Anime and Manga Creator Dies in Climbing Accident

Authorities have identified the body of Yoshito Usui, creator of the popular Manga series Crayon Shin-chan. Usui has been missing since September 11th.

Usai had gone on a routine hiking expidition in Gunma Prefecture in Japan. According to family members, he had intended to climb the Arafune Mountain, which is 4,665 feet high. The 51 year old creator’s body was found at the bottom of the Tomoiwa cliff on the mountain.

Crayon Shin-chan was being released in North America as an English translation, and the anime series of the same name was aired for a while on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The future of the manga is not yet determined.
