HOT PICKS

Captain America (2012 7th Series) #1 kicks off with some heavyweight creative names attached. Names like Romita, Janson, Remender and White. With creators like this on board, we’re probably in for a fun ride! Captain America first appeared in his self titled book called Captain America Comics #1 in 1941. With Jack Kirby and Joe Simon at the helm, this comic can easily fetch over a quarter of a million dollars. Here’s a funny thing fans, this comic is undervalued right now. Come back in 10 years and this comic will be worth 3 to four times its value now. Captain America is the modern day Superman for Marvel right now.  Indestructible Hulk (2012) #1 comes out with its own heavyweight supporting cast as well. Waid and Yu are your team here. The Incredible Hulk #1 (1962) was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. A nicely graded copy of this comic can get an easy $50,000 and up. The value for the Hulkster (no, not Terry) is right where it should be.

Staying on the number one issue theme here we arrive to Judge Dredd (2012 IDW) #1. The IDW company has been putting out quality comics for some time now. The character Judge Dredd is the equivalent of Marvel’s Spidey or DC’s Batman. No not here in the states, but from the U.K.

The Dredd character is the baddest ass hero/vigilante to ever come from the U.K…..ever. Now IDW will give the fans a new ongoing that will probably blow the doors off and the collector should be on the ground floor before Judge Dredd becomes as popular as he was back in the 80’s/90’s. Dredd’s first appearance comes in 2000AD #2 from 1977. An ungraded 9.4 copy in April of this newspaper comic sold for $1000. Extremely undervalued here for the premiere badass of the U.K.

Marvel NOW! paying some immediate dividends with the new restart. Iron Man (2012 5th Series) #2 introduces some new bad guys. First a group called the CIRCLE, which is made up of Mech-Knights and a villain name Black Exoskeleton. Fun times ahead! We hope…..

Journey into Mystery (2011 3rd Series) #646 puts the focus on The Lady Sif. Incidentally, Sif first appeared in Journey into Mystery, but from 1964 in issue #102. This comic will command about $500. It’s a little steep for a character like Sif, but still worth it because of Kirby and Lee’s name on it.

With beginning’s there is an end. This week Avengers (2010 4th Series) #34 will end its 4th series run in grand fashion, so don’t miss it!

Some independent books to check out this week are Electric Youth Special (2012 Big Dog Ink) #0, Adventures of Augusta Wind (2012 IDW) #1, Clone (2012 Image) #1 and Comeback (2012 Image) #1.

That’s it for this week. Invest wisely.
