InvestComics was at the London Super Comic Con yesterday. The UK Correspondence team of Giles Hargraves and Jamie Wright covered a lot. Check out the awesome duo in the picture. Go talk to them on Facebook; InvestComics: Investing in Comic books 101 (IC Poet Soiety) about the show and comic books.

Be sure to check here and ALL of the InvestComics social media to catch some great images from the show. We will have a dedicated article regarding all the pictures and some video right here on the site. Stay tuned and thanks to Giles and Jamie for an amazing job!

There are so many new comics to check out this week. There are thirteen number one issues coming this Wednesday!

One of the standouts is Image Comics’ Chrononauts #1. The new release coming Wednesday will be accompanied by 6 variants at last count. Expect sellouts across the board here. The story does seem compelling here, but another compelling reason we see such interest is because Mark Millar is attached here. Fans love Millar. Speculators love him too, but to a certain degree. With Mark’s track record of comics going straight to theaters, speculators haven’t really felt the love in the aftermarket. Yes initially they have, but long term, no way. Will Chrononauts #1 follow this route of long standing Mark Millar books going to the big screen? Who knows really? Millar’s Nemesis comic from a few years back was one of the last comics that caught the interest of Hollywood, but hasn’t come to fruition just yet. If Nemesis ever does make it to the theaters, it might be more of the same as far as the aftermarket goes. On the flip side of that coin though Nemesis would be the first solo type character to come out of the Millar camp onto the big screen. Maybe that would account for something stronger for the collector as long term is concerned. Maybe not, but for this week we have Chrononauts #1 and that cool Fiona Staples variant.

Here are the rest of the number one Image Comics that need to be on your radar this week. Invisible Republic #1, Red One #1 (not many on Ebay right now) and Manhattan Projects Sun Beyond The Stars #1.

And here are the rest of the number one issues from the independent circuit to check out; Fly Outbreak #1 from IDW, Frankenstein Underground #1 will be written by Mike Mignola, a funny tale from Antarctic Press called Furry Tails #1, Boom Studios; Giant Days #1, and another from Antarctic Press called Tales From The Creep #1.

Looks like Marvel will finally put Spider-Verse to bed. No mention in the Spider-Man solicit, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t another big storyline behind it. Here comes “Spiral” and it seems like like Yuri Watanabe will be one of the main characters in Spiral. Yuri is better known as the Wraith. Yuri first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #600 (2009), then she first appeared as the Wraith in Amazing Spider-Man ##663 (2011). With the Wraith, it makes for another possible strong female character within the comic book world to squeeze in……Which leads me to Silk #2. Regular readers here already know that we love Silk at InvestComics. We think there is upside for her for years to come. Maybe not exploding so much now, but down the road Silk will be a strong character. A character with substance, a rich past (we’ll learn) and overall appeal. And speaking of a past, Silk #2 will give us a bit more into her origin. Issue number two will be an important comic in your collection if you’re on the InvestComics/Silk train. An appealing pick up for the sake that readers are getting to learn her possible ties to Hydra and origin, which is adding even more to Silk’s lure. Be sure to click the link and check out the variants on Ebay. Very nice.

The Marvel Star Wars excitement continues this week with Princess Leia #2. As mentioned in a previous article, the princess is flying solo and never really has before. Therefore, the speculators have to be on alert as to any possible unannounced introductions within this series.

Hulk #13 features an appearance by Deadpool. Expect a sold out comic before too long. Eye candy cover helps here too.

It’s been a while since a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle book made its way onto the InvestComics Hot Picks. Well wait no more! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #44 will have the demise of a regular player in the TMNT family. Who will we mourn?

Darksied will go toe to toe with Powergirl in Earth 2 Worlds End #24. That cover, wow. That will be a fun read. Superman will show a side we rarely see in Superman #39. More good reading.

Half of the current creative team of Batgirl gets together for Batgirl Endgame #1. The Jokerized mob makes their move toward Batgirl. This should get good.

Back in 1973 DC released an unusual comic called Strange Sports Stories #1 (1973). Fast forward to 2015 and we get today’s version of Strange Sports Stories #1, but this time DC releases the title on the Vertigo imprint. This makes for an attractive read. Also, if you’re a wrestling fan, CM Punk writes his second comic book story ever in these pages. His first was mentioned a few articles ago. There are others getting their first crack at a story as well in here. It’s the 2015 version of DC’s New Talent Showcase. Ahh, brought you back right? Be sure to click this red link if you have no idea what DC’s New Talent showcase is. Fun times those books were.

I do have a point as to why I am about to talk about something. So either stay with me (which I hope you do) or not……

I’m about to get a bit personal about a topic I know all too well. I don’t or never wanted to, but I do. If you have children, then read on. If you don’t and are full of anger, then read on. If I can make at least ONE young person understand and seek help or enlighten them in some way, then I will have accomplished more than these Hot Picks in the last 10 years will ever do for me. Solace.

Bullying unfortunately exist within our society and is only recognized more so now than ever before because of the social media and vast coverage it can get. It has existed since I was a boy in elementary school and way before then too. The feeling of loneliness/emptiness is sometimes too immense for kids and or teenagers to handle, so they take measures into their own hands they only know how and they take their own life so that the pain will go away. It happens far too often and it truly needs to stop. Bullying comes in all different ways. It’s become a mainstay on the internet where insecure people hide behind a computer and spew out hatred, negativity, prejudice, and a host of other words that are not coming to mind right now. Too many times even on the InvestComics social media I see opinions that are too strong willed to the point that no one is listening and everyone is shouting. There are bully’s on InvestComics social media that simply do not like InvestComics, which is fine, but to take time to insult or deliver hateful things is a sickness. Not liking something and following it for a simple reason of delivering hatred is not healthy. But unfortunately this exist. It’s another form of bullying and there are so many different variations that one must always be vigilant regarding their children (if you have any) especially. Please be aware and listen to your children if they are sending signals to you that there could be a possible issue at school or at work or anywhere. It’s extremely vital we stay on top of it because your child might be asking for help, but simply does not know how to express it. We all lead busy lives, but stay in tune with your children. You are their link to their future and they depend on you. It truly pains me when I hear of teenager taking their life over a Twitter war, or I see a senseless violent video of some kid getting picked on or beat up. It’s simply not necessary in my opinion. Fight back you say? Sure in an age where a gun is so accessible. Where violence is the norm and is promoted daily. Regardless of how much I may teach my children that violence is not the answer, there is some 11 year old playing Grand Theft Auto thinking it’s okay to shoot at people randomly because he is not being taught otherwise. So how do you teach your children to stay firm and stick up for themselves when an 11 year old has access to daddy’s gun and just got beat up by MY son? Well, to be honest I’m not sure, but there is help if you need guidance (see links below). Advocating to avoid conflict is the first priority. After that, alertness and parenting skills need to be ears up. Please seek help or talk to anyone regarding an issue you might be going through or maybe your child is going through.

Bullying_InvestComics Rise_Comics_Against_Bullying_1_InvestComicsA few months back in January, the InvestComics Hot Picks #353 touched on an anti-bullying comic Marvel released; Avengers No More Bullying #1. InvestComics was to put forth an anti-bullying campaign, but had a minor setback. We are still going to forge ahead, but for now we want to focus your attention on Northwest Press’ Rise Comics Against Bullying #1. Buy this comic book and read it with the family, with your kids. Pass it along or recommend someone else to buy it. Proceeds will go to organizations such as GLAAD, Stand For The Silent and Prism Comics. Please take the time to support each one of these non profit organizations. They put out a tremendous amount of work to get the word out. The InvestComics team thanks you.

Divinity #2 and Secret Identities #2 both showed great sales with their respective number one issues. Check out the second
issue to see if you may stay on board. InvestComics like the new team book Secret Identities a lot.

Last week, the VP of InvestComics Rafael Rosario and I were talking about how great the Moon Knight character is. InvestComics has recommended Werewolf by Night #32 throughout the years (about $500+ ago and 10 years ago). And we STILL recommend the first appearance. Buy it. Buy it. Oh yeah, so Moon Knight #13 starts a new arc this week. Buy it because Moon Knight is cool, the read is cool and you are cool.

So those DC movie variants are still coming. Best way to monetize and have a very unique product is simple. Get the Fugitive Batman Superman #20 cover signed by Harrison Ford/Tommy Lee Jones and grade it. The Lost Boys Teen Titans #8 variant, get that one signed by Kiefer Sutherland and graded. Feldman too if you feel like it, but Kiefer is the prize here. And get Batgirl #40 signed/graded by Prince. Batgirl #40 signed by Prince? Yes I’ll take one of those.
