Alan Moore working on new opera with Blur’s Damon Albarn

Moore will team with Albarn and his Gorillaz compatriot Jamie Hewlett for a new Opera about the Elizabethan alchemist John Dee.

Legendary comics writer Alan Moore may not write that many comics these days, but he’s still doing plenty of other stuff, his Zine Dodgem Logic is awesome, and now it’s been revealed that alongside Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, of Blur and Tank Girl fame respectively, and Gorillaz fame collectively, Moore is working on a new Opera about John Dee, an Elizabethan alchemist, who was very influential at the time.

The occult is of course a big interest for Moore, it plays a big part in Promethea, From Hell and many of his other works, and he himself is a practicing magician, so this sounds right up his alley. And Albarn is one of the most interesting modern musicians, especially when he gets together with Hewlett, so I can’t wait to see what all this is about.
