0 for $100 is a fine purchase. It’s a “Buy It Now”, so good luck!

Four Eyes Hearts of Fire #1 will continue where Four Eyes (2010) left off. The new release will be from the original 2008 team; Writter Joe Kelly and Pencils by Max Fiumara.
Gotta love the disturbingly eerie cover to IDW’s The Eighth Seal #2 (cover at the bottom of this article). Kudos to Travel Foreman here.

NOTE. Please understand that when InvestComics releases the Hot Picks article on Friday that many of the independent comics may not be available on Ebay yet. Most of the time, some of the more obscure titles make their way onto Ebay later on in the week or right on/at/before new comic book day on Wednesday. Be sure to check back and click the links or cover(s) to see if the books you want have been listed on Ebay. They usually show up, so be sure to check back!

Swamp Thing comics have always fared rather well for DC Comics. Many restarts/volumes lasting many years. One of which lasted 14 years. That’s quite an amazing feat to have any comic last that long. The original co-creator, legend Len Wein (writer) will be given the task of making Swamp Thing relevant in today’s crowded superhero genre. Swamp Thing #1 features Len as the writer and art from the great Kelley Jones. We think Swampy will succeed here, not only because of the tremendous talent on this book, but maybe because of the craving of something “different” within the comic book selection on the shelf from one of the “big 2”. We’re not saying there aren’t any assorted titles from DC or Marvel to choose from outside the costumed hero lure, but Swamp Thing is not your average everyday superhero comic.
A fantastic comic to possess in your collection is House of Secrets #92 (1971). Not only is this comic the first appearance of Swamp Thing, but it’s also Len Wein writing with another legend on pencils; Bernie Wrightson. What is there not to love about this comic? Seriously.

The ever so popular Injustice comic story line reaches its pinnacle. Check out Injustice Gods Among Us Year Five #1.

A-Force #1 gets a new number one issue after 6 months of it’s previous number one issue. In the July 2015 number one issue release, Singularity was introduced. She leads the team in the 2016 number one issue this coming Wednesday. Whew, got all that? The coolest thing about all of this? The ridiculously awesome N.W.A. A-Force #1 cover. Ahh, the good ol’ days!

The Vader Down crossover story concludes in Darth Vader #15.
A Deadpool variant cover for the new Doctor Strange Vol 4 #4 comic? Yep. A bit random no? Slow sales??

InvestComics spoke about Howard The Duck #3 (Vol 5) last week as the Marvel Hot Pick of the week. Read that article right HERE if you’d like. It was delayed, it comes out this week and guess what?? It’s sold out.
Two other delayed comics already touched on last week that will release THIS Wednesday; Obi-Wan and Anakin #1 and Rocket Raccoon and Groot #1.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

Here is a copy and paste directly from the InvestComics Facebook page (You really really should get over and like our Facebook page. A lot of individual comic picks, contest announcements and interesting things happening over there!) from November 30th………..
The Spider-Man/Deadpool team-up comic will put two very successful characters together in one book every month. We will most likely see a Spider-Gwen/Gwenpool team-up within these pages too. Probably a Rob Liefeld variant or two as well. With all of that cool stuff waiting in the horizon, here’s the first team-up with Spider-Man and Deadpool for mega cheap on Ebay. X-Force #4 (1991).”
Now granted there are probably enough copies of this comic to fill up Yankees Stadium, but it’s probably close to if not maybe a little more/less than say a New Mutants #98 (1991) comic. Maybe you’ve heard of that comic? And let us stress here, in no way are we comparing the first appearance of Deadpool to the first time Spidey and Deadpool appear in the same comic, but X-Force #4 is a significant issue in regards to the history of these two characters. Another comic to buy would be Amazing Spider-Man #611 (2009). This comic features the first time Deadpool appears in a Spider-Man title. It might be the better buy even though it’s 19 years after they first met up in the X-Force book! It’s the first Spidey book and it probably has a lower print run than the 1991 X-Force book. A bit astonishing actually that it took 19 years for Deadpool to make it over into a Spidey book. Crazy right?
Writer Joe Kelly and artist Ed McGuiness will absolutely kill it with the new team-up title. As we also mentioned in our Facebook post, wait until the first Gwenpool/Spider-Gwen team-up hits. The comic book internet will explode. Especially the Rob Liefeld variant or the Robbi Rodriguez variant. It’s going to be big and we predict it will eventually happen in this title. Anyway you slice it (no pun intended) Spider-Man Deadpool #1 will be sold out very soon. One last thing, that Gamestop variant (pictured at the top of this article) is an instant classic. Only one available on Ebay right now.Probably many more to come, sit tight.
Staying on topic for a moment here. Did the aftermarket go out of your range regarding that first appearance of Deadpool? Fear no more! Behold True Believers Deadpool #1! A reprint of New Mutants #98. The same cover and all too. Neato! (AW). Bet there will be less copies of this comic than the original 1991 version! Not many of these appearing on Ebay at the present time, once again, sit tight. They will be coming.

Creature Entertainment will give fans Bubba the Redneck Werewolf one shot this Wednesday. Based on the long running series from Mitch Hyman. Written by Mitch and art from Roberto Torres. Fun times here!

An all new featured article on InvestComics…..

Throughout the years InvestComics has explained that there is something within the speculative/collectors market that is just as important as the first appearance of a character. Sometimes an overlooked nugget, but most are privy to it. A characters second appearance is not only a fun get, but sometimes very affordable. Sometimes not, therein is the chance to make your decision as an investor to jump in or not. We cannot make that decision for you, nor would we. We will simply guide you and the rest is up to you.

We are proud to present a new regular feature on InvestComics called Second Appearances. Here you will see a list of comics featuring some A list characters and not so A list characters. Either way, the speculator will have an inside track on a characters second appearance. What if a character blows up and the first appearance is out of reach financially? Very simple actually, buy the second appearance. Some of the naysayers may say, what and why the second appearance? Well, the fact that two of the premiere grading companies (CBCS and CGC) recognize and highlight second appearances is clue enough. It’s a factor within the hobby. It is important, so why not go with the flow and start getting some of those second appearances? As said earlier, some of them are surprisingly affordable too.

The inaugural edition of InvestComics’ Second Appearances article.

Click the RED links or comic cover to Buy/Bid right from the article. A new window will open, your place will not be lost.

The Amazing Spider-Man #195 (1979) Second Black Cat appearance. Marv Wolman writes, art by Keith Pollard.

Fantastic Four #53 (1966) The second Black Panther. Stan Lee writes, Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott art. First appearance of Klaw. Origin of both Black Panther and Klaw. A very nice buy right now.

Incredible Hulk Annual #5 (1976) The true second appearance of Groot. Appearing in a reprint issue after his first appearance, this comic is a NEW Groot story, thus making it more of a second appearance than the Where Monsters Dwell #6 (1970) comic. Written by Chris Claremont/Len Wein, art by Sal Buscema and cover by Jack Kirby.

Amazing Spider-Man #134 (1974) Second appearance of the Punisher. Also the first appearance of the Tarantula. A surprisingly affordable comic in the aftermarket.

Fantastic Four #49 (1966) Second Silver Surfer, first full appearance of Galactus and first time Silver Surfer and Galactus appear on the cover together. A classic comic from Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Joe Sinnott.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 12/10/14

Lots of comics to cover this week. Hope you have your reading glasses handy and some cash in your pocket this Wednesday.

Uncanny_X-Men_59_InvestComics Spider_Man_Xmen_InvestComics Marvel_Team_Up_19_InvestComicsThe fun starts with Spider-Man and the X-Men (2014) #1. A team-up every fan always loves. This comic will feature the Jurassic Park storyline. Well not really, but it will have two characters from way back in time appear (way back in history time, not real time). Suaron and Stegron (aka the Dinosaur Man). If you’re in the market for a couple of easy gets, Marvel Team-Up #19 from 1974 features the first appearance of Stegron. The best part of this comic; Gil Kane on pencil duties and Len Wein on writing duties. Then you have the big bird (not that big bird) first appearance; Suaron first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #59 (1969). That book had Neil Adams on art duties and the team of Chris Claremont/Roy Thomas on script duties. So there you have it, C level first appearances from A level Legends from the industry. Those are purchases/signature series/graded comics waiting to happen. Not for resale value, for keepsake value. They may not rise in significant value at a quick rate, but they are collectors items because of the names attached.

With the Dr. Strange frenzy upon us within the speculation world, it’s funny how All New Ultimates (2014) #11 plays a part in this Dr_Strange_78_InvestComics Ultimates_Ecstasy_InvestComicsmadness ever so slightly this coming week. You see, the ultimate Ecstasy is making her second appearance in the Ultimate universe. Her first being the previous issue. Ecstasy first appeared with the Dr. Strange universe in 1986’s Dr. Strange #78. Now what does this mean to you? Well it means that if Marvel Studios reaches into their vast character library and pulls her out to be a part of the movie….well you know the rest. This comic as of right now is probably sitting in some 25 cent long box someplace. Not a bad investment here for a quarter right? If anyone finds a few for a quarter, be sure to send a couple to our PO Box as a thank you.

As always, if you’re a regular visitor to the InvestComics website, you will know that these Hot Pick articles have made many speculators turn over some serious cash. The recommendations and predictions that have come to fruition are boundless. There is simply NO other comic book website that has been doing this since 2005. None. In the new Earth 2 Worlds End (2014) #10 Darkseid will be wreaking havoc once again and once again I implore you to get his first appearance before it becomes too far out of reach (see Thanos, which InvestComics recommended many many years ago to buy). The first appearance of Darkseid comes with some ridiculous cameo/first full appearance mumbo-jumbo. As with Incredible Hulk #180/181 does, but with Darkseid, it works the way it’s suppose to work. The cameo in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (1970) seems to pull more weight in some markets than does Forever People #1 (1971) which features his first FULL appearance. Nonsense really. A cameo is the absolute first appearance ever of a character, end of story. The cameo should always command more money. Not an arm, a leg, an eye, or a foot, a full body/full face AND more importantly the mention of their name. Wolverine first appeared in Hulk #180, that’s it. Darkseid first appears in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134, that’s it. Let’s stop having the nonsense of the stronghold collectors in our hobby dictate what is what. A first look at someone is in fact their first appearance ever, not cameo or anything related to not recognizing the first appearance and that’s it. You can twist it twenty ways till Sunday, it’s their first appearance. Darkseid was mentioned by NAME in issue #134. He then went on to appear in the very next issue too! Yet Forever People #1 is labeled as First FULL appearance and commands some bucks. Wolverine was even mentioned by NAME in Hulk #180, what more do you need in that case too? Absurd. So anyway, getting off the soapbox now I will say that Jimmy Olsen #134 is a get. InvestComics recommended this comic as an extremely strong buy back in mid 2013 right HERE. Not only will you find the MUST buy here, but a Darkseid checklist too! Yes InvestComics is awesome we know.

Forever_People_1_InvestComics Superman_Jimmy_Olsen_InvestComics Earth_2_InvestComics

Spider-Verse Team Up (2014) #2 continues with the red hot Gwen Stacy Spider-Woman. InvestComics did inform you to buy the first Gwen Spidey here on InvestComics Hot Picks right? Oh yes yes of course we did! Anytime anyone wants to donate some hot recommendations to InvestComics, the PO Box is below! Haha! You’ll get a mention on here too, a plug, whatever you want!

Harley_Quinn_InvestComics Spider_Man_InvestComicsAlthough only one comic is completely sold out this week at Diamond, a few are right on the cusp. Let’s do a quick roundup here. Devil’s Due has a hit on their hands with Solitary (2014) #1. The cover is very reminiscent of the cooled down, but once red hot Adventures of Superman #14. Sinergy (2014 Image) #2 is a sold out comic walking. If you’re a fan, get it before it goes to the second print. Look for Bitch Planet (2014) #1 to sell out as well. A fantastic creative team delves into the woman’s prison system. Sounds like a hoot! The popular East of West gets a new number issue; East of West The World (2014) #0. And it’s sold out already. While Magdalena has always been popular among fans and a fun read, it never did or does well in the spectator market. Magdalena Seventh Sacrament (2014 Image) #1 will sell out and no one in the aftermarket will care. Erik Larsen pulls out all the stops with his nearly sold out anniversary comic; Savage Dragon (1993 2nd Series) #200. A few variant covers accompany this milestone issue. Congrats to one of the hardest working creators in the industry; Erik Larsen. Avatar has quietly put together a nice intelligent read comic series with God is Dead. This week however, God is Dead (2013 Avatar) #25 will have a double sized, new story arc jumping on point. So what are you waiting for? Jump on. Nothing like have some squirrels kick some ass in a comic book. Check out Squarriors (2014 Devils Due) #1 for some reading and squirrels kicking ass. Harley Quinn + number one issue = a hot comic; Harley Quinn Holiday Special (2014) #1. Although this doesn’t give any hints of significance or smell like a funny cigarette, so don’t expect anything to smell too good from this one but a very awesome Harley book.

Gwen_Stacy_Spider_Woman_InvestComics Savage_Dragon_200_InvestComics Solitary_InvestComics

And wrapping up, here are some must read and gets from the number one issue market; The Valiant (2014 Valiant) #1, Guardians of the Galaxy (2013 3rd Series) Annual #1, Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) Annual #1, Uncanny X-Men (2013 3rd Series) Annual #1, Eternal (2014 Boom) #1, and Itty Bitty Bunnies Cock Fight (2014) #1.

See you soon. Invest wisely.

Incredible Hulk #180 – First Wolverine PAGE Appearance Ever Up For Auction

Many comic book collectors know that Wolverine’s first appearance is in The Incredible Hulk #181. Then on the other hand, many TRUE collectors know that Wolverine first appeared in the issue prior and not in #181. Why issue #181 commands the money it does and not issue #180 is a debate for another day…….

So now issue #180 will finally get the respect it so deservedly ask for. The original page that features the FIRST ever Wolverine appearance will be up for auction to raise money for Hero Initiative. The page was drawn by Herb Trimpe, written by Len Wein with inks by Jack Abel.

This will be huge and maybe just maybe this will help bump up The Incredible Hulk #180 a bit too!

The first ever InvestComics Publications comic book ever; The Dawning #1 have arrived! Look for more information coming very soon!!

The Dawning #1 InvestComics Publications

DC Comic fans are showing a tremendous outpouring of support regarding their 3D covers. The slick covers have taken the comic shops and the collectors market by storm. The trend continues this week for DC Comics as well as InvestComics. For the past couple of weeks InvestComics has detailed each 3D villain cover with the first appearance of that character. However, the villain pool seems to be thinning out just a bit with some of these adversaries. Perfect time to get that rare breakout book isn’t it? Do not miss any of these comics, there is a potential sleeper(s) hidden amongst the crowd this week. Buckle in; it’s been a fun ride so far as we anticipate more aftermarket greatness! And as always some fantastic reads!

Wonder Woman (2011 4th Series) #23.1 – Probably one of the weakest villain books of all this week with Cheetah clawing her way into the life of our favorite Amazonian. Cheetah made here first appearance back in 1943’s Wonder Woman #6. Look at that cover! Now look at the current cover. Yes time has been treating Cheetah nicely. Aged well.

Action Comics (2011 2nd Series) #23.3 – Good ol’ Lex Luthor comes a’knockin this week. Of course one of the most recognizable villains of all time; Luthor’s debut came in Action Comics #23 (1940).

Superman (2011 3rd Series) #23.3 – A more recent villain takes the reigns over on the Superman comic this week; H’el is his name and he made his first appearance way back in Supergirl #13 in 2012.

Batman and Robin (2011 2nd Series) #23.3 – A twofer issue, Ra’s al Ghul and League of Assassins. Check out Ra’s debut in the Neal Adams/Denny O’ Neil classic Batman #232 (1971) and League of Assassins made their debut in Strange Adventures #215 (1968) with a Neal Adams cover art.

Swamp Thing (2011 5th Series) #23.1 – While Antone Arcane is not a household name, the first appearance of Arcane came at the helm of one of the most prolific horror penciler’s of all time. He is in fact ‘THE’ horror artist. Swamp Thing #2 (1973) was the first appearance of Arcane drawn by Berni Wrightson. Will the first appearance of Arcane ever stack up against the Ra’s al Ghul or Luthor’s of the world? Probably not, but owning this comic complements any collection. A classic from a legendary artist (and writer, Len Wein!), this is a win.

Batman The Dark Knight (2011 2nd Series) #23.3 – Clayface first appeared in Batman #40 (1940) from creators Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson. Nuff said.

Teen Titans (2011 4th Series) #23.2 – Here we have one of those villains on the cusp of a huge breakout. Already appearing on the hit television show Arrow, Deathstroke will have to make it to the big screen if DC/Warner Bros ever get their comics to film in order. Why would he “have to” make it to the big screen you may ask? Because he’s beloved by comic fans alike, he’s a total bad as*, and he would translate beautifully to the big screen. If you are in the market for a comic that has tremendous upside potential, look no further than The New Teen Titans #2 (1980). Already a high valued comic, it has more room to uptick. The debut of Deathstroke is brought to you by the team of George Perez and Marv Wolfman. What are you waiting for? Go get this comic.

Batman (2011 2nd Series) #23.3 – Penguin’s debut – Detective Comics #58 (1941)

Justice League (2011) #23.3 – Dial ‘H’ for Hero first appears in House of Mystery #156 (1966).

Detective Comics (2011 2nd Series) #23.3 – There were rumors a while back that the Scarecrow was to appear in the next Batman flick. If this occurs, it will mean an already nice payday for the owners of World’s Finest Comics #3 (1941) – first appearance of Scarecrow. Here’s a funny fact. Did you know that back in the day that shock jock Howard Stern turned down the part of the Scarecrow? That would have been something huh?

Justice League of America (2013 3rd Series) #7.3 – The very first Shadow Thief was a male. He appeared The Brave and the Bold #36 (1955).

Flash (2011) #23.3 – The Rogues are an important group because when, not if, when the Flash movie finally makes it to your local theater, this group should be considered as the villains for the film. Yes too much for a first film, but what about the sequel? Yes a big stretch here, but the glass is always half full here at InvestComics! Check out their debut in Flash #130 (1962).

Justice League Dark (2011) #23.2 – A weak showing with Eclipso at the forefront here. Fantastic 3D cover though! House of Secrets #61 (1963) houses the first appearance of Eclipso.

Green Lantern (2011 4th Series) #23.3 – The Black Hand joins the Forever Evil fray. With a Gil Kane cover; Green Lantern #29 (1964) is a nice book to own, first appearance of Black Hand.

That covers your 3D fix for this week. Now onto the Hot Picks!

DC’s hit series Arrow will bring a television character to “life” in the comic books for the first time. Check out Arrow (2012 DC) #11 for the debut of Roy Harper!

Marvel Comics will bring back the Jester in Daredevil (2011 3rd Series) #31, a long time nuisance for our beloved Daredevil. The Jester debut in Daredevil #42 (1968) written by some guy named Stan Lee. Another return this week from Marvel happens in Thor God of Thunder (2012) #13. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year, the name Malekith the Accursed should ring a bell. He will be in the new Thor movie coming out this November. Most are probably aware by now too that Thor #344 holds the first appearance of this villain. If you have this comic, be sure to dump it very soon, prices will be coming down very quick once the hype wears off. Malekith is a onetime deal here. He probably will not be showing up in any other Marvel film after this one. Also from Marvel this week, Superior Carnage (2013) #3 will debut of the all new Carnage! This one will fly off the shelf, grab a copy.

Two number one comics are sold out at Diamond this week. Get your hands on these if you can. Zero (2013 Image) #1 will be seeing second printings very shortly, a huge interest in this book. Also Transformers Regeneration One (2012 IDW) #0 is sold out! Maybe a short print run here? Who knows, but IDW seems to have struck a chord with the Transformers base.

Two Dark Horse number one comics to check out this week are Kiss Me Satan (2013) #1 and Buzzkill #1.
