Cover Gem Picks: Black Cat, Dagger, and Spider-Gwen
This week’s Cover Gem Picks showcase three covers that couldn’t be more different in tone, yet each one hits hard for its
own reason. Starting off with All-New Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider #3 by Lucio Parrillo, we’re treated to a grotesque and jaw-dropping Marvel Zombies variant. Parrillo takes Gwen Stacy’s usually acrobatic elegance and drags it through a rotting apocalypse. Her half-decayed face, snarling mouth, and outstretched hand smeared in blood make this cover look like she’s about to claw straight out of the page. The lightning and muted storm palette crank the tension up even higher. It’s horror done beautifully, and Parrillo once again proves why his realism borders on nightmare fuel when he wants it to. Next, Black Cat #3 by Mirka Andolfo delivers a neon-soaked, digital dreamscape that feels ripped straight from a TRON fever dream. Felicia Hardy crouches in her classic seductive stance, her silver hair glowing like liquid light, the whole cover drenched in electric red. Andolfo captures the perfect mix of confidence, danger, and allure—Black Cat looks like she’s about to break into both your safe and your heart. Finally, Cloak or Dagger #1 by Ivan Talavera takes a sharp pivot into sleek sophistication. The soft lighting, shimmering white suit, and subtle defiance in her expression sell Dagger as a force of calm power. Talavera’s polished realism gives her an almost cinematic presence—less superhero, more mythic figure stepping out of a spotlight. Together, these three covers span horror, style, and poise, making for one seriously collectible trio.
