A DC character that’s made only a handful of appearances since (8 to be exact, yeah, yeah more than a handful + 3 digits) 2016/2017 will reappear outside of the Deathstroke universe for the first time. This character is named Red Lion. (insert sarcasm here) boy does this dude look familiar. Can’t seem to place it. Maybe the number one movie (Marvel) at the box office right now? Nah, that’s not it. Anyway, The Red Lion is a main adversary of Deathstroke’s and will appear in Justice League #41 this Wednesday. Red Lion first appeared in Deathstroke Rebirth #1 (2016).
Learn some secrets behind the new Damage character in Damage #3 as Wonder Woman rings in Damage with her lasso. Supposedly some deep secrets here. Maybe having to do with other characters within the DC Universe? Maybe not, who knows? Either way, definitely looking forward to this.
DC delivers the origin of King Rath in Aquaman #34. Writer Dan Abnett and artist Mirko Colak.
There will be an obvious trending comic this Wednesday. That comic will be Weapon H #1. If you need this article to tell you this, well….you’re probably really new at this. So if you’re new, Weapon H is one of these new breakout characters from the Marvel Universe. Weapon H is a mash-up of the Hulk and Wolverine. Weapon H first appeared in Totally Awesome Hulk #22 FIVE months ago (in which we gave fans a heads up on). This first appearance last sold on Ebay for $60 for a raw copy. A raw has sold for upwards of $80 on Ebay. A graded CGC 9.8 sold for a whopping $172. Are we living in the Twilight Zone? So getting back to Weapon H #1. This is the first solo title, second prints will be announced shortly thereafter.

Buy/Bid – Thor #715

The Cable character is a hot item these days. Marvel will strike while the iron is hot. Cable #155 begins a look at Cable’s past and a possible introduction of a new character to boot. The new creative team of writer Zac Thompson and artist German Peralta bring a new look into this characters past and a start of an important storyline of this character.
The “House of Ideas” sometimes really beat an idea to the ground don’t they? Case in point, the Cosmic Ghost Rider seems to be trending (for now), so what does Marvel do? Well, they make everyone a Ghost Rider! Now the not so informed speculators and other places are pushing the idea that this is a fantastic idea (monetarily) and it will be worth millions one day. The main question one should ask themselves before plucking down $40 or $50 or $80 for a first appearance of Cosmic Ghost Rider or a Weapon H or a Red Goblin is, where will this character be in 5 years? A third-rate character? The modern day Venom attraction? A trending sustainable character that a non-comic fan would know its name? At the end of the day, it’s YOUR money, I’m just here offering things to think about, an opinion. Fun story idea though for what Marvel is doing concerning Ghost Rider at the moment. Although a neat idea, Cosmic GR and a team of Ghost Rider heroes, the idea could fade as does the Ghost Rider lure all the time. A quick punch in the gut, everyone goes nuts and then the dust settles, and no one cares. It’s the Ghost Rider way. It’s the trend. Happens all the time. This week Doctor Strange Damnation #3 showcases Thor, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Black Panther among others as Ghost Rider based characters. Basically, a flaming skull head on top of their regular bodies. Flame on! Wait, wait wrong dude….
Jane Foster will meet her maker this Wednesday in Mighty Thor #705. Marvel is killing Thor. Killing the Jane Foster as Thor Idea. No reason to cry really. She could make an appearance in another relaunch/revamp of the Marvel Universe or if sales slump a bit in the new (resurrected/continued numbered) Thor series. Either way though, for now, THIS Thor is about to bite the dust. Remember how InvestComics kept telling readers to chillnax on the buying of this Thor at a premium price? Well, you could’ve put that money somewhere else.
Iron Man Hong Kong Heroes #1 features the introduction of a new ironed suited hero. It also features a new Iron Man suit. Writer Howard Wong and artist Justice Wong.
Look for a possible introduction or two in Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #17.
Incredible Hulk #714, World War Hulk II with Amadeus Cho. Really? Okay.
Many comic shops are still limiting customers to ONE copy of the weekly Avengers storyline “No Surrender”. This week’s Avengers #685 is the continuation of the return of the Immortal Hulk, but if you’re looking for a quick buck or think this comic will be anything worthy of a speculation choice, you’d be hard pressed to prove its worth a year from now, or maybe a month from now.

Howard The Duck #2 – Howard breaks onto the Hot Picks for the second consecutive month. Well maybe not “Howard” so much, but Gwenpool. She makes another variant cover appearance on consecutive Howard books. This cover will be as hot as the first. Good luck finding it at a reasonable price.

Invincible Iron Man #4 – We love the Mary Jane appearance in this book and both the variant and regular cover.

Replica #1 – A new comic company makes their debut; After Shock Comics. Top tier talents on new releases will make comic fans turn their heads and take notice. Made us look!

X’ed #1 – Anytime Black Mask puts out a new number one comic, fans snatch it up. For good reason, Black Mask is making it happen.

Harley’s Little Black Book #1 – Harley Quinn has a new bi-monthly team-up comic debuting this Wednesday. She’ll team up with Wonder Woman on this first go-around. The usual awesome talent cast of Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner bring us the first issue.

Daredevil #1 – Yes, we’re bending the rules a bit this week. There are six books here instead of five. Oh well, too bad we can break the rules. This Daredevil comic is our Marvel number one issue pick of the week. Written by Charles Soule and art from Ron Garney. The Joe Quesada variant is stellar.

Howard The Duck 2

Hot Pick of the week – Howard The Duck #2 – Gwenpool Variant – Click To Buy/Bid now.

Green Lantern #47 will feature the villain Sonar. The very first appearance of Sonar came way back in 1962’s Green Lantern #14. Gil Kane pencils. A couple of very odd things with the variant here. First off, it has Harley Quinn on the cover. Is she even in this comic? Is DC that desperate to sell Green Lantern comics? Second odd thing here. The Lantern variant cover is the same exact variant cover as the new Harley Quinn comic this week; Harley’s Little Black Book #1. Several comic book outlets (retailers) show that this comic variant is the same exact one as the Green Lantern variant, but with the different header (title). What’s up with this? The new bi-monthy Harley comic will be a new team-up book. The first issue will have Harley team up with Wonder Woman. Brought to you by the Harley dynamic duo Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner. A great book here.

Robin War #1 will be an interesting read. Red Hood, Red Robin, Robins, Batman, Grayson, and the Court of Owls all in one comic? Yes this will be fun.

A new DC/Vertigo title to check out; Sheriff of Babylon #1.

Out of all the new number one Marvel comics coming this Wednesday, there is one with the most potential to hit the right cord with fans and that comic is Daredevil #1. Written by Charles Soule and art from Ron Garney, the new Daredevil series will see some nice gains. The Joe Quesada variant is awesome. The other number one issues from Marvel are All-New Inhumans #1, All-New X-Men #1, and Guardians Of Infinity #1.

The hottest book this week will probably be Howard The Duck #2. Yes Howard cracked the InvestComics Hot Picks a few weeks ago for the same exact reason it will this week, the culprit is…..Gwenpool. She appears in issue two and the incentive Tom Fowler variant cover is sold out. Good luck getting your paws on that one right away at a decent price.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

Check out the new Invincible Iron Man #4 comic. It may have a new villain appearance, but there’s also that appearance from Mary Jane and her gracing both the regular and variant covers. It’s a nice change of pace actually to see Mary Jane out of the Spidey element in a different comic altogether (on the covers no less too). Both Iron Man covers are awesome and need your attention.

Red Wolf’s first appearance was in Avengers #80 (1970) and Red Wolf #1 comes out this week.

So a new Ultimate Spider-Man comic will debut this week. It’s called Spidey #1. Same premise as the Ultimate title, focusing on a younger Peter and his early years as Spider-Man.

The Marvel Star Wars Vader Down crossover event continues in Star Wars #13.

The silliest comic book title of the year has to go to Marvel’s Totally Awesome Hulk #1. Marvel’s feeble attempt at being “hip” is about 16 years too late. When was the last time you heard anyone utter the words “Totally awesome” within the context of describing a person. “Totally Awesome mom”? “Totally Awesome Greg”? “Totally Awesome boss”? See what we’re getting at here? The title falls flat on its face. Thank goodness there are a couple of super talents on this comic to give it worth a look. Greg Pak (Planet Hulk, Skaar, World War Hulk, etc) will write and the totally awesome Frank Cho will be on art duties. See what we did there? Anyways, the series may do okay (don’t foresee a long run here), but expect a title change eventually because that’s just plan silly. “Hello? Yes yes okay, hey Marvel, the 90’s are calling and want their title back”.

451 Media Group seems to sell out of a book every week. A few weeks ago we gave you a heads up on Sunflower #1 and that sold out. Now it looks like Sunflower #2 will follow that lead.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

If you’re thinking about jumping on board the Valiant Entertainment universe, you should do it this Wednesday. A must check out book; X-O Manowar Presents Commander Trill #0. If you want or yearn for continuity and or good story lines, then you must get on the Valiant Entertainment bus. They are the real deal.

The Inhumans movie will be arriving in 2019. By then, Infinity War part II will have hit the screen. A question one may ask here is, will the Inhumans pick up where the Avengers movies cease? Short answer, probably yes. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man (additions Wasp, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Vision) will fill in the new Avengers team roster after the current team is dismantled in Infinity War I & II. The Avengers can and will continue with an all new lineup one day, but until then, the Inhumans will probably take the mantle for a while. It makes total sense here. Some of the Avenger stars have become way too big for their roles, commanding more money and are also getting “older” as the series progresses. Remember when the phase just started? Chris Evans? Chris Hemsworth? Scarlett Johansson? Robert Downey Jr.? And the list goes on. No one really knew if any of this would work. It did. Now that “it did” and the success has and will run its course, ending with Infinity War II (2019), the only logical monetary thing to do is…..start over. Enter the Inhumans.

Since we all know that Marvel does not own the rights to the X-Men, this will be their workaround. Their version of the X-Men and come hell or high water, Marvel will make this work. Just to drive home a point that they don’t need the X-Men, they have the Inhumans.

It’s all going to start the same way it all began back in 2008 with Robert Downey Jr. Get that name everyone recognizes and get it to work. So with the Inhumans, the character that needs to be front/center and to work is Black Bolt. He’s the leader of the Inhumans. The King of Attilan. Who will be chosen to lead the way to another successful 11 year (more or less) run? Black Bolt will be the next “Tony Stark” because of the lead in to introduce the next phase. The character (the team) will play an intricate role in setting the table for everyone to follow.

The Avengers Infinity War parts I & II will probably (most likely) end many of the Marvel on screen careers. Our favorite characters will be gone. Marvel will set a new precedence in offing characters at a ridiculous clip. The reality is, Robert, Chris, Scarlett, Jeremy and all the others who have been around these movies for years are going to move on eventually to other roles other than superheroes. What better way to add finality to an unprecedented run than sending our heroes to sacrifice themselves against the greatest threat the planet and universe has ever seen, Thanos. Do not kid yourselves, there will be many deaths in the Infinity War parts I & II. In actuality, there has to be. The stadium is over capacity. There has to be closure so that the new blood can come in. That new blood being the Inhumans.

So in 2019, it’s all going to come to a head. 11 years to arrive to the greatest battle of all time. The greatest battle in cinema since dad and son went at it with their Lightsabers. It’s going to take every character fans have seen throughout the years and mash them into two movies. The Avengers cannot and will not defeat Thanos alone. Not happening. The Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Winter Solider, Loki, Spider-Man, Warlock and so many more will probably appear in both films. Most will not make it to the next phase.

The comic book speculator has four years to compile their Inhumans comics library. What InvestComics has given the speculative community throughout our ten years is the ability to buy low and….sell high. This checklist is just that. Some of these books are movers right now, but their value in four years time will be immensely different. Tremendous upside here. Yes the first appearance of the Inhumans might be a bit pricey now, but it will not be anywhere near as close to the price it is now when 2019 rolls around. Think big. Think X-Men #1 (1963) or Giant Size X-Men #1 (1975). Marvel Studios’ version of the X-Men will become the next big franchise, do not miss this boat. Inhumans will be huge.

Most of these books if not all of them are extremely affordable…..for now. As time beckons, as news breaks, as announcements are made, as villains are cast, as the Infinity War movie starts coming into light, the Inhumans will become more and more of a household name and you will be very late to the party if you put things on hold until then. Be sure to thank InvestComics for throwing this early party now when the time comes.

As always, there will be missed books within the checklist below. We’re Inhuman, Ha! See what we did there?! There are many books listed. All kinds of first appearances, key issues and cool books in general. We simply do not know what the Inhumans movie will bring, so we tried to cover as many bases as possible for the speculator. If you have a comic you’d like to add, please help the fellow speculators in listing it below in the comment section. AND PLEASE READ THE DISCLAIMER on this site.

Thor #148 (1968) The first of three consecutive, most desirable comics to own (besides the first appearance) if one is collecting key Black Bolt books. The origin of Black Bolt starts here (in a backup story). Still very affordable right now, but this will in fact change. This is also the first appearance of the Wrecker. An absolute non-factor because this comic will triple in value in a few years because of the Black Bolt origin, not because of the Wrecker. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.

Thor #149 (1968) The continuation of Black Bolt’s origin. Must own.

Thor #150 (1968) The Inhumans origin. Must own.

Marvel Super-Heroes #15 (1968) First solo Medusa story. Black Bolt appearance.

Will the Inhumans join in the fight along side the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy? Maybe. Maybe not, but this comic here is the first Avengers book the Inhumans appear in. We’re about to approach a heavy topic here, but it’s reality and it’s part of this characters make up so we need to discuss it.

As racism is so prevalent these days, Stan Lee and the mighty Marvel crew back in the 1960’s were tackling the issue head on through funny books. They obviously did not stand for the hate mongering that existed so front and center back then. They took a stand. Not to say they don’t today, but back then taking a stand on racism was more of an outside the box thing to do and a noble one at that. As it is noble today too.

Nowhere is the topic of racism more predominant than with the character Black Panther. The first African born superhero character debuted in 1966 and Marvel Comics made sure the readers knew that racism was going to be a huge part of the character development. The Marvel crew took the same path during war times with Hitler and the Nazi’s. Showing how the hatred will always lose because of the ignorance, the non-education, the intolerance, and the emotional disconnect toward humanity.

Yes the Black Panther character is, if not one of the most important comic characters to ever be created. He wasn’t an alien from another planet with super human strength, he doesn’t have mutant powers, no he was not accepted because of the altering difference of powers he possessed over a human being or the knowledge of him being an alien, he wasn’t accepted because the color of his skin. Sounds ridiculous to even write that.

Although we’ve all come so far, there is still more work to do. Racist are not born, they are taught. It’s an infectious disease that spreads because of the rhetoric gospel taught by ignorance. Wake up it’s 2015.

Below is a checklist of some key appearances by the Black Panther. As always, there will be books that are not listed. Please help the collectors by writing your entry below in the comment section if you want to contribute.
