Suicide Squad #38

An oversized anniversary issue brings out some dramatic storytelling and talent. The monthly superstar creators on this book Charles Soule and Ron Garney deliver a ‘surprise ending’ that will shock readers. And as expected, a ton of variants to choose from. The Joe Quesada Daredevil #600 variant is the trending book to grab.
Speaking of crazy endings, Marvel promises a “a quadruple sized cliffhanger, you will not want to miss…” in Invincible Iron Man #600. The funny thing is, Invincible Iron Man #598 comes out this Wednesday with THAT very solicit about issue 600. Marvel churns up that hyper machine a bit early don’t they? Although they are saying too that Invincible Iron Man #598 will be leading into that comic, so get on board now I guess. Choo-choo! All-Aboard!
Damnation Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider #1; Writer Christopher Sebela and artist Phil Noto.
In what has become a regular thing with local comic shops regarding the weekly Avengers “No Surrender” storyline, most are limiting ONE copy per customer during the new release. The Hulk is back, and? What’s with the hype here for speculators forcing shops to limit one per customer almost every week with this comic? Avengers #686 gets a lot of attention this week and gets the ‘One Per’ tag underneath it at many shops.

Buy/Bid – Metal #6

Buy/Bid – Doomsday #4

Buy/Bid – Peek-A-Boo #1

Stabbity Bunny #3

Click on the RED links, Images or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay

DC Comics concludes their epic Metal run with Dark Nights Metal #6. This finale either paves the way to the “DC Cosmic Universe” or lends to it. Either way, this final issue is guaranteed to garner some steam.
Suicide Squad #38, ‘Tear Down The Wall’ part one. Writer Rob Williams, artist Jose Luis and Mick Gray.
As previous discussed within the confines of the InvestComics Hot Picks articles, delays kill. They kill momentum. Do fans still care about ‘Doomsday Clock’? Guess we’ll find out this Wednesday as it’s been over six(?) weeks or more since we left off with issue three. Sales and reaction regarding Doomsday Clock #4 this week will speak volumes coming back from a long delay.

Buy/Bid – Breathless #1

Buy/Bid – Shadowman #1

Buy/Bid – Tinseltown #1

Buy/Bid – Zero Jumper #1

Avengers #686

InvestComics Indie Hot Picks; Indie comics do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after.
It’s no secret Scout Comics has a huge trending comic on their hands. Stabbity Bunny has grabbed the attention of readers and speculators alike. The release of Stabbity Bunny #3 will be no different then the previous two issues. It will sell out. Get your early. Oh yes, one more thing. Are you aware of the exclusive limited Stabbity Bunny #3 cover we’re giving away? It’s signed and remarked by creator/writer Richard Rivera. Go right HERE and grab the knowledge on how to enter. One more thing, at a recent show, Scout Comics gave InvestComics a peek into a lot of their future projects. Scout Comics is just scratching the surface here. Comic fans are in for some great product(s). This is not hyperbole.
Valiant Entertainment will going all in with their new Shadowman #1 release. A big market push by them is warranted. Star creator power Andy Diggle and Stephen Segovia add to the confidence level here. A ridiculously well told story along with superb art delivers this Shadowman series comic on a new level. Look for some trending tracks on this comic as interest starts to spread after readers get a hold of this one.
InvestComics Hot Picks already highlighted Zenescope’s Peek-A-Boo #1 (2 weeks ago?) as a release to check out. A delay pushed it back to this week. Now, the trend shows it’s just about sold out. Best get your copy if you can or you’ll be picking up that second print. Writer Joe Brusha introduces readers to his creepy horror world.
A new hit comic on the horizon for Black Mask. Check out Breathless #1. Creators Patrick Shand and Renzo Rodriguez.
Two new releases from Alterna Comics, Zero Jumper #1; Patrick Mulholland and Tinseltown #1; David Lucarelli and Henry Ponciano.
From Mad Cave Studios; Battlecats #1. Creators Mark London and Andy King.
Cyberforce #1 (Top Cow); creators Matt Hawkins, Bryan Hill and Atilio Rojo.
Crow Memento Mori #1 (IDW); creators Roberto Recchioni and Werther DellEdera.

Creator Spotlight – Michael Turner

Michael Turner Wonder Woman

The comic industry lost one of the industries best talents eight years ago. Michael Turner would have turned 45 years old on April 21st. He was a fan favorite that delivered on every single cover he put out. His pencils were unmistakable. His covers were remarkable. Michael died on June 27th 2008 at the young age of 37. Gone way too soon, but he left fans with the memory of his work. A vast body of work that spans from 1994 to 2008. Recently though, Turner’s art has been showing up once again through exclusive variant covers. They’ve garnered a lot of attention and have sold out….quickly. Michael Turner is doing it again, making fans love him all over again.

Here are a few of our favorite books. We couldn’t list them all, so maybe your favorite was left off. No hard feelings. His body of work is simply too expansive. Too many to choose from. Enjoy our list below.

Thanks Michael, your work will always live on.

**Please note. There are many variations to Michael Turner comics. Many covers, many titles holding the the same name with different years, publishers, etc. When clicking the RED links or comic cover, some results will bring random comics not pertaining to the particular comic you clicked. Scroll down through the search result on Ebay to find the exact book you’re looking for.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 8/6/14

See Guardians of the Galaxy? Fun movie! No worries, no spoilers here, just some money to be made.

There are total gimmie’s within the speculation market this week. First you have Spread (2014 Image) #2. Spread #1 (InvestComics recommended) sold out very quickly and issue number two is sold out already as well. Nailbiter #1 was also recommended by InvestComics and the series continues to sell out with Nailbiter (2014 Image) #4 already empty on the warehouse shelf. Be sure to stay very close to this series. And another recommendation from IC is showing no signs of slowing down; Enormous (2014) Ongoing #2. Imperial (2014 Image) #1 also looks to be headed down to the sold out road.

[scrollGallery id=364]

Genius (2014 Image) #1 will be sold out by new release day. Genius was originally a Top Cow Pilot Season book back in 2008. Now it’s back and sold out.

ComixTribe had a big hit on their hands with Epic on Free comic book day. The number one issue sold out and now Epic (2013 ComixTribe) #2 looks to be headed in that same direction. In order for this series to succeed, and it probably will, is to release the comic on time with no delays. The story and character(s) are already captivating. Being on time and great story telling usually equates to success, that goes with many comic titles, but Epic will be a special comic if the longevity of an on time comic can sustain itself. RELAUNCHING THE FUTURE WITH APHRODITE IX

Top Cow’s green-haired heroine returns with new series

Readers will get a chance to start reading APHRODITE IX for free this May 4, as Top Cow debuts the re-launched Top Cow series on Free Comic Book Day.

THINK TANK writer and Top Cow President Matt Hawkins teams up with fan-favorite artist Stjepan Sejic (ARTIFACTS, RAVINE) to bring Aphrodite IX, the green-haired, memory-challenged assassin to a new generation of readers. In a dystopian future populated by warring factions of the genetically modified and the cybernetically enhanced, Aphrodite IX awakes to world where the sky is scorched, humanity as it was known is gone and two disparate groups fight for survival and dominance of the very scarce resources left on what’s left of Earth.

“Aphrodite IX has always been my favorite character at Top Cow,” said Hawkins. “She’s interesting visually, combined with a personality that’s sort of out of control of her own experiences and lost in the tangled web of her own mind. Combining my love of real futuristic tech and genetics with Stjepan Sejic’s insane visuals we’re hoping the readers enjoy the ride.”

Aphrodite IX was originally created by David Wohl and David Finch in the best-selling graphic novel published in 1996, which is being offered again as part of the relaunch in a limited edition APHRODITE RELOADED hardcover edition this summer. The hardcover features updates to the script by series co-creator and writer David Wohl.

After May’s first, free issue, APHRODITE IX will continue on a monthly schedule, with issue #2 in stores on June 12. The full-color, eye-popping issues will be $2.99.

Little did readers know, however, that Christopher hid a message in each of the covers!

The Top Cow Universe is full of secrets, myths and hidden mysteries and no title embodies that more than our flagship — WITCHBLADE! And now, thanks to cover artist John Tyler Christopher (ARTIFACTS, Voodoo), the mystery is no contained only within the story pages between the covers. Beginning with WITCHBLADE #151, each “A” cover contains hidden clues within the art. Find the “artifacts” hidden in each of the covers to solve a puzzle. Fans who solve each puzzle will be able to unlock exclusive downloads and bonus material by going to http://www.topcow.com/community/promotions and entering the solution. But be warned, these puzzles are challenging!

Top Cow has teamed up with Wired’s GeekDad blog to exclusively debut this promotion beginning Monday, May 21. “One of the many reasons I love working with John is that, as an illustrator, he’s not only capable of producing some truly mesmerizing covers, but he’s always thinking outside the box,” said Top Cow Publisher FIlip Sablik. “The genesis of this idea really began with John’s desire to engage fans and give them more with every cover. And what better way to announce the project than on Wired, the best news source for innovation and technology?”

Fans can study each cover in depth both in the individual issues as well as the upcoming WITCHBLADE: Rebirth Volume 1 trade paperback, which collects WITCHBLADE #151-#155. The 144-page collection retails for $9.99 and is scheduled to be in stores June 6, 2012. WITCHBLADE #156 is in stores this week on May 23 and retails for $2.99. THE LAST ARTIFACT

THE LAST ARTIFACT

Critically Acclaimed Top Cow Series Approaches Finale

Berkeley, CA – 12 July 2011 – This September, the final issue of Image Comics and Top Cow Productions’ ARTIFACTS series will not only feature interior art by comic icon Dale Keown (BERSERKER, PITT), but will set the stage for the entire Top Cow Universe for the foreseeable future. ARTIFACTS, orchestrated by prolific writer Ron Marz (SHINKU, WITCHBLADE) and various artists including Jeremy Haun, has definitely proven to be a world-changing event in the Top Cow Universe.

Marz commented on his work on the upcoming finale: “Honestly, the hardest thing to do with any event series is make sure the ending is worthy of what’s come before. That’s where the real pressure comes in. So having an immense talent like Dale Keown joining me for issue #13 makes it a lot easier to stick the landing, so to speak. With Dale on board, ARTIFACTS #13 will be epic in every sense of the word. I’ve been lucky to work with Michael Broussard, Whilce Portacio and Jeremy Haun on the series, and Dale is the icing on the cake.”

Keown added, “Top-Cow has created some great characters and story lines for the ARTIFACTS series and I’m thrilled to be working on the finale issue!”

The epic story of ARTIFACTS has been organically threading the lives and fates of the many beloved Top Cow characters together, so that however events in this last issue unfold, all will be impacted. Beginning in October, Top Cow Productions will be scheduling an ARTIFACTS-related title a week, so readers can follow their favorite characters within WITCHBLADE, THE DARKNESS, and THE MAGDALENA, as well as a yet-to-be-announced fourth mystery titleafter the fallout of ARTIFACTS.

“I am so incredibly excited for September and beyond in the Top Cow Universe. Ron Marz and I first discussed ARTIFACTS over two years ago and it’s thrilling to see readers experience the story I’ve known about all along. It’s even more exciting to see Dale Keown return to interior work. No reboots, no relaunches, just an epic event and a manageable comic universe done right!”

ARTIFACTS #13 (JUL110439), a 32-page full color comic book, is available for order in the July issue of Previews Catalog for $3.99 and ARTIFACTS VOL. 2 TP (OCT108036) goes on sale August 3, 2011 for $15.99.

EPOCH: THE GREATEST TOURNAMENT EVER

EPOCH: THE GREATEST TOURNAMENT EVER
Kevin McCarthy & Paolo Pantalena To Debut New Supernatural Miniseries

Berkeley, CA – 22 June 2011 – Image Comics, Top Cow Productions, and Heroes and Villains Entertainment proudly present a dark and intensely kinetic tale from writer Kevin McCarthy (Red Sonja, The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist) and artist Paolo Pantalena (What If?: House of M, War of Kings: Darkhawk). EPOCH, a 5-part miniseries beginning in August, will introduce readers to a whole new reality which pits one supernatural creature against another in a dangerous competition.

“EPOCH meets all of my criteria for a cool comic: murder, mayhem, mythology, mystery, and monsters. And a hero that dresses like Ming the Merciless,” explained McCarthy. “EPOCH is the kind of comic I’d want to buy. Where else can you see an angel with inner demons solve the murder of a werewolf, pistol-whip a wizard, and run game on a gorgon?”

“When Heroes and Villains Entertainment presented us with EPOCH, we knew we had a terrifically dynamic, exciting world that comic fans would really respond to,” said Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik. “Kevin McCarthy has really brought the concept to life with a huge cast of fascinating characters and intrigue that will keep readers coming back month after month. And if that’s not enough, Paolo Pantalena’s art is sure to grab fans by their eyeballs and refuse to let go.”

As the story of EPOCH begins, NYPD Detective Jonah Wright’s world is about to change forever. A mysterious murder case that he has been investigating threatens to rip apart his reality, plunging him into the shadowy world of the supernatural. It appears that Bishop is fated to unlock a conspiracy that could tear apart the very fabric of society!

EPOCH #1, a 32-page full color science fiction fantasy comic book for $3.99, will be available at a comic store near you on August 3, 2011.

IMMORTALITY IS A CURSE

The Story of a Man’s Failure in Life and Death Debuts This Month With Last Mortal
BERKELEY, CA – 4 May 2011 – Fresh from the recent success of Joshua Hale Fialkov and and Rahsan Ekedal’s critically acclaimed ECHOES, Minotaur Press has once again paired up with Top Cow Productions and Image Comics to bring readers a gritty new four issue miniseries. LAST MORTAL, a noir revenge story with a supernatural twist by writer and Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik (THE DARKNESS II: CONFESSION, PILOT SEASON: ASSET) and writer John Mahoney with artist Thomas Nachlik (PILOT SEASON: FOREVER), will be in stores soon.
LAST MORTAL tells the tale of Alec King, a born loser who could never succeed at anything. When Alec’s best friend and partner in crime’s latest get rich quick scheme leaves their operation forever altered, he is left at rock bottom. Will he find a way to break his pattern of continued failure and reach a better day?
Top Cow Publisher and writer Filip Sablik said, “I’m incredibly excited and proud to see this series released as a creator. Alec’s story is one that my co-creator John and I have been working on for roughly fifteen years. The combination of a grounded street level revenge story and the more supernatural, personal journey Alec undergoes has a unique, wide appeal held together brilliantly by Thomas Nachlik’s striking, bold art.”
“Last Mortal is a book that is near and dear to Filip and my hearts and is a story we have been writing in one form or another for most of our lives,” added Mahoney. “The street level pulp setting for this four issue miniseries asks the question: What can a man accomplish with a second chance when that opportunity is forced upon him against his will?”
Nachlik spoke of his collaboration with the two co-creators on LAST MORTAL: “Filip Sablik and John Mahoney – a dream team of writers – after working on this script for so many years had a clear vision of their concepts but were open to new ideas at the same time. That’s the perfect combination for every sequential artist working on such a complex and unique story concept.”
Readers who want to meet the creators while picking up the first issue of LAST MORTAL should make sure to visit Collector’s Paradise in Canoga Park, CA on Saturday, May 21st. The store will be hosting a LAST MORTAL book release party from 7 PM to 10 PM. There will be a signing with co-creators John Mahoney and Filip Sablik, an art show of Thomas Nachlik’s original work from the first issue, a live DJ and free drinks. And to top it off, Sablik will be getting a tattoo live at the event of the ouroboros symbol that is seen on the covers! For more information about the event, visit http://comicsandcards.net.
A video trailer of the new series can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCNfDf1bgLk. Trailer sound design, score, and voiceover are by Joshua Boden.
LAST MORTAL #1 (MAR110522), a 32-page black and white supernatural noir comic book priced at $3.99 will be available on May 18. ECHOES HC, collecting the entire 5 issue series as well as a ton of extras including sketches, script pages, process pieces and more, will be available in stores on June 22nd for $19.99.
