Three issue finales should grab some attention of readers and collectors this Wednesday. Avengers #44 and New Avengers #33 both end to make way for the epic Secret Wars heading our way. Both of these comics are still available with variants as well. Nothing sold out as of yet. Batman #40 on the other hand is sold out across the board. Regular cover and variants are sold out at Diamond. It’s the Endgame storyline finale and it’s a biggie. The Andy Kubert variant is a beauty and the Mask movie variant is quite awesome itself. About that Mask variant; If the stars aline with the galaxy and the a moon sets in Jupiter under the Capricorn astrology sign, maybe if you happen to bump into actor Jim Carey and have him sign the book for you (as a graded witness or with a witness) you would own a very awesome comic. So please no emails or social media messages “How would I get Jim Carey to sign my comic?!” Please, we’re having fun here.

While the Convergence deal is going down (more on that in a little bit), DC is building on their big Justice League event called “Darkseid War” and it begins this week in Justice League #40. This story will be epic and awesome. For many years InvestComics has informed speculators to pick up the first appearance of Darkseid. InvestComics is still bullish (buy side) on this comic. Check out a more recent article on Darkseid on InvestComics from 2013 right HERE. Some very key issues that will probably bounce once DC gets around to their announcement that Darkseid will be the main bad dude in the Justice League movie. Maybe it’ll be Doomsday. Who knows really?!

Here’s a quick speculative lesson here. Darkseid is the better buy, even if Doomsday appears in a movie and Darkseid doesn’t. Yes I said it. Here’s a few reasons why; Darkseid has withstood the test of time and has always been a bad as* as Doomsday has been reinvented and appears in an abundance of overprinted comics back 20 something years ago. Try getting some solid 9.8’s in the Darkseid article mentioned above. They are scarcer. They are simply harder to find in better shape. Most of those comics in that article are cheaper than the first appearance of Doomsday right now. Doomsday will be a passing faze folks. The books will spike, then drop once the JLA kick his butt and kill him. No more Doomsday in movies, now what? Prices drop (hey Ultron fans you paying attention here?) and no one cares about Doomsday anymore. So back to Darkseid we go. He’s the long term money maker here. Not Doomsday. Lets say Darkseid appears in the movie. Many of you are saying “wouldn’t the same happen to the Darkseid character if he appears?” The simple answer is no. DC will not kill Darkseid in a movie (you listening Thanos fans?). DC knows that character commands the respect of ever going back to that well (villain) if need be. You see how this works? They would kill Doomsday, but not Darkseid. Darkseid is a bad as*, he’s money. Doomsday will probably make some very nice cash for many speculators, but many will get stuck holding onto them too long. So Darkseid vs Doomsday…….put money for long term on Darkseid and short term on Doomsday.

Disney is still very angry at Fox for not complying with their needs/wants and will now be getting rid of another one of the Marvel Comics character(s). The X-Men have all but disappeared from the Marvel lure, Wolverine is still dead and now the Fantastic Four comic will be ending; Fantastic Four #645. Take note: don’t make the mouse angry. So how will this triple sized $5.99 issue end everything for Marvel’s first family? Only four variants at last count for one of Marvel’s most prolific runs in their history. That’s the same amount of variants for the New Avengers #33 comic this week. That’s an angry rodent.

Speaking of variants. Silk vs. Black Cat this week in Silk #3. The incentive variant cover is sold out. It’s a nice speculative pick up for when Silk breaks out.

As InvestComics reiterates almost every week now. Buy the new Star Wars comics. No matter if you collect them or not. Princess Leia #3 will be hitting the new comic book shelf this week and you run the risk of missing a first appearance that will explode in the aftermarket due to either a character that will or MAY (speculative) appear in a new Star Wars film. Maybe one of them break out into a popular cartoon, maybe somehow work their way into the Marvel universe? Any of these speculative thoughts are a possibility, so why not read a good story(s) and stay on top of things?

Daredevil #15 will bring back an old villain. We look forward to who is showing up. By the way, anyone catching that Daredevil Netfix series? Good stuff!

DC’s very popular Injustice gets an annual; Injustice Gods Among Us Year Three Annual #1. Looking forward to a good read here.

An interesting comic from Image this Wednesday to definitely check out is Pisces #1. Written by Kurtis J. Wiebe (Rat Queens).

The second bullying issue from Northwest Press hits this week; Rise Comics Against Bullying #2. Read the write up right HERE that InvestComics gave regarding issue #1.

And here is a small list of number one comics to also check out this week; Fubar Mother Russia #1, Mayday #1, Alamo Value Plus #1, Mens Feelings #1.

Each week InvestComics has been breaking down some of the DC Comics Convergence comics. As said a few weeks ago, speculatively speaking here of course, but DC is running a marketing campaign to see what their next move will be for years to come. Do they make 2 separate universes in their convoluted confusing universe already set in place or are they just seeing which reintroduced characters or teams they will set forth with and give them more air time. Again, all speculative speaking here. If they are indeed doing their feeler marketing campaign, here are a few comics a speculator can look for…

Convergence Infinity Inc. #1 features Infinity Inc. of course. Their first appearance came in All-Star Squadron #25 (1983). Infinity Inc. then had their own series which featured the very first artwork (for DC) by a very well known artist today. A special “Carpe Diem” shout out goes to the first person who knows who this is.

The Red Son #1 back in 2003 was a big hit. As of today, it’s still a fan favorite. Check out Convergence Action Comics #1 as it touches on the popular Red Son story from none other than Mark Millar.

Back in 1989 Gotham By Gaslight was a well received story told by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola. DC brings back that story in Convergence Shazam #1.

The Qward Universe will make its way into the Convergence Justice Society of America #1 comic. The Qward Universe first appeared in Green Lantern #2 (1960).

Convergence Plastic Man Freedom Fighters #1 will bring the Freedom Fighters front and center. Check out their first appearance in Justice League of America #107 (1973)

The story from Convergence Worlds Finest #1 will be told by Scribbly Jibbet. Scribbly’s first appearance came in The Funnies #2 (1936). Also appearing in this comic is the group The Seven Soldiers of Victory. They first appeared in Leading Comics #1 (1941) and also Showcase #1 from 2000 (Silver Age).

Convergence #4 and Convergence Blue Beetle #1, Convergence Booster Gold #1, Convergence Crime Syndicate #1, Convergence Detective Comics #1 round out DC’s Convergence week.
