It’s no secret that the comic book industry has its ‘big two’ and that they’re not too fond of one another. Always trying to calculate, outdo the other. On new comic book day release this Wednesday, such a case is in play and for anyone that’s in the numbers game shall get a treat. Into the process of a nerd fight to ask who is better, Spider-Man or Superman? Then this Wednesday could be for you too. Marvel Comics goes with it’s fifth Amazing Spider-Man volume, as DC Comics goes with their sixth Superman volume. So, it’s essentially Amazing Spider-Man #1 vs. Superman #1 this Wednesday. Draw the line, pick a side, it’s on.
While both of these new releases will trend extremely well, let’s highlight the clash of these heavyweights in the image below…..

As you can see, both bring tremendous value to the reader and the collector alike. To us, there are no winners and losers here. Both of these comics will be another notch within their torrid history for each of them. Bringing on a new vision from top creators in the comic book industry. Fans will love these new titles and some, as always, will find something to groin about too. Begrudge a creator or a fan for no reason but to prove their own validity as to why the comic is not a good product. Word of advice, never get involved with that nonsense, move along if you’re not a fan. Move along. Not that hard to do really.
Out of the two comics, the Amazing Spider-Man #1 may trend a bit longer with aftermarket upticks due to the fact there will be an introduction of a new character (and the new creative team). A guaranteed intro according to the Marvel solicit. With the new release, Marvel will accompany a FREE Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Behind The Scenes Edition) at participating shops. This free comic might be the ‘get’ if the new character turns out to be a hot commodity. The special edition features full penciled pages from the regular comic, plus other goodies. It’s very possible a new character can pop up in here too as a precursor to a future first appearance. This will get the speculators in a ridiculous tizzy. Art from Ryan Ottley really helps things along here as well. Nick Spencer, a fantastic writer will hopefully be on the longevity schedule Dan Slott had with his run. That would be…..amazing.
Not too sure what the Superman #1 book will bring, but with Brian Michael Bendis at the helm, one never can tell what surprise(s) could be in store. Joe Prado and Ivan Reis are on art duties. This creative team on this Superman book is simply explosive. Do yourself a favor and check out both of these comics on Wednesday.

Suicide Squad #44

First appearance alert; Old Man Logan #43 introduces Shadow Tracer.
The X-23 frenzy has subsided a bit since nothing new has come about regarding a solo X-23 movie or another team-up movie. Maybe when Marvel gets full rights to the mutants from Fox, that will change, but for now we have radio silence. The NYX #3 (first appearance of X-23) comic is still way overvalued. A RAW copy sold for a whopping $510 just the other day. Absurd. Yes, ‘rare’ and all that nonsense, still absurd, but it’s money to be made and comics to be had, so good for everyone! This Wednesday, X-23 debuts in her own title, X-23 #1 from creators Mariko Tamaki (writer) and Juan Cabal (artist).
Hey, anyone see that Suicide Squad #44 cover from Guillem March? Reminds you a bit of Venom doesn’t it? It’s a DC Character, not Guillem March’s, still kicks major as*, so it doesn’t really matter.
