Review: This movie delivers exactly what it’s intended to. Laughter and an emotional roller coaster run. Not enough can be said about actor Bryan Cranston’s ability at his craft. Simply amazing here. Playing a rich man, who is a quadriplegia, humbles the audience rather quick in this film. As a result, he almost makes you forget that he is bound to a wheel chair for the rest of his natural life and this is what makes Mr. Cranston so special. The audience at this screener literally laughed out loud a few times. No, there wasn’t a chuckle here or there, there was true laughter. At times this reviewer found themselves smiling at the screen long after the scene was over. Almost an admiration of what I was experiencing and without consciousness I was granting my approval to the screen players. The trailer promised some emotional tugs at the heart and the film delivered this too. I found myself smiling more then sadden though. Comedian Kevin Hart brought his A game here. Yes, he was Kevin Hart at times, but not the usual Kevin Hart comedic self. While most of us love his comedy side, Kevin does have some serious acting chops. He displays his rarely seen wide range in a beautiful way. Mr. Hart brings the audience into his anguish and bears his soul. The movie theater grows attached very quick, as we come to understand the struggle he deals with. Veteran actress Nicole Kidman brings things together nicely. Playing the meak, overprotective helper that battles with some of her own struggles as well. Nicole adds her sheer elegance to this role, complementing an already brilliant cast.
In conclusion, the trio of Bryan, Kevin and Nicole truly make an amazing trio here.
Sound: Beautiful opera music most audience members will be familiar with. Also the Queen, Aretha Franklin, plays on this soundtrack.
