Comic-Con: New Overstreet Book Announced

From the team behind The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide comes the first new Overstreet-branded book in more than a decade, The Overstreet Guide To Collecting Comics

Aimed at both new collectors and those who have been collecting for many years, The Overstreet Guide To Collecting Comics offers answers and insights into the questions and more facing new collectors and experienced enthusiasts alike.

How do you collect comics? How do you care for them? Grade them? Sell them? How do you turn your comics hobby into a job in the industry? How are comics made? Who have been the greatest comic creators? What are the lasting legacies of the medium?

This new book is not a price guide, but instead is “Comics Collecting 102,” a helpful resource whether one is picking up new comics off the shelves each week or bidding on the highest of the high end back issues.

imageThis book will be offered in the September 2012 Previews from Diamond Comic Distributors and go on sale in November. It will come with a choice of covers, including a stunning Spider-Man by Joe Jusko and a previously unpublished Silver Age DC special cover by the late Don Newton, the artist who illustrated the first original cover (#4) on The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide.

“We’re very excited to be offering this new book, one that we feel is a worthy companion to The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide,” said author and publisher Robert M. Overstreet. “Whether we’re talking about readers of new comics brought in by DC’s New 52, Marvel’s successful movies, Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead, or some other motivation, or for investors who have seen the record prices paid in recent years for key back issues, it’s clear that we’ve entered a period of gaining some converts. We’re gearing this book to help win them over.”

“We had a great time working with Joe Jusko on his Avengers cover for Overstreet #42, so we’re very happy to have him kick off this new book,” said Associate Publisher J.C. Vaughn. “And when Bob Overstreet told me he had a previously unpublished Don Newton cover painting it took us about 12 seconds to figure out that it would work perfectly for this project.”

The Overstreet Guide To Collecting Comics #1 will be comic book size, 320 pages, and full color. It will retail for $19.95.

If you are interested in advertising in this new book, contact Mark Huesman or J.C. Vaughn. Substantial discounts are available for those who advertised in Overstreet #42, and there are a very small number of premium positions still available on a strictly first come, first served basis.
