Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: All-Star Comics #58 (1976) graded 8.0. Here is a beauty that was just graded a few months ago and is up for a buy it now price of only $94.99. For those of you who don’t know, this comic is special because it holds the first appearance of Power Girl. Power Girl is a very relevant player within the DC Universe, so this is a nice grade at a nice price. If you’re in the market for a nice Bronze Age first appearance, this is it.

Before reading ahead, we feel we need to warn you that our articles contain very harsh truths in them. Not vulgar language, just a good solid dose of honesty. They always have, they always will. If you are easily offended, cannot come to terms that other people have opinions too beside yourself and especially if you’re a fanboy, discontinue reading. Go back to the other places selling you the farm. This is NOT the place for you. We’re here to have fun and not lie to you. Thank you and enjoy!

Almost every week there is one book that stands alone as a book to truly speculate on. We say “almost” because sometimes there are weeks that go by without that one book. This week we have that ONE book. Amazing Spider-Man #15 gets the honors as the InvestComics Hot Pick of the week. Marvel has seen success beyond their dreams sticking Gwen in a Deadpool like costume. Now it’s time to get Mary Jane into one. This costume however is one we’re all very familiar with. How about the Iron Spider Armor? Yes the same armor Stark made for Peter back in Civil War #3 (2006). It’s been 10 years since fans absolutely drooled over the late Michael Turner variant cover of Spider-Man donning his new threads. Peter did however first wear the Iron Spider Armor in Amazing Spider-Man #529 (2006). It’s that Civil War issue that still gets lots of attention till this day. This time around, Alex Ross takes care of the beautiful Amazing Spider-Man #15 cover with Mary Jane donning the new(old) threads. The J. Scott Campbell variant is sold out and it’s a beauty too! Do yourself a solid and buy the new Amazing Spider-Man issue this Wednesday.

The new Silver Surfer #5 promises something big and that cover probably has someone in there you know.
The realism in Esad Ribic’s work is astounding. Check out the Civil War II Kingpin #1 variant cover.

DC Comics;
Justice League Rebirth #1. Bryan Hitch – writer/artist. New beginnings for our favorite DC team.
DC Rebirth has really hit its stride. Despite all of the fanboys whining, they’re buying these new comics up. So much so that second and third printings are the norm for the publisher. We informed readers that the new Batman would be one to watch because of the intro of two new characters, although already first appearing in DC Universe: Rebirth #1. It sold out very quick and now Batman #2 hits this Wednesday. DC knows that readers are very interested in the new players, so they put them on the cover for the second issue in a row, displaying them as Batman ‘God’ like. The new characters ‘Gotham’ and ‘Gotham Girl’ will probably spin into their own series in the not too distant future, so we suggest you get on these early issues of their first arc/appearances.

Very much like the fanboy reaction to Rebirth, those same knuckleheads are complaining about DC’s revamping of the Hanna-Barbera line. Making it more realistic,grown-up, humanizing….today. We already covered the ridiculous notion that everything is so sacred within the comic book industry when Future Quest and Scobby-Doo came out. We’ll do it once again in case some may have forgotten. Feel free to pass this advice to a fanboy you may know. Nothing is sacred anymore. Money is more important in today’s society, therefore nothing is off limits. We know it’s pretty harsh to hear that, but it’s the truth. The sooner you except this, the sooner the whining and complaining will subside. Your cries are falling on deaf ears, DC or any comic company making tons of dough does not care what you feel about Fred Flintstone and what that cartoon meant to you as a child. They do however care about that yacht payment. If you’re one of these banana’s screaming about the sacred books of The Flintstones, remember you have comics dating all the way back to 1961 you can choose from to read(?). Are you really reading Flintstones comics as an adult though? Probably not, so how does this affect you again? Oh, yes yes you throw the “I have kids! How dare they do this! How are my kids supposed to know of the REAL Flintsones?!”card. Again, you there are Flintstones comics available from every decade since 1961. Relax, they’ll know if you try hard enough. If you want Captain America or Superman back in their red underwear costumes, go make your own movie. Harsh reality is that times have changed and if you do not change with them, you’re the heel. Money drives in 2016, not nostalgia. Nostalgia doesn’t play the mortgage, light bill, car payment, etc. The ‘bottom line’ is what drives business. So with that mindset, trying new things or tweaking old things is the new way, enter Flintstones #1. All of the new Hanna-Barbera titles will feature creative superstars. This new series will have Mark Russell on writing duties and Steve Pugh on pencils. So as a comic fan we are all in here! As a speculative fan, well that’s a bit different. Who’s to say the new Flintstones comic doesn’t revitalize the franchise and drive the market up? Not likely, but could happen. There isn’t much of a market for back issue Flintstones comics nor was there a demand for it, so thinking that one of the seven or so variants will retain or gain monetary value is more likely to not happen than to happen. Which by the way, the Ivan Reid selfie variant cover is fantastic. We look forward to reading this comic and so should you!

Here are some fantastic indie comics headed your way!
Story line alert! A possible MAJOR twist coming in Walking Dead #156.
With much success comes many copycats. InvestComics knows this all too well regarding our site, but we’re talking about the recent influx of the female comic character and its success rate. Marvel continues to produce a new female character at an alarming rate. Their success, most of the time sets the precedence for the rest of the industry. Dark Horse jumps into the game with Bounty #1. Written by Kurtis Wiebe and drawn by Mindy Lee.
Remember when the Lone Ranger was a hot book a few years back? Man we wonder what happened to all of those who went full tilt and bought those variants at premium prices. Anyway, readers should be happy to know that The Lone Ranger will be coming back this week…….with company. Not Tonto, Lone Ranger Green Hornet #1.
