An extremely busy week as far as speculation/reading goes. So many comics on tap coming out this Wednesday, but before we get to all of that we want to quickly touch on some other things.

If you haven’t done so already, you must join the hottest comic speculation Facebook page right now. The page is called InvestComics: Investing in Comic books 101 (IC Poet Society). Click the link to go directly there and request to join. One of our admins will approve you and the gates of speculation heaven will open up. So many great discussions going on there daily. It’s so informative and a chill environment. Please read the simple rules for the thread before proceeding though. It is not a thread for any fanboy to just post a random picture of a comic book within their collection. It’s a comic book speculation page. A big boy page. So go there now and join, get more informed, and most of all have fun.

InvestComics was at London Super Comic Con a couple of weeks ago. There were several pictures featured on the InvestComics Facebook page as well as our other social media outlets. Our London team lead by Giles Hargraves and Jamie Wright were superb. There are more pictures and some video forthcoming from the show. InvestComics is in the Netherlands this weekend covering the Dutch Comic Con. There are a few pictures posted on the InvestComics Facebook page and our other social media outlets right now. You should check them out. There are many pictures sitting in our bay that will be released from that show shortly. Our Netherlands corespondent Andres Sandoval is killing it right now. Be sure to follow all of the InvestComics social media to get the maximum impact of our Worldwide assault. Here are just a few of our networks of many to Like and follow;

The InvestComics Hot Picks have been a weekly speculation source for 10 years now. There are so many newcomers each and every week. It’s very important that you read the disclaimers. This goes for the veterans as well. Please read the disclaimers.

So what is the InvestComics Hot Picks article about? Many think this is a place to just post about the latest hot back issue comic that hit yesterday or a potential comic down the road because news came out last week about some possible movie. This weekly article covers the new comic releases that are coming out on Wednesday. That’s it. We give readers and speculators the heads up on potential books to either monetize on or just to enjoy a good read regarding new comic book day. There have been many emails, messages, random post saying “what about this book?!” or “Jay you should include this comic in your Hot Picks.” While we love and appreciate the input, this is not what this article is about. Never was in all of its ten years. We sometimes feature solo articles regarding the “breaking news” books. We also post on the InvestComics Facebook page and our other social media outlets. This is why it’s so important for speculators to follow and or like our pages too. InvestComics broke the Thor Hulkbuster comic on our Facebook page and also we gave the scoop on the Black Panther sister book, the Captain America Crossbones book, the Inhumans first appearance (more on this book in a bit), and the list goes on. Don’t miss out anymore, get over there! Again, as far as the InvestComics Hot Picks go, this is strictly about the new comics coming out and then touching on the older comics that relate to the new ones. The real money is within the older books we have always recommended. If you were privy enough to capitalize on all of the back issues we have recommended, you are sitting on a beautiful collection. As always said here regarding the new books; buy new to buy old.

A NEW WEEKLY article will be hitting this week, so look out for it. The new article is going to be fun and we cannot wait to share it with everyone. Look for it before new comic book day on Wednesday. We also want to thank everyone for making the other weekly new article; InvestComics Top 5 a hit too. The response has been a great one. Continue to look for that before Wednesday too.

So let’s get to this crazy busy week…..

Another year, another big event. DC comics is promising to change things drastically (again) with their Convergence event. The event starts up with Convergence #0 this week. The event claims to cover the lifespan of the entire DC Universe. Sounds like fun! Probably going to be some awesome reading ahead here. Probably also going to be the potential of some first appearances too which is always nice. What we do know is there will be completely new looks for many of the characters. How well received will these costumes be? So far 50/50. Will it equate to a speculation rally? Potentially yes, but maybe not for that long. It really depends on a couple of factors. If the new looks will make its way to the big screen and or sustain the duration of its title and not changing it again and again, which tends to happen more often than not. Thus killing the spec market on the new costume deal. The new Superman duds seem to be the one drawing a lot of flack. Oh well, DC doesn’t care what the fanboy wants, they never did and rightly so. They shouldn’t cater to the few. The many pay the bills, not the screaming fanboy. So for now that’s what DC wants and that’s what they will stick with….for now. As for Convergence, great potential on a big storyline here, the spec side is a wait and see. One thing we will give you a heads on is the Adam Hughes Convergence variant is sold out already. A good book to possibly get signed and graded quickly to flip. A pricey $50 variant (now $100 already) makes for making real money a bit harder though. Must score a high grade here to max your return.

New 52 Futures End #48 will have possible ties to Convergence, so pick this one up if you are all in on the Convergence deal.

Harley Quinn #16 will feature the debut of the Gang of Harley’s. What more do you need here really? A Harley comic with an introduction? Yes, massive potential here. Two $15 variants are sold out. The Left hand variant and the right hand variant. No really, those are the variants. Be sure to click the red link to buy/bid on Ebay right now if you want this one. There is also a very cool WonderCon variant as well. We told you to click the Darth Vader #3 link last week when the variant there was $9.99, did you do that? Should have right?

Fantastic_Four_45_InvestComics Inhumans_InvestComics (3)

The Inhumans is one of those teams that InvestComics has recommended over the years time and time again. With Uncanny Inhumans #0 coming out this week, it’s time to strongly reiterate the absolutely, positively one of the best investments sitting out there right now. That investment is Fantastic Four #45 (1965). Could care less how high the price is for this comic right now. Buy it. Buy it. Buy it. This comic still has upside and will not stop for many many years. Here’s why and please remember to credit InvestComics with this information okay? Thanks. Fox Studios will not give up the rights to the X-Men over to Marvel Studios. What is the big mouse to do right? Well this is very easy. Go with their other team that is the closest thing to the X-Men and franchise. In come the Inhumans. Why do you think the title of this comic is “Uncanny” Inhumans? The Inhumans movie is going to be huge. So huge that the Inhumans will have their own movie flow as does the X-Men. Their own storyline, their own individual universe if you will. The Inhumans team will turn the comic book “team” concept movie upside down on its head as did the Guardians of the Galaxy. But the Inhumans will rival the X-Men and that is going to be some serious cash flow for Marvel Studios and more importantly the comic book speculators. Buy the Inhumans. Buy the Inhumans. Buy a low grade Fantastic Four #45 if you do not have the cash to buy a high grade. The low grade is better than NOT having that book at all. It must be in your collection. So go to your local comic shop and see what they have. Click on the red Fantastic Four #45 link to shop on Ebay. We cannot stress enough how much up side this book has. As for the Uncanny Inhumans #0 comic this week, it will focus on the leader of the group, Black bolt. A good pick up here, but a long wait time to make any real monies. The $50 Siya Oum is already sold out. This might be the better buy with a high grade and signature(s) on it. Fantastic Four #45 is where it’s really at.

Marvel continues their onslaught of new Star Wars books this week with Kanan Last Padawan #1. It seems with Marvel’s Star Wars these days, everything is hot. Will this comic be hot? Probably, maybe. Will it last? Maybe. Does it have big buy potential? Not really, but that can change rather quickly in the world of comics. All this character needs is an announcement of appearing in one of the new Star Wars movies and you have yourself a frenzy. That hasn’t happened. It may never happen. So what happens then? Well you then have an animated character making his solo comic debut. Actually an earlier appearance in print is in Star Wars Rebels magazine #2 from last month, but who’s paying attention to that? Ha! Click that red link if you want that magazine. But getting back, animated characters never equate to big dollar signs in comic books unless your name is Harley Quinn. A breakout will happen occasionally, but it’s a rarity for animation characters to bring a big return for speculators. Buy the Kanan Last Padawan #1 comic this Wednesday for a good read and a $4.99 risk. Maybe something will occur. Maybe the comic will get hot right out of the gate and you have yourself a hot book to resell. Anything is possible. The TV show variant ($10) and the Killian Plunkett variant ($15) are both sold out. So if you think the potential is there, buy them. Remember one thing (as said here quite often), sold out comics DO NOT mean there is money to be made. It’s just a heads up for the speculator to make a judgment call.

A couple of weeks ago InvestComics gave fans a running start on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #44 comic. The “death” of a character was the calling there. Turns out it was Donatello and it looks as though he will make it to issue number 45 after all. This week we present the storyline that will give readers the demise of long time character Snakeyes from G.I. Joe. Look for G.I. Joe #212 for the beginning of the end for Snake Eyes. The problem with death in comic books is that there is no death in comic books. No one stays dead. This storyline however will be a hot one. Lots of eyeballs will be on it. Lots of speculators on it. Do not look for long term here. This is going to be a great story, but Snake Eyes will come back eventually. Maybe as someone else, but the character will be back in some form. IDW will bring it as they always do, so definitely check out this storyline. The Larry Hama and Anthony Fuso variants are both sold out. If you’re in the market for these books, better it now if you want them at a lower price. There are currently no G.I Joe #212 comics on Ebay. Many speculators are holding of to see where the marketplace goes. Otherwise you’ll have to wait a while for the prices to come back down to a normal level after the frenzy dies down to purchase a copy.

Long time friends of InvestComics; Creature Entertainment have a hit on their hands. Check out Ravenous #1 this Wednesday. If you ever have the chance to get on over to the Creature Entertainment booth at a convention, do yourself a favor and do so. John Ulloa and Jose Navarro are great guys. Their product is superb too. Killer artist Jose Varese is part of the team and is the penciler on Ravenous #1. Support this Indie company Creature Entertainment and buy this already sold out comic. The variant is a beauty too.

Wonder Woman continues her torrid pace thanks to David and Meredith Finch. Wonder Woman #40 features one of those cool movie variants. InvestComics has touched on a few of the movie variants to have some fun with and either monetize on or to have a one of a kind book for your collection. Wonder Woman #40 features the 300 movie variant. Get actor Gerard Butler and artist for the cover Bill Sienkiewicz to sign this comic. Get it witnessed/graded and you have yourself an amazing book. Again, we don’t want to get fan mail or fanboys screaming “How do I get actor Gerard Butler to sign my comic??? He’s never at a comic convention!!!” Stop it. Really, stop it. This is all in F U N. The odds of running into ANY of the people we suggested to sign your movie comic variants in the last few weeks is extremely slim. You will probably never get Prince, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Tommy Lee Jones, etc, but the potential of ever getting an opportunity to get a signed/graded comic book movie variant by Prince is just flat out fun. Please calm down with the actual thinking that InvestComics is telling fans to actually find these celebrities and get this done. It’s merely an outside the box way of thinking to get a unique book in your collection or to sell. Oh and by the way, Wonder Woman #40 David Finch variant is sold out.

Avengers Ultron Forever #1 will fast forward 500 years into the future. Ultron has won and all humans are now extinct. Dr. Strange brings the Avengers from the past to try and defeat Ultron. Fun times! Superheroes fighting villains, we all love that right? The three part series is brought to you by the awesome artistry of Alan Davis. Two variants are extinct already; the Black Widow and the Captain America. Expect sell outs across the board here.

When talking about the return of comic book characters earlier and how they never really die, they return in some way or another eventually. Wolverines #13 will be just that. Wolverine is “dead” but Deadpool will bring him back in his own way. Yes there will be a Wolverpool? Deadvernie? However you want to call it, but this will be the debut of something. That something being Deadpool as Wolverine. A hot book as a novelty, nothing substantial to come of this later on.

And speaking on debuts, there might be one in Iron Fist Living Weapon #11 this week. Thumb through it to see what’s what.

Kanan_InvestComics Punisher_InvestComics Ravengers_1_InvestComics

Spider-Gwen #3 will guest star the Punisher. There are so many variants with this issue. Nice too though. Earth 2 Worlds End #26 has Darkseid winning it all. He’s a bad dude. And have you seen the cover on this one? Darkseid dangling the defeated heroes in the air like dead mice. So awesome. Sticking on topic about covers, the new Nailbiter #11 cover is as disturbing as the number one issue isn’t it? The Punisher #17 cover by Mitch Gerads is awesome too.

The new Puppet Master #1 will have 24 variant covers. Yes that’s 24, not a typo.

Two followups to sold out number one comics come this Wednesday. Blackcross #2 and Citizen of the Galaxy #2. Let’s see if readership keeps in stride and good word comes out that these series are for real.

Here is the long list of number one comics to check out this week; UFOlogy #1, Arkham Manor Engame #1, True Believers Age of Apocalypse #1, True Believers Marvel Zombies #1, Avengers Millennium #1, Sinestro Annual #1, Empire of the Dead Act Three #1, Rick and Morty #1, Gotham Academy Endgame #1 will have a possible introduction here, Poet Anderson Dream Walker #1, Guardians of the Galaxy Best Story Ever #1, No Mercy #1, Hoax Hunters #1, My Little Pony Fiendship is Magic #1 and Looking For Group #1. Wow that’s a lot of number one comics coming out. Better get those reading glasses on.
