InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 4/2/14

The InvestComics Hot Picks are back! Although a very short version this week, I’ll be more on track in the coming weeks. I’m working on a HUGE InvestComics Hot Picks Special. You’re going to love it!

Last weekend InvestComics was at the Orlando MegaCon 2014. That show keeps getting bigger and more awesome every year! Special thanks to Beth and Christine for allowing InvestComics to cover their event for the fourth year straight! Thank you!

I put together the short video below that features random video clips and images of the show. The InvestComics Facebook page and Instagram was packed full of live coverage from the show. If you are not on board yet following us on all of the social media listed above, you really should get crackin’! Lots of cool stuff going on there, including comic book giveaways!

Enjoy the video!

There are a total of 11 number ones featured on the Hot Picks. There is not another number available this week here. All number ones!

The one(s) to look out for? Inhuman (2014 Marvel) #1 should be right up there on top of your list. There are 6 covers that accompany the release of this book. Marvel is very high on calling this the next phase of their comic book universe. Yes we’ve all heard it before, but this looks special for some reason. ……..Although, I’m not quite sold on the $75 variant, too much on something that is simply a startup of a new universe for Marvel. If Marvel gives up on the direction then you lose on that expensive variant. If they don’t and it’s a hit, well you’re a big risk taker speculator that deserves kudos.

Everything Guardians of the Galaxy is a very big deal these days. This Wednesday we get a brand new Guardians book that is a prelude to the movie; Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy Prelude (2014) #1. I said it before like I have said on here about 50 times. The Guardians of the Galaxy movie will be the make or break going forward for Marvel Studios. If the movie doesn’t fair as well as they are counting on, things will slow down on the Marvel gravy train moving forward. Guardians MUST do well in order to carry the momentum for Marvel to do what they need to do as far as the Cosmic universe and their other movies. This movie is very important people, pay attention.

Two of the most overused characters in recent times will come together in one comic to kick each other asses. Check out Deadpool vs Carnage (2014) #1. Not so much for the spec here, just flat out fun. Same hold true for the new What If? Book; What If Age of Ultron (2014) #1. What if? comics have always been great reads.

DC likes the resurgence of their water man hero Aquaman. So much so that their going with a new number one with him. Check out Aquaman and The Others (2014) #1. Yes Aquaman is cool again, but he won’t be in a few years again when no one cares about him again. Unless a part in a movie? Aquaman and Namor await their turn, but it will probably be Marvel Studios who attacks the sea first and begins that universe someday. That’s unless Guardians tanks, scratch that off the list.

Three number one Image Comics coming this week and we all know how well number one Image Comics do in this market. Field (2014 Image) #1, Shotgun Wedding (2014) #1, and 68 Rule of War (2014) #1.

Caliban (2014 Avatar) #1 from writer Garth Ennis will be one to keep an eye on. Boom Studios Dead Letters (2014) #1 and from Dark Horse Comics; Itty Bitty Hellboy (2014) 1 For $1.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to share the InvestComics MegaCon 2014 video!
