Diane Nelson LOVES Fans

In a recently unearthed video from 2006, Diane Nelson, new head of DC Entertainment, expresses love, respect, and understanding for fanboys everywhere.

Rich Johnston at Bleeding Cool unearthed some video of Diane Nelson speaking at the Futures of Entertainment Conference, a conference held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006. In the video, Nelson talks about her experience working on properties like Harry Potter and The Matrix, and in doing so, reveals a keen understanding of fan culture that provides a feeling of relieve for DC fans in contrast to the ominous tidings that the Walt Disney Company’s strict dealings over copyright infringement have given to fans in regards to their purchase of Marvel Entertainment.

While Disney has been known to sue party clowns for dressing up as Winnie the Pooh at children’s birthday parties, Nelson talks about allowing adult oriented Harry Potter fan fiction (as long as it featured a disclaimer that it was not "official") to exist in order to foster a loving (if creepy) fan community.
