The Cosmic Ghost Rider character is still ‘riding high’ with the Marvel and comic book fanbase. No signs of him throttling down anytime soon. So, what will Marvel present to its faithful CGR fans after the successful debut last month? How about….Space Sharks! Yes, that’ll grab the attention of fans. Cosmic Ghost Rider #2 with an appearance of Space Sharks! Check out that crazy Geoff Shaw shark cover too. That’ll get some airplay around social media for a little bit. And for the speculators wondering, this is not the first appearance of Space Sharks. They first appeared from legends Chris Claremont (writer) and Dave Cockrum (artist) in 1982’s Uncanny X-Men #162. Hey, they can’t all be home runs, right?
Ant-Man & The Wasp #4 follows our heroes within the Microverse and back to reality. The thing is every time they come back they come back with newer/different powers. This issue shows us some of the side affects of going back and forth from one parallel to the other. Maybe they’ll shoot rays out of their eyeballs now. Or maybe be more like Jeff Goldblum from the fly and they both start mutating/morphing into their respective insects somehow. That’s probably more of a What If? story, but hey never know!

Adv of Super Sons #1

Click on the RED links, Images/comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay

Well, Super Sons will start anew this week with a new number one issue. What’s wrong with just continuing within the continuity of the original series instead of starting with a number one issue you ask? Answer is simple, DC and Marvel and many, well all, of the indie companies have figured out that they are catering to the collector’s market more so these days then not. That’s why. Deny all you want old scholler’s or nostalgic mutants, there is no other way to explain the constant restarts. Oh, still not convinced? How about a bazillion (being obsessive here, obviously) variant covers that accompany the said number one issue? Yes, catering to an over-bought market, but that’s okay because companies need to make their money to pump out their content. Eventually the tide will turn once again once the modern market dries up a bit. ‘Modern speculators’ will eventually realize that the brand-new comic on the shelf on Wednesday that cost them $40 because of a ‘pretty’ cover will most likely amount to a cover price comic sooner rather then later will wise up. Once that happens, things will change back to somewhat normalcy without the pointless variant covers, which in turn may slow down the ‘number one’ being such a draw to the sell. But for now, we move along to Adventures Of The Super Sons #1 this Wednesday. It will be a fantastic book regardless of the aforementioned banter. That banter has nothing to do with the quality of the content in most books. Writer Peter J. Tomasi is back with artists Carlo Barberi and Art Thibert.

Interview Funko – Chris Sully

Chris Sully and our website go back a long while. Well, not Trending Pop Culture, but InvestComics. We first met up with Chris and Steve doing their thing on their NerdFu Podcast quite a few years back. Not withstanding or any bias here for the sake of this interview, but The NerdFu Podcast is one of the premiere podcast out there. If you’re seeking a good listen about anything and everything regarding the pop culture scene, the NerdFu Podcast would be right up your alley. Be sure to check out their podcast by clicking right HERE.
So as the years lumbered on, Chris Sully moved on to a new gig a few years ago himself, but he still holds down the podcast with Steve on a regular basis. So, besides being a co-podcaster extraordinaire, Mr. Sully is the Marketing Manager at Funko. Let’s chat with Chris for a bit.

Trending Pop Culture: Hi Chris! We last met up in person at New York Comic Con 2017. Have you been busy since then at all? (sarcasm).
Chris Sully: That was just this past October, but it feels like at least 84 years.

TPC: So, let’s jump right in shall we? From the beginning, how old were you when you discovered you were into the superhero stuff/pop culture stuff?
CS: My first memories of being a “nerd/geek” started with movies (like Clash of the Titans, Gremlins, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters), toys/collectibles (like Masters of the Universe, Transformers, GI Joe & Star Wars) & video games (Atari 2600, Contra, Super Mario Bros., Kung Fu, etc.). It didn’t seem out of the ordinary at the time, because my dad was into the same things and so were all of my friends.

TPC: So now that you’re a tad older, what gets you pumped now?
CS: Many of the same things still resonate, but at least I don’t have to ask Mom & Dad for money or put things on my Christmas wish list any more. I still LOVE movies, collectibles and video games, but with the popularity of comic cons, I actually have the chance to go and meet some of my heroes (actors, designers, creators) in person, which I NEVER thought would be possible.

TPC: What’s your take on the whole Thanos thing? You buying it? Is everyone dead in your opinion? Who comes back, who doesn’t? What happens next in Mr. Sully’s Infinity War film?
CS: Not everyone that vanished is dead, but I do believe that Marvel is daring enough to shake things up by killing off a few key characters and/or changing up who plays them. I am all for it. As much as I love Thor, Captain America and Iron Man, the Marvel universe has 100s of characters to choose from and I would love to see them all on the big screen at some point.

TPC: Okay, let’s move on to you meeting up with Steve and this wonderful thing comes of it, NerdFu Podcast. How does this come about and what were your expectations? If any.
CS: Steve and I knew each other for a few years, but never really hung out…. until we started talking about movies and nerd culture. He called me up on day and said “You wanna go to SDCC?” I honestly thought that was an industry event and never even dreamed about going. Luckily, we timed it right, before tickets became impossible to get. It was 2012 and we were off to San Diego for something we couldn’t possibly be prepared for. We were blown away by the experience and the people that we met and decided that we need to make this our job! Some of our line friends (people we met in our first long SDCC lines and still talk to today) joked that Steve and I were pretty funny and should start our own podcast. That stuck with us and a few months later (April, 2013) we launched the Nerd Fu podcast and our website.

TPC: What are some of the highlights from this podcast venture….so far.
CS: Most importantly, the podcast gave us the chance to hang out and talk nerd. We decided early on that even if that’s all that ever happened, we would be fine with it. Luckily it turned into much more. Over the last 5 years, we’ve been to dozens of cons all over the country, met many of our favorite celebrities, podcasted with some of our favorite podcasters and made a TON of new friends/contacts. We’re approaching our 225th episode of the podcast and hope to continue on for years to come.

TPC: Do you guys record live and edit or do listeners get the raw material?
CS: We have recorded live a few times, including our 100th episode, with a small crowd. That was a lot of fun and something we would love to do again one day. We’ve appeared at several cons as part of a podcasting panel and even started our own intro to podcasting panel we call #ReadySetPodcast, which we hope to do at future conventions. For our weekly podcasts, there is very rarely any editing. We basically hit record and then stop when we’ve gone through all of our topics/notes. This was mainly out of necessity (since we had NO editing skills in the beginning), but it has really honed our ability to lead a conversation, without dead air or weird pauses. We’ve definitely improved over the years and hope to continue to do so.

TPC: With your busy schedule at Funko, when can fans expect podcast episodes to come out?
CS: For Nerd Fu, Steve and I have worked really hard to keep our standard schedule of a new episode every week, typically on Thursday or Friday. There have been a few weeks without an episode, but not many.

TPC: You’re an obvious fan of the comic book fandom. What are you picking up these days? Besides what InvestComics recommended all of those years for you. Now Trending PopCulture is doing that for ya, right? Right??
CS: I am definitely a fan of comics, but (and this part may not sit well with others) I have never been able to get into the format. I’ve tried, but just can’t get hooked. I DO love the artwork throughout the comics and especially the covers. To me, they are works of art and I treat them as such. I have always found the investment side of collecting fascinating and found Trending Pop Culture (InvestComics) when developing the idea of making my own investment protfolio of comics. The Top 5 from TPC has been amazing, turning me on to tons of great investments over the years.

Hermey

TPC: We’re going to assume you’re a collector of all things pop culture, including Funko POP!, correct? When did your affection towards the POP! figures begin?
CS: I bought my first Funko Pop! sometime in 2011, for my wife. It was the Hermey Pop! from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I stumbled onto it at a Target and really liked the style. Then I started finding others, like Marvel & Disney. When we attended SDCC in 2012, we walked into the booth and got a feel for how big the business could be, and started collecting more and more.

TPC: So, did you ever envision yourself actually holding a position at Funko? How does this come about?
CS: I really never thought it would be possible, but that didn’t stop me from dreaming and hoping. I worked in social media at a Fortune 100 company for a few years and it clearly was not the right fit. During that time, we had started Nerd Fu and gotten to know the marketing team at Funko. When I saw that they were hiring for a new marketing position, I immediately reached out! Because of the work we had done at Nerd Fu, they knew what I was capable of and gave me a shot. We picked up and moved from Texas and haven’t looked back since. It was one of the best decisions of my life.

TPC: Seeing you at New York Comic Con every year is extremely breathtaking to witness. The production and the constant teamwork is mindboggling. You have one of the, if not the busiest booths every single year. In which this happens at many shows, not just NYCC! What challenges accompany being the head marketer of the most sought-after items within the pop culture genre?
CS: I am just one member of an amazing team. We are blessed to have an amazing fan base (known as the Funko Funatics) and volunteers that come out to the conventions to help us stock and sell all of the exclusives. These conventions take months to plan for and require very long days at the cons, but it is all worth it. Seeing the happy fans come thru and leave with the giant blue bags of exclusives, then the photos that they share of their collection online makes it all worth while. If we didn’t work hard to make that happen and respect the fans, we wouldn’t be in the position that we are in. I happily jumped into the machine that was already running and I do whatever I can to keep it running.

TPC: What’s the one thing you hear the most from fans regarding the Funko line?
CS: Everyone wants to know when we’ll make __________ (insert fandom here). We are all fans of something and we all have a few movies, TV shows, video games, etc that we would love to have figures for. I’ve been lucky enough to see Firefly, The Goonies, Ghostbusters, Monsters, Inc and a plethora of my fandoms turned into Pop!s and I know that is what our fans want for their fandoms.

TPC: It’s absolutely no secret that there is a very deep aftermarket for Funko POP!’s. Baseball has the Honus Wagner card, Comics has Action Comics #1, finish this; Funko has……
CS: That is really a question for each fan. There are a few of the all-time greats, like the 2012 SDCC Gold Loki, the flocked Sulley, the Chrome Batman, etc., but I don’t think there is the ONE that everyone is after. Part of the beauty of creating figures for so many unique licenses is that fans have a huge field of figures to pick from. For me, it’s still the Gold Loki and the original flocked Chewbacca Pop!

Sulley

TPC: In your opinion, what is it about the figures that makes them so popular year in and year out? And what separates them from so many others trying to emulate the Funko brand?
CS: First and foremost – it’s the art! The Funko artists are amazing. The style of the figures is what first brought people to Funko. The licensing is the other important part. Funko has offered thousands of licensed products, including licenses that other companies might not focus on. As I me mentioned before, everyone is a fan of something and they want to add a figure or figures from that fandom to their collection/desk. The price point is also attractive. Pop!s typically retail for around $9.99, which is not a big ask, especially compared to other companies that make statues or figures that can run hundreds of dollars.

TPC: What can we expect in the future from Funko? Any surprises or we just going to get continued awesomeness from Funko?
CS: It’ll be straight-up awesomeness from here on out. But seriously, the licensing team and artists are continuing to push the boundaries of what and how we bring everyone’s fandoms to vinyl (and other) forms. Pop!s will continue, along with other figures, like my new favorite VYNL and the new 5 Star line. Funko has plush, shirts, action figures, keychains, blind bag/box figures…. Funko acquired LoungeFly last year as well, which adds purses, wallets, backpacks, mini-backpacks and more. And be on the lookout for Cereal and Pez, all coming soon!

TPC: What about you Mr. Sully? Are we going to see you with a big fat cigar, white suit, running New York City trying to kill Spider-Man in the future? You shouldn’t kill Spidey, he’s a nice boy.
CS: Ha! I don’t have any plans to take over the city or go after any superheroes. I’m more than happy to continue with Nerd Fu and Funko, podcasting and interacting with other nerds and talking fandoms. I’ve been doing it my whole life and I’m just stoked that someone is willing to pay me to continue doing so.

TPC: Thank you for spending a little time with us Chris. We’ll listen to you (and Steve) on NerdFu and catch up with you at New York Comic Con 2018.
CSCan’t wait! I’m really looking forward to returning to New York and NYCC again this year. See you there Jay!!

Be sure to tune into Nerd Fu right HERE. Go to the Funko website right HERE. Next time you’re at a show, say hello to Chris!

Trending Comics & More #536…….
A new direction for Superman is making its turn as writer Brian Michael Bendis receives much praise for it. Action Comics #1001, with art from Patrick Gleason will most likely turn up some new fans. This Superman ‘relaunch’ has the potential to bring Clark and the regular cast of characters (and new) to another level as the New 52 Batman did for that character with Snyder/Capullo at the helm. Expect to see Superman trending around your social media feeds for the unforeseeable future. While speculators wait to pounce on that hot new character that will break out of this early Brian Michael Bendis run.
As mentioned here on Trending Pop Culture already, Superman and Spider-Man are battling it out for your attention as Marvel and DC have decided to make ‘major changes’ with the status quo of their respective flagship characters. The new Amazing Spider-Man series from writer Nick Spencer and artist Ryan Ottley is being met with positive vibes. This week’s Amazing Spider-Man #2 features a new villain and a new love interest. But isn’t that Mary Jane on the J. Scott Campbell cover? Hopefully Marvel isn’t taking their ‘relaunch’ of Spidey to a New 52 level. Introducing Mary Jane?! Huh? Probably not, hopefully not, but we’re confident that’s not the route we’re looking at. And the black suit is back?? Yes, that’s ultra-cool. So, make sure you get your hands on this book on Wednesday, because it will sell out.

The speculators went a bit bonkers regarding the X-Men Gold #30 comic a few weeks ago. Acting as though it to be the next comic to send your kid to Embry-Riddle college or something. The ridiculousness stemmed from the Kitty Pryde/Colossus wedding that never materialized, but instead Gambit and Rouge got hitched! That sounds like and WAS a FUN premise, but the speculators turned this into something that was bigger than it should have been. So what THEY got married instead of the original couple that were supposed to. Why is this a big deal to push this comic as though it’ll be ‘worth’ so much money ten years from now? Newsflash, it won’t be. It’s not Peter and Mary (again), it’s not Clark and Lois (again), it’s not even Logan and Jean. Point being, those are weddings that would and have reverberated for a duration of time, not one week on Ebay and come back to cover price a few weeks later. It trended, now it’s over. Are those speculators willing to buy those extra X-Men Gold #30’s off your hand? If the answer is no (which it is), you’ve been duped and succumb to the nonsense of a speculation market that is out of control these days. Marvel loves it though! So much so, they’ll deliver Mr. & Mrs X #1. The creative team of Kelly Thompson (writer) and Oscar Bazaldua (artist) bring the two lovebirds; Gambit and Rouge together for an all-new romantic/action comic. The newlyweds will disagree about the kids, bills, mortgage, what it eat, their in-laws……oh wait, It won’t be that type of comic. Remember though, 99.9% of the time, your wedding envelopes will never pay for your wedding, but the family and friends abound is priceless. Correlate this into a speculative thought process regarding this comic and you’ll enjoy the heck out of it.
The next big chapter within the Marvel Universe begins this week with Infinity Wars: Prime #1. Lots of changes and maybe we’ll get more info on that mysterious new character named Requiem. We still have no idea who he or she is.

Marvel will wrap things up in Infinity Countdown #5. The fun begins again with Marvel’s Infinity Wars thereafter. Never a dull moment within the Marvel Universe and the new Infinity Wars storyline will bring on a new player, possibly reincarnated character. The big ‘get’ in this series will be this. Who is this newbie? What role will they play? Once fans found out, they’ll go bananas and the speculators will feast among themselves. Gerry Duggan and Mike Deodato Jr. will head the new Infinity Wars project. These two creators will certainly bring it as they always do, so expect a solid series.
Speaking of a good/solid comic, Life of Captain Marvel #1 will be just that. Written by Margaret Stohl and art from Carlos Pacheco. This story will tell of the ‘Definitive Origin of Captain Marvel’. Maybe this is a precursor to the film in 2019? Maybe not, who cares really? This comic will undoubtable have fans clamoring for it, causing the trend to cycle through the social media realms as a comic to read. Although Carol Danvers is a Boston Red Sox fan (New York Yankees fan here), we’ll give her a pass regarding this portion of her origin, because one of the best persons we know Bob Heske (filmmaker/writer) is a Sox fan and he rocks. So, we here at Trending Pop Culture recommend this comic to all collectors….and Mr. Bob Heske.
One thing leads to another (Good song! Did I just show my age?) this week. Writers Lonnie Nadler and Zac Thompson along with artist German Peralta have been telling the story of Cable’s secret origin within the pages of his self-titled book. This week, in Cable #159, Cable’s ‘dark secret is revealed’ in ‘Past Fears: Part 5. What does this mean? Well, we’ll all have to read it and find out!
79 years; first appearance of Batman. 77 years; first appearance of Archie. 79+77= 156. That’s a whole lotta years there. Well, this Wednesday, Batman will team with Archie for the very first time in Archie Meets Batman 66 #1. This is incredible, isn’t it?
Another team-up occurring this coming Wednesday has no comparison ability in the least but is still fun nonetheless. Injustice vs The Masters Of The Universe #1. Writer Tim Seeley and artist Freddie Williams II.

Trending Pop Culture Indie Hot Picks; Indie comics do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after.
IDW Publishing starts up a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic this week. Writer Matthew Manning and Chad Thomas bring comic fans Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #0. For the record, zero issues are silly. Just don’t put a number on it at all. Anyway, this series is based on the new fall animated series arriving this fall. We think. Maybe it’s based on a new TMNT comic series this fall? Either way, it’s new TMNT stories, so we’re all in. Also from IDW, Euthanauts #1; Creators Tini Howard and Nick Robles.
Clankillers #1 from Aftershock Comics is sold out. Creators Sean Lewis and Antonio Fuso.
Twelve Devils Dancing #1 (Danger Zone) is sold out. Creators Erica Schultz and Dave Acosta.
Keenspot Entertainment has sold out across the board (variants and all) of its offering this Wednesday; Barry Steakfries #1. Based off the video game Jetpack Joyride. Creators Chris Crosby, Mike Rosenburg and Remy Eisu Mokhtar.
Dead Life #1 from Titan Comics is sold out; Jean-Charles Gaudin and Joan Urgell Mamba.
If you’re a fan or a by-product from the 1980’s, or if you’re a fan of the Godfather movies/mob movies, or you recall the days of old visiting the mall with your friends or you’re just a fan of some great comic book reading, you’ll have to pick up The Mall #1 from Scout Comics. Writers James Haick III and Don Handfield, along with artist Rafael Loureiro bring this 80’s vibe, intrigue, mob, money, crime filled John Hughes on steroids comic to life. Yes, it’ll probably sell out, and yes, it’ll probably be made into a film one day too.

Back when the seeds of the late great website InvestComics were being implanted inside the mind of Jay Katz, his father introduced a thick book with lots of information and very small text writing. Jay’s dad used to use a magnified glass thingy to literally look over the ‘bible of comics’ as he called it. This book was called ‘The Overstreet Price Guide’. Here we stand now on the 48th Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide release this Wednesday. Although some pricing is a bit skewed due to the rampant pace the speculators partake these days, it’s an incredible tool regardless. Especially on the Golden/Silver Age side…..where the big boys play. Sorry Cosmic Ghost Rider, step aside.

It’s no secret that the comic book industry has its ‘big two’ and that they’re not too fond of one another. Always trying to calculate, outdo the other. On new comic book day release this Wednesday, such a case is in play and for anyone that’s in the numbers game shall get a treat. Into the process of a nerd fight to ask who is better, Spider-Man or Superman? Then this Wednesday could be for you too. Marvel Comics goes with it’s fifth Amazing Spider-Man volume, as DC Comics goes with their sixth Superman volume. So, it’s essentially Amazing Spider-Man #1 vs. Superman #1 this Wednesday. Draw the line, pick a side, it’s on.
While both of these new releases will trend extremely well, let’s highlight the clash of these heavyweights in the image below…..

As you can see, both bring tremendous value to the reader and the collector alike. To us, there are no winners and losers here. Both of these comics will be another notch within their torrid history for each of them. Bringing on a new vision from top creators in the comic book industry. Fans will love these new titles and some, as always, will find something to groin about too. Begrudge a creator or a fan for no reason but to prove their own validity as to why the comic is not a good product. Word of advice, never get involved with that nonsense, move along if you’re not a fan. Move along. Not that hard to do really.
Out of the two comics, the Amazing Spider-Man #1 may trend a bit longer with aftermarket upticks due to the fact there will be an introduction of a new character (and the new creative team). A guaranteed intro according to the Marvel solicit. With the new release, Marvel will accompany a FREE Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Behind The Scenes Edition) at participating shops. This free comic might be the ‘get’ if the new character turns out to be a hot commodity. The special edition features full penciled pages from the regular comic, plus other goodies. It’s very possible a new character can pop up in here too as a precursor to a future first appearance. This will get the speculators in a ridiculous tizzy. Art from Ryan Ottley really helps things along here as well. Nick Spencer, a fantastic writer will hopefully be on the longevity schedule Dan Slott had with his run. That would be…..amazing.
Not too sure what the Superman #1 book will bring, but with Brian Michael Bendis at the helm, one never can tell what surprise(s) could be in store. Joe Prado and Ivan Reis are on art duties. This creative team on this Superman book is simply explosive. Do yourself a favor and check out both of these comics on Wednesday.

Suicide Squad #44

Farmhand #1

Little Girl #1

Midnight Task #1

Zinnober #2

Click on the RED links, Images or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay

First appearance alert; Old Man Logan #43 introduces Shadow Tracer.
The X-23 frenzy has subsided a bit since nothing new has come about regarding a solo X-23 movie or another team-up movie. Maybe when Marvel gets full rights to the mutants from Fox, that will change, but for now we have radio silence. The NYX #3 (first appearance of X-23) comic is still way overvalued. A RAW copy sold for a whopping $510 just the other day. Absurd. Yes, ‘rare’ and all that nonsense, still absurd, but it’s money to be made and comics to be had, so good for everyone! This Wednesday, X-23 debuts in her own title, X-23 #1 from creators Mariko Tamaki (writer) and Juan Cabal (artist).
Hey, anyone see that Suicide Squad #44 cover from Guillem March? Reminds you a bit of Venom doesn’t it? It’s a DC Character, not Guillem March’s, still kicks major as*, so it doesn’t really matter.

A few standouts among the hot trending Indie titles; Image Comics’ Farmhand #1 from creator Rob Guillory. Rob starts anew with this series after a tremendous run on the wildly successful Chew comic. Rob will handle both writing and art duties here. Look for this comic to sell out and gain more momentum as the series progresses. Trending on social media already, so word is getting out.
Scout Comics hits another home run with their new dragon related comic; Zinnober #2.

Interview With McDojoLife – Robert Ingram

There’s an Instagram page that exposes the fake teaching/training within the word of MMA. The page also features other fun videos, but the main focus is on the calling out of many fake MMA teachings and training techniques. This Instagram page is called McDojoLife. It was created by Robert Ingram. McDojoLife has a huge fanbase following and has been mentioned by Joe Rogan on his podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ several times. Popular before Joe Rogan dropped the name, McDojoLife had been and continues to be a tremendous appeal to anyone that comes across the Instagram feed, you immediately get drawn in and an immediate follow ensues.
The McDojoLife Instagram page is now well over 81k followers. That’s a whole lot of fake MMA watchers out there. Let’s catch up to Robert and see how things got started, his motivation, what’s going on now and what is in store for the future.

Trending Pop Culture: Hi Robert, how are doing? Thanks for stopping by!

McDojoLife: Doing great! Thanks for having me.

TPC: Okay, you obviously can spot fake from real mma. What background do

you hold in the arts?

McDL: I have been training in the martial arts for over 21 years. I have a 3rd degree black belt in Karate. 3rd Degree blackbelt in LissaJous-Do (Which basically mean I can swing nunchucks well lol). 6-0 amateur boxer. 4-2 amateur kickboxer. Was on a sport karate team called Full Circle. Purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

TPC: What drove you to pursue martial arts training?

McDL: I was born with a cleft lip/palate which left me with scars on my face. Because of this I was picked on and beaten up a lot in school. In middle school I was beaten badly by a group of boys for over 5 minutes. Two teachers just watched and didn’t break up the fight. A friend handed me a card for martial arts lessons afterwards and I have been training ever since.

TPC: Do you still train on a regular basis?

McDL: Still train and work in the martial arts daily.

TPC: Do you have a day job or is McDojoLife the nuts and bolts for you?

McDL: I’m a full time martial arts instructor. And I would love for McDojoLife to be my full time career.

TPC: Recently Joe Rogan mentioned McDojoLife on his podcast (The Joe Rogan Experience) AGAIN as one of his favorite Instagram places to visit. How does it that make you feel knowing Joe loves your feed that much? And how has it changed things for the McDojoLife Brand?

McDL: It’s amazing to know that you have people follow and like what you do no matter what you do. Joe has shouted the page out a few times and it is always amazing to hear!! Would love to be on the podcast one day. A lot of opportunities open up when someone with so many fans tells them to follow you. It’s a great feeling and it opened a few doors. Excited to show everyone what’s next!

TPC: We’re excited to see! What makes you want to expose these frauds in the first place and why is it important to you?

McDL: The martial arts have been such a great influence in my life I feel this is my way to give back. So many people are being hustled by frauds. I feel that if I can shut at least one of these schools down then I have done the right thing.

TPC: Being an advocate of practicing and being in a real part of the mixed martial arts world, is this the reason you’re able to spot the bs right away?

McDL: I think that most people who have trained in any martial arts can typically spot the BS. However, I do think that the average person who has never trained and is naive may fall for this kind of garbage.

TPC: How do you find these videos?

McDL: Sadly, they are all over the internet and not hard to find. I do however have the best followers on the planet and they love to share stuff with me.

TPC: Have you ever approached a fake person teaching mma and expose them?

McDL: Currently, all of those types of interactions have been online. Luckily even online I have been able to get frauds exposed. I will be going to schools in person now to start working on exposing more.

TPC: When you see a video for the first time and you are convinced what you are seeing is complete bull, what does it do to you emotionally? Does it make you laugh, get angry, or something else?

McDL: All of the above. It’s almost always funny until you think about the fact that these people are being taking advantage of and then it turns to anger.

TPC: What advice can you offer anyone that may want to learn an art form of any sort but aren’t too sure if the place they want to go to is teaching in a proper way.

McDL: Go with your gut and do your research. The internet has really helped give you a library of competent instructors. Take a look and follow your instincts.

TPC: How often do you post and find things to post?

McDL: I try to limit my posts to once a day but I’m constantly interacting on live feeds and Instagram stories. I will always answer anyone who sends me a message as well. It’s might take me a while, but I always will get back.

TPC: Are you on other social media platforms besides Instagram?

McDL: Currently Twitter, Facebook and Instagram but I’m always looking to expand and grow with what’s trending.

TPC: Fans of McDojoLife absolutely love your brand. Are there any plans in the future to expand on what you’re giving them now or are we going to continue to just get amazing content?

McDL: We will be continuing with interviewing martial artists, doing skits and of course doing school call outs.

TPC: Thank you sir for taking some time with Trending Pop Culture, you have the last word…..

McDL: I really appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us for this interview. I would like to say that no matter what martial art you do, whether it’s to be a fighter or just for fun. Simply enjoy it. As long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters. Most arts are legit in one way or another. Keep training, learning and sharing your love for the martial arts. But if there is a scam artist teaching out there just know that we are coming for you and we WILL SHUT YOU DOWN!!
