An oversized anniversary issue brings out some dramatic storytelling and talent. The monthly superstar creators on this book Charles Soule and Ron Garney deliver a ‘surprise ending’ that will shock readers. And as expected, a ton of variants to choose from. The Joe Quesada Daredevil #600 variant is the trending book to grab. Speaking of crazy endings, Marvel promises a “a quadruple sized cliffhanger, you will not want to miss…” in Invincible Iron Man #600. The funny thing is, Invincible Iron Man #598 comes out this Wednesday with THAT very solicit about issue 600. Marvel churns up that hyper machine a bit early don’t they? Although they are saying too that Invincible Iron Man #598 will be leading into that comic, so get on board now I guess. Choo-choo! All-Aboard! Damnation Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider #1; Writer Christopher Sebela and artist Phil Noto. In what has become a regular thing with local comic shops regarding the weekly Avengers “No Surrender” storyline, most are limiting ONE copy per customer during the new release. The Hulk is back, and? What’s with the hype here for speculators forcing shops to limit one per customer almost every week with this comic? Avengers #686 gets a lot of attention this week and gets the ‘One Per’ tag underneath it at many shops.
Buy/Bid – Metal #6
Buy/Bid – Doomsday #4
Buy/Bid – Peek-A-Boo #1
Stabbity Bunny #3

DC Comics concludes their epic Metal run with Dark Nights Metal #6. This finale either paves the way to the “DC Cosmic Universe” or lends to it. Either way, this final issue is guaranteed to garner some steam. Suicide Squad #38, ‘Tear Down The Wall’ part one. Writer Rob Williams, artist Jose Luis and Mick Gray. As previous discussed within the confines of the InvestComics Hot Picks articles, delays kill. They kill momentum. Do fans still care about ‘Doomsday Clock’? Guess we’ll find out this Wednesday as it’s been over six(?) weeks or more since we left off with issue three. Sales and reaction regarding Doomsday Clock #4this week will speak volumes coming back from a long delay.

InvestComics Indie Hot Picks; Indie comics do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after. It’s no secret Scout Comics has a huge trending comic on their hands. Stabbity Bunny has grabbed the attention of readers and speculators alike. The release of Stabbity Bunny #3 will be no different then the previous two issues. It will sell out. Get your early. Oh yes, one more thing. Are you aware of the exclusive limited Stabbity Bunny #3 cover we’re giving away? It’s signed and remarked by creator/writer Richard Rivera. Go right HERE and grab the knowledge on how to enter. One more thing, at a recent show, Scout Comics gave InvestComics a peek into a lot of their future projects. Scout Comics is just scratching the surface here. Comic fans are in for some great product(s). This is not hyperbole. Valiant Entertainment will going all in with their new Shadowman #1 release. A big market push by them is warranted. Star creator power Andy Diggle and Stephen Segovia add to the confidence level here. A ridiculously well told story along with superb art delivers this Shadowman series comic on a new level. Look for some trending tracks on this comic as interest starts to spread after readers get a hold of this one. InvestComics Hot Picks already highlighted Zenescope’s Peek-A-Boo #1 (2 weeks ago?) as a release to check out. A delay pushed it back to this week. Now, the trend shows it’s just about sold out. Best get your copy if you can or you’ll be picking up that second print. Writer Joe Brusha introduces readers to his creepy horror world. A new hit comic on the horizon for Black Mask. Check out Breathless #1. Creators Patrick Shand and Renzo Rodriguez. Two new releases from Alterna Comics, Zero Jumper #1; Patrick Mulholland and Tinseltown #1; David Lucarelli and Henry Ponciano. From Mad Cave Studios; Battlecats #1. Creators Mark London and Andy King. Cyberforce #1 (Top Cow); creators Matt Hawkins, Bryan Hill and Atilio Rojo. Crow Memento Mori #1 (IDW); creators Roberto Recchioni and Werther DellEdera. Adventure Time BMO Bonanza #1 (Boom Studios); creator Laura Langston.

Edge of Venomverse #1 – Read our thoughts on this new Venom summer mini-event HERE. Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1 – We stated in our Hot Picks article that out of all of the Looney Tunes crossovers going on within the last few weeks, this one will be the most interesting. Word out on the street is, it is. Wonder Woman #25 – Writer Greg Rucka brings years of story lines together in this extra sized issue. Spawn #1 Encore Edition – This Todd McFarlane Ultimate Spider-Man cover swipe comic is sold out. Secret Weapon #1 – Valiant Entertainment brings a new series with a lot of fanfare behind it.

DC Comics will begin two new storylines this Wednesday. Flash #25 ‘Running Scared’, written by Joshua Williamson and art by Carmine Di Giandomenico. This issue will give you more bang for the buck, it’s ‘extra sized’. Suicide Squad #20 begins the ‘False Flag’ story. Written by Rob Williams and art by Stjepan Sejic. Click on the RED links, Images or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay. DC’s Wonder Woman #25 extra sized issue focuses on every storyline since the Wonder Woman Rebirth era. That’s four major stories and maybe a few more sprinkled in. Writer Greg Rucka brings all of this together in one issue. Greg has been killing it on these pages of Wonder Woman, he will kill it here in this extra sized issue as well. Art from Liam Sharp and Bilquis Evely. Out of all of the DC/Looney Tunes crossover comics from recent weeks, Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1 seems to be the most interesting. The ultimate hunter hunts the ultimate darkness of night. This special is written by Tom King (no stranger to Batman!) and art by Byron Vaughns.

The ever so popular Venom character picks it up a notch in a new summer event starting in Edge of Venomverse #1. This series of books will create a bit of a frenzy as the next big breakout mash-up character will probably emerge. Who will it be? Will it be Venom Gwenpool, Venom Ghost Rider, Venom X-23, Venom Rocket Raccoon, Venom Doctor Strange, Venom Cap, Venom Deadpool, and the list goes on. So the best advice we offer here is to buy anything regarding the Venomverse so you don’t miss that boat on any mash-up that may breakout. First and foremost you’ll be getting a Venom story delivered by excellent writer Cullen Bunn, so it’s a win right there even if a character never does breakout into a spin-off or create a ridiculous speculative aftermarket surge. Readers will learn more about the character named Malarus in Star Wars: Poe Dameron #16. The first time we saw Malarus was back in Star Wars: Poe Dameron #13. Click on theRED links, Images or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay. And speaking of Star Wars, if you like stories with very little dialog, then maybe Star Wars Droids Unplugged #1 will be for you. The comic drives on the concept of following three Droids and their adventures; R2D2, BB-8 and the Probe Droids. So with that synopsis, we assume there won’t be much story dialog getting driven here. Safe to assume this, no? They’re Droids! On the contrary though, back in 1986, Marvel went this route with Star Wars: Droids #1 from their Star Comics imprint. However, lots of dialog in this eight-part series. C3PO led the way with his talkative self, hence lots of dialog. He never shuts up! One of the true highlights of the first five issues has to be the legendary John Romita Sr. penciling all five covers and did the interior for the first four issues. That in itself is a reason to have this series in your collection. The amazing writing skills of Greg Pak continues as his mash-up will come to life sooner or later; Hulk/Wolverine….or whatever they call ‘it’. Check out Totally Awesome Hulk #20 for part two of Weapons of Mutant Destruction. We really cannot wait for the title ‘Totally Awesome..’ to go away. It’s so silly and juvenile. It’ll happen, just need Marvel to realize how silly it really is and that will happen eventually. We guarantee it.
Ryan Stegman provides a fantastic variant for the Deadpool vs. Punisher #5 finale. The Spider-Gwen #21 cover shows off the new Wolverine Earth-65 introduced in the previous issue. Fanboy’s worse nightmare continues in Secret Empire #5. Cap is still Hydra. Deal. Click on the RED links, Images or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay. Marvel continues their Mary Jane in cosplay covers this week. Although it’s not called that, we call it that. Don’t like it? Well call it whatever you want on your blog. Four covers are featured in this article. These are the ones we dig the most from new comic book day.
InvestComics Indie Hot Picks; One of the biggest board games of all-time will debut in comic book form. Clue #1 (IDW), written by Paul Allor and drawn by Nelson Daniel. There will be three different endings across multiple books to help the reader feature out how to solve the case. Click on theRED links, Images or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay. Spawn fans get a double dose of their favorite demon torn hero this Wednesday. Spawn #1 Encore Edition features lots of goodies from the original Spawn #1 issue 25 years ago. It’ll have art boards, McFarlane commentary and Image promises some surprises as well. Todd McFarlane’s cover is a direct homage to Joe Quesada’s Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (2000). We love it. Also, Spawn #275 sees the return of Sam and Twitch. They first appeared in Spawn #1.

Valiant Entertainment is about to release their latest comic to rave reviews. The comic is Secret Weapon #1 and it will sell out, thus leading to a second print by next week. The stories leading player is Livewire. She was first introduced into the Valiant Universe in 1993’s Harbinger #14. Livewire then was reintroduced into the NEW Valiant Universe in 2012’s Harbinger #3. We’ve said this before (lots of times before….lots), if you really want to READ a comic book and get 100% viable substance from a well told story(s), Valiant Entertainment is the way to go. We cannot stress this enough. Secret Weapon #1 is going to get comic fans talking, best be on it so you’re in the know and not the what. Look for another sell out/hit from Black Mask Comics. Beautiful Canvas #1, written by Ryan Lindsay and art by Sami Kivela. Two new comics to check out from Scout Comics this week. Tinkers of the Wasteland #1, writer/art by Raul Trevino. Scout Comics releases a second issue never released before with a hit number one comic, together. Super cool to read Necromantical Ultimate Collection 1 with that second issue this Wednesday. Keenspot’s Softball #1 follows a YouTube series pulling in over 100 million views. That’s a whole lot of views! Writer/art Bill Blankenship. Alterna Comics continue their torrid pace within the industry with the reintroduction of the ‘old comic print’ comics. This week they continue that onslaught with Scrimshaw #1. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this new (old) comic format, we suggest you do. It’s nostalgic to the older crowd and the newer crowds get to see how cool it was to read a comic book the ‘old’ way. The material inside the pages of all the Alterna Comics releases within this new format has been on point too, so you’ll be purchasing a good story/art as well. What else does a comic fan need? Scrimshaw #1; written by Eric Borden and art by Dave Mims.

That’s a whole lot of new storylines beginning right? Putting aside all of the part one stories coming from DC this week, a new number one issue, Justice League Of America Rebirth #1 debuts. Steve Orlando writes, Ivan Reis draws. A crazy Justice League team this time around. Lobo, Black Canary, Atom, Killer Frost, The Ray, and of course Batman. That’s an odd bunch right?
A nice touch with the Star Wars Doctor Aphra #4 40th anniversary variant cover. Artist Pepe Larraz offers Star Wars fans a still from the very first Star Wars movie from 1977 of the Leia hologram scene. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #17 makes it to the InvestComics Hot Picks list. We’ve always thought the character is a bit overrated due to too much speculation around a possible appearance either on television or film. Of course this news (from a while ago) has not really come to fruition (yet?), but because of many collectors are holding into this news, her first appearance has not really come down to correct levels. That all said, always a vague solicit for this comic each month. A “cool way” to stay hip we guess. Maybe a new adversary debuts in this issue, but we do know that Erica Henderson’s cover pays homage to Superman #1 (1939). Remember to click these red links or comic covers to buy/bid on the comics (all available Ebay sellers) we tell you about! Kingpin will get his own ongoing series this Wednesday; Kingpin #1. Writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Ben Torres deliver this debut issue. We all know Kingpin’s first appearance is in Amazing Spider-Man #50 (1967), but he first appeared in a Daredevil comic in Daredevil #170 (1981). Writer/artist Frank Miller forever changed the Kingpin character from that point on.
