InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 7/30/14

Lots of cool news coming out of the San Diego Con this week. One of the biggest relates to the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie. That’s right, part 2 announced before part one even hits the screen. That’s quite brazen to say the least. By August 8th the Guardians of the Galaxy movie better have a strong showing and not fall on its face a week after its opening. We hope for the best here, but announcing a sequel to a movie that hasn’t even been released takes some brass ones, we know it’ll do well, right? Right?

Before we get to the short week, we’d like to point out a very big contest that was announced a few days ago on InvestComics. If you are a cosplayer and will be visiting the New York area (or live within the area) in October for the New York Comic Con, you need to enter this contest. A 4 day Press Pass is up for grabs. Click right HERE to check out the details.

Two comics are in for easy picking’s as far as the spec world is concerned. Low (2014 Image) #1 is sold out at Diamond and there is lots of chatter about how good this one is. You best be on this one. As for the second obvious pick up this week? How about Outcast (2014 Image) #2? Outcast has movie talks all over it already. Seems a bit ridiculous to have only one comic out and it’s getting optioned already. But that’s neither here nor there, what is not ridiculous is the money to possibly make back for your $3.99 investment. Outcast #2 is sold out. Outcast is from Robert Kirkman. He does some zombie book that has seen some success (insert dripping sarcasm there). If you see Outcast #2 on the self, do yourself a favor and buy it.

Harley Quinn (2013) #8 will have a new gang called Scatapult appearing. Chew Warrior Chicken Poyo (2014) #1 will bring back the Poyo from the Chew series once again. Poyo first appeared in Chew #8 (2010). This comic is all but gone at the distributor.

With that movie coming out this Friday. You know the one with the sequel already, 100th Anniversary Special Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) #1 will show some good sales. It also has an appearance by Silver Galactus? Is this a first appearance? If anyone knows different, please let us know. Thanks in advance!

A few books to definitely check out this week….. ComixTribe may have another hit on their hands. And Then Emily Was Gone (2014) #1 is sold out. Wool (2014 Cryptozoic) #1 is just about there on the sold out front.

Bodies (2014 Vertigo) #1 and In the House of the Worm (2014) #1 look like fantastic reads. You should check out these as well.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem.
