Marvel’s newest title will be hitting this Wednesday; A-Force #1. A much hyped all female Avengers team. With all of the female strong characters of late, this only seems fitting right? Here’s the thing, and this happens way too often. Whenever the big two (Marvel or DC) hit on something (characters/team) that works for them (monetarily), they go ahead and shove it down our throats. Deadpool, Lobo, Wolverine, Spider-Gwen, Ghost Rider, etc. It happens all the time. Appearances aplenty and number one issues as well. The  A-Force team will be shoved in our faces as “must like” material. Here’s newsflash, this A-Force love-fest is not going to last very long. Not being a negative Nancy, just a realist and a speculator. We hope to get proven wrong, but history is doomed to repeat itself here. Quickly, name one mega successful all female comic book team book. You can’t. You can probably rattle off a dozen female characters that are simply red hot right now though and have held their own for years and years. That’s where this all works. Just like some of their counterparts, they are fantastic solo acts or team players. An all female team is not what the fandom really wants. Yes some female comic character are out selling their counterparts easily and we get that the push to lure the girl into the hobby is possibly working, but it’s not going to work with A-Force. Again, prove us wrong, would love that. We want to see success here.
With all this said, the great part about A-Force #1 is we’re probably going to get an endearing story. An all female Avengers heroes team kicking butt should be a fun read. We also know we’re getting a ridiculous amount of variants too. The Adam Hughes variant is sold out.
So get this book because you like to read comics. You probably will not be able to speculate this book and make some serious cash on it. Maybe, possibly an immediate impact, but longer term? Simply don’t see it. Last time here, prove us wrong and sustain some readership/market value. Please. That Adam Hughes variant is nice though isn’t it?! Enjoy the great read.

More Secret Wars awesomeness with the release of Secret Wars Battleworld #2. Witness all of the knock em down drag them out fights in this comic. M.O.D.O.K. Evilness reaches new heights here. M.O.D.O.K.’s First appearance is in Tales of Suspense #94 (1967). Such a goofy looking character, and it’s brought to you by Stan Lee, Jack ‘King’ Kirby and Joe Sinnott. Wow now that’s some firepower. For many years fans have clamored the presence of M.O.D.O.K. On the big screen and it just doesn’t seem feasible without looking completely goofy. Maybe, somehow Marvel figures it out, but seeing a huge head like that flying around would be a “jump the shark” type deal and not a productive one. More like a Dark Crystal or a muppet type feel, thus not taken seriously. Marvel Studios is probably aware of the possible vibe and this is why we’ll probably never see this character on screen.

The Marvel Ultimate universe is ending. What a ride is has been! Witness this tragic event in Ultimate End #1. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Mark Bagley. This is the same exact creative team that ushered in the Marvel Ultimate Universe 15 years ago with the first Ultimate comic ever; Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (2000). Ultimate End #1 will be a story for the ages. No more Ultimate Universe. And we don’t really see it coming back from Marvel either. This won’t be a “take-back” from Marvel. We don’t see Marvel going back to the well anytime soon re-releasing Ultimate books or the universe. Marvel is merging the two universe’s in the Secret Wars/Battleworld story, so essentially they really don’t have a need to revisit the Ultimate universe later on down the line. Of course it can still happen because if Marvel wants it they’ll do it, but bringing back the Ultimate universe (ever) after the dust settles on this storyline would be a tremendous disappointment.

Planet Hulk #1 will be full of awesome this Wednesday. Regular readers here at InvestComics know that Planet Hulk and World War Hulk have been promoted here as enormous buys because of the movie speculation we were first on. No one else was informing speculators to buy The Incredible Hulk #92 (2006) back a few years ago, the first Planet Hulk. Also What If Planet Hulk #1 (2007). We still recommend these comic. Buy them. A surprise creative team backup story accompanies Planet Hulk #1, we look forward to the surprise!

Remember InvestComics informing everyone to buy anything Spider-Verse , and that first Spider-Gwen was in there which paid for all of your new comics and then some for a few months? Yeah, so now Spider-Verse is back; Spider-Verse #1 and this just means that there will be another chance for one of those first appearances or re-introductions to do well in the aftermarket. Stay close here with your ear to the ground. That all said, the Robert Rodriguez Spider-Gwen variant is sold out already. Best get your hands on one at your local shop or click on the link or comic cover here in this article to bid/buy now before the price escapes you.

InvestComics informs speculators and readers almost every week, they need to get on top of any new Star Wars comics if they want to be in the know and the possible aftermarket frenzy. At any time a new hero or villain can show up. This will cause a huge aftermarket boost. Get in and get out. If you want, hold onto at least one of your $4.99 comics if you want to possibly wait and see if the market will explode after the movie in December. Buy new Star Wars comics. All of them……and the new Star Wars #5 this week.

Master of Kung Fu #1.….maybe Marvel really wants this work because of the Iron Fist Netflix on the horizon. Create that whole Karate/Kung Fu vibe. Bring back the Kung Fu lure, make it happening again. Get the first Master of Kung Fu in Special Marvel Edition #15 (1973) just in case we have a resurgence. Pencils and cover by Jim Starlin too. Nice.

A bunch of number one comics to definitely check out this week;

Insufferable #1 from IDW, written by Mark Waid, art by Peter Krause. A new team book and it looks awesome. Boom Studios; Oh Killstrike #1. Interesting premise here. An escaped comic book character needs to be put back into a comic book. And the Kris Anka variant cover is sold out. Aspen Comics makes an appearance this week here with Psycho Bonkers #1.What a great title! Love it. And what a great looking read too. A five issue mini-series. Adventures of Aero Girl #1 from Action Lab Entertainment also looks like an interesting/fun read. The first Accelerators series did well for Blue Juice comics, so now we have a follow up with Accelerators Momentum #1. Valhalla Mad #1 from Image Comics. Written by Joe Casey. A sellout for sure. A whacked out take on mythology. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency #1, written by Mr. IDW himself Chris Ryall. Dark Horse; Resident Alien Sam Hain Mystery #1. A good looking story here. Chuck Dixon’s Winterworld Frozen Fleet #1 from IDW will be a good book to sit back and read.

Deadpools Secret Secret Wars #1. A wacky tale here written by Cullen Bunn. Great Tony Harris regular cover too. And also a solid homage grave variant as well. Sold out comics here most likely.

And check out Daredevil #15.1, “The life and times of Daredevil. 50 years in the making!” Ryan Stegman variant kills!
