A DC character that’s made only a handful of appearances since (8 to be exact, yeah, yeah more than a handful + 3 digits) 2016/2017 will reappear outside of the Deathstroke universe for the first time. This character is named Red Lion. (insert sarcasm here) boy does this dude look familiar. Can’t seem to place it. Maybe the number one movie (Marvel) at the box office right now? Nah, that’s not it. Anyway, The Red Lion is a main adversary of Deathstroke’s and will appear inJustice League #41this Wednesday. Red Lion first appeared inDeathstroke Rebirth #1(2016). Learn some secrets behind the new Damage character inDamage #3as Wonder Woman rings in Damage with her lasso. Supposedly some deep secrets here. Maybe having to do with other characters within the DC Universe? Maybe not, who knows? Either way, definitely looking forward to this. DC delivers the origin of King Rath inAquaman #34. Writer Dan Abnett and artist Mirko Colak. There will be an obvious trending comic this Wednesday. That comic will beWeapon H #1. If you need this article to tell you this, well….you’re probably really new at this. So if you’re new, Weapon H is one of these new breakout characters from the Marvel Universe. Weapon H is a mash-up of the Hulk and Wolverine. Weapon H first appeared inTotally Awesome Hulk #22FIVE months ago (in which we gave fans a heads up on). This first appearance last sold on Ebay for $60 for a raw copy. A raw has sold for upwards of $80 on Ebay. A graded CGC 9.8 sold for a whopping $172. Are we living in the Twilight Zone? So getting back toWeapon H #1. This is the first solo title, second prints will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Cable character is a hot item these days. Marvel will strike while the iron is hot. Cable #155 begins a look at Cable’s past and a possible introduction of a new character to boot. The new creative team of writer Zac Thompson and artist German Peralta bring a new look into this characters past and a start of an important storyline of this character. The “House of Ideas” sometimes really beat an idea to the ground don’t they? Case in point, the Cosmic Ghost Rider seems to be trending (for now), so what does Marvel do? Well, they make everyone a Ghost Rider! Now the not so informed speculators and other places are pushing the idea that this is a fantastic idea (monetarily) and it will be worth millions one day. The main question one should ask themselves before plucking down $40 or $50 or $80 for a first appearance of Cosmic Ghost Rider or a Weapon H or a Red Goblin is, where will this character be in 5 years? A third-rate character? The modern day Venom attraction? A trending sustainable character that a non-comic fan would know its name? At the end of the day, it’s YOUR money, I’m just here offering things to think about, an opinion. Fun story idea though for what Marvel is doing concerning Ghost Rider at the moment. Although a neat idea, Cosmic GR and a team of Ghost Rider heroes, the idea could fade as does the Ghost Rider lure all the time. A quick punch in the gut, everyone goes nuts and then the dust settles, and no one cares. It’s the Ghost Rider way. It’s the trend. Happens all the time. This week Doctor Strange Damnation #3 showcases Thor, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Black Panther among others as Ghost Rider based characters. Basically, a flaming skull head on top of their regular bodies. Flame on! Wait, wait wrong dude…. Jane Foster will meet her maker this Wednesday in Mighty Thor #705. Marvel is killing Thor. Killing the Jane Foster as Thor Idea. No reason to cry really. She could make an appearance in another relaunch/revamp of the Marvel Universe or if sales slump a bit in the new (resurrected/continued numbered) Thor series. Either way though, for now, THIS Thor is about to bite the dust. Remember how InvestComics kept telling readers to chillnax on the buying of this Thor at a premium price? Well, you could’ve put that money somewhere else. Iron Man Hong Kong Heroes #1 features the introduction of a new ironed suited hero. It also features a new Iron Man suit. Writer Howard Wong and artist Justice Wong. Look for a possible introduction or two in Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #17. Incredible Hulk #714, World War Hulk II with Amadeus Cho. Really? Okay. Many comic shops are still limiting customers to ONE copy of the weekly Avengers storyline “No Surrender”. This week’s Avengers #685 is the continuation of the return of the Immortal Hulk, but if you’re looking for a quick buck or think this comic will be anything worthy of a speculation choice, you’d be hard pressed to prove its worth a year from now, or maybe a month from now.

Totally Awesome Hulk #22 – Three weeks ago we gave fans a heads up on this comic. On our Facebook page and within theInvestComics Hot Picks#485article. Now this comic commands 3 times it’s value before its release on Wednesday. You could have been on this comic at cover price three weeks ago, but maybe we should act like all of these sites that have completely emulated us and scream about how you can send your children to college if you buy 500 copies of this comic. We’ll pass on that behavior and leave that to the amateurs. How is that rare Scooby Doo Harley Quinn book doing? Anyway, the first ‘full’ appearance of Weapon H right here. Dark Nights: Metal #1 – Duke gets a superhero name and a new costume. We’re not going to scream about this either. With creator names like Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo and Danny Miki, do we really need any other reason to not check this comic out? The answer is no. We check it out because we have talent on this book. Superman #29 – The first Yellow Lantern Superman within DC continuity. Sheena #0 – If you’re looking to make some quick cash, follow these steps. Step 1, buy this limited J.Scott Campbell variant. Two, track down J.Scott Campbell at a comic convention. Three, get him to sign this comic (pay J.Scott Campbell). Four, send this to your favorite grading company and score a 9.8 or higher (must score a 9.8 or higher). Be sure to get 2 day on it, do not do snail grading (unless you like losing money or making very little to breaking even). Five, when you receive your 9.8 or higher, sell it. Six (optional), send a percent of your earnings (‘a thank you’) to either paypal.me/InvestComicsLLC or the InvestComics LLC PO Box. You’re welcome. Divinity #0 – Another Valiant Entertainment kick as* book. A jumping on point. Should have leaped a while ago, but Valiant is allowing for jumpers now……so jump.

Buy/Bid – Dark Nights Metal #1
Buy/Bid – Injustice #11
Buy/Bid – Superman #29
Buy/Bid – Awesome Hulk #22
A possible big introduction within the continuity of Superman and the DC Universe this week in Superman #29. Yellow Lantern Superman may debut. The Ryan Sook cover shows Superman in full Yellow Lantern garb. Could it be? Obvious, yes, but who knows really. Let’s all check this comic out and see if this really is what we think it is. Yellow Lantern Superman did first appear in Injustice Gods Among Us: Year Two #11 in 2014. This story was outside of the realm of continuity and Superman #29 will be inside the DCU, so you make the call as to which you feel is the true first appearance. Another ‘devastating, push to their limits, never seen, etc…’ event from DC Comics this Wednesday. This time is under the name Dark Nights: Metal #1. We’re almost certain this comic (and series) will be a great read (Scott Snyder) with amazing art (Greg Capullo/Danny Miki), but can we ease up on the throttle a bit with the hype ‘THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING’ rhetoric? Let readers decide. We’re smart. Well, some of us are, but still. A new Duke costume and superhero name does not account for all of the hype. Relax. Dial it back a little.
Buy/Bid – All-New Wolverine #1
Buy/Bid – Generations #1
Buy/Bid – Secret Warriors #4
Buy/Bid – Wolverine XMen #19
Comic fans have waited patiently for the new Hulk with Wolverine claws to debut. The wait is over this week. Totally Awesome Hulk #22 introduces Batch H/Weapon H in his first FULL appearance. InvestComics gave fans a heads up on this comic a few weeks ago and even provided an Ebay link to buy this comic early. Well now….sold out across the board and Ebay has this comic at $20 or more already. Writer Greg Pak and artist Robert Gill bring fans a new Hulk character that could be around for years to come if there is a positive response and from the looks of it….Weapon H may have arrived. While a new Hulk character is introduced this week, an older one could be meeting his fate in U.S. Avengers #9. Will Marvel off the Red Hulk to make room for the Hulk with claws? Marvel continues their ‘Generations’ books this week. In some cases, pitting the ‘old’ verses the ‘new’. Although it seems we are getting more of a team-up comic this week; Generations: Wolverine & All New Wolverine #1. Creators, writer Tom Taylor and artist Ramon Rosanas. Contrary to the promotions (a bit) from Marvel, this is not the first, real official meeting between these two. They met way back in 2016 (insert sarcasm); All-New Wolverine #1. One of the strangest characters to arrive in a long time gets a ‘focal’ book this week. Generation X #5 ‘focuses’ on the character Eye-Boy. In case you really dig this character and you’re in the market for the first appearance, find Wolverine & The X-Men #19 (2012). Manifold will join the Black Panther team in Black Panther & The Crew #5. Manifold first appeared in Secret Warriors #4(2009).

Scott Campbell will be available with the release. Genius Cartel #1 (Image Comics); Writers Marc Bernardin/Adam Freeman and artist Rosi Kampe. For each issue that arrives within the Edge of Venonverse, we will keep a constant reminder of how one of these issue could be a potential major breakout for a new mash-up character. This week’s Edge of Venomverse #3 is no exception. The introduction of Host Rider. That’s Ghost Rider and Venom mashed-up for those not in the know. Although this really isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Venom host take over Johnny Blaze. Back in 2012, the story-line ‘Circle of Four’ in Venom #13.4 saw the host take over and combine the Red Hulk with Ghost Rider. Red Hulk Rider? Ghost Hulk? Yes, this really happened. Bottom line, get each issue of the Edge of Venomverse as they arrive. You never know when one of these mash-ups will explode in the aftermarket, if ever. More importantly though, you’re getting a sweet story and art by Tigh Walker. Batch X makes its move of several players in Weapon X #6. Weapon H (aka Hulk/Wolverine) will be arriving soon so says Marvel in Totally Awesome Hulk #22. This comic, with that ridiculous title still, will be flying off the shelf when it arrives. Get an early jump on Ebay right HERE (some available early). As always, from ALL available Ebay sellers. A super limited-edition comic from Coffin Comics; Lady Death: Zodiac #1. From the awesome artistry talent of Nei Ruffino and will be signed by Lady Death creator Brian Pulido. Written by Bob Varderman. Only 200 available. (Update:) We’re not even sure if this is a new release this week. We saw it on some new release sheet someplace, but it could be a re-release or an older book. Who cares though? Still a cool book. In case you haven’t noticed lately or maybe in the last few years actually, Valiant Entertainment are strictly bull market. Google ‘bull market’ if you do not get the reference, but yes Valiant is moving onward and upward. Searching for a comic with great art? Great storytelling? Yes, Valiant Entertainment should be a place to begin. Speaking of a place to begin, Faith And The Future Force #1 from writer Jody Houser and artists Stephen Segovia & Barry Kitson comes to stores on ncbd. It seems the Transformers bug has bitten Mark Wahlberg hard enough to make him produce a comic book for Vault Comics. We’re cool with that, Mark seems like a chill dude and makes entertaining movies.
