Jonathan Ross’ new Turf

UK Television star and renowned Comics fan is working on a new mini-series with Tommy Lee Edwards, called Turf

Americans may not be familiar with Jonathan Ross, but in the UK he is a pretty big deal, he hosts a weekly chat show (think Letterman), has a Radio show, and is involved in a host of other media. But despite this huge fame, he remains a comics geek. He is friends with writers such as Neil Gaiman and Mark Millar, owned a comic shop for a while, his wife Jane Goldman wrote the scripts for the Stardust and Kick-Ass movies, and he even made a documentary about the life of Spider-Man creator Steve Ditko for the BBC.

But now he’s making the step into actually writing a comic. In a podcast interview with Geek Syndicate Ross confirmed what sites like Bleedingcool have been sniffing around for a while now, he is writing a 4-part series entitled Turf, which will be a supernatural gangster series set in the 1920s. The artwork is being provided by Tommy Lee Edwards, who was recommended to Ross by Millar after their collaboration on Marvel 1985.

No word yet on a publisher or a date, but it appears that both Image and Marvel are interested. This may be yet another big media guy coming to play in out pond, but he has the geek pedigree and the passion, this could be a sleeper hit!
