Legend Bill Sienkiewicz answer’s 10 question for InvestComics.

Bill Sienkiewicz was one of my boyhood Idol’s growing up in the 80’s. My late father introduced me to his New Mutants run and said “son, this man is an artist.” I just wish he was here to see Bill Sienkiewicz on the InvestComics website today. It truly is an honor to have Bill here. Dad you were right, he truly is amazing.

This is dedicated to you Dad.

1. What are you working on (creatively) right now?

10ftpbs_8.gif10ftpbs_19.gif(BS) so many things- where to begin? Projects in Music and Trans-media with Weapons of Mass Entertainment , more projects with DC Comics and Marvel, and other publishers Several projects with Image Publishing, personal paintings and mixed media for galleries- working with Showtime on a project I’ll give more info on once things are farther along. Doing the covers for the new hardcover editions of the collected works of Philip K. Dick, My own anthology series. (yet to be named–but doing a book utilizing all my styles, serious to insipidly silly , treating it as if the book is done by a slew of artists and writers, but doing it solo–sort of the “”Three Faces of Bill” times 3– And that’s just for starters —

2. If you could have 1 superpower, what would it be?

(BS) 3 not one— 1. The ability to get a full ten hours of restful, regenerative sleep compressed int one hour- combined with the ability to completely 10ftpbs_16.gif10ftpbs_10.gifremember all my dreams and nightmares —so i could do more “stuff”during waking hours. and more weird “stuff” ,at that- 2. Selfishly, the ability to think of and say just the right, brilliant, insightful, biting, hilarious, perfect thing at the exact right moment, not twenty minutes later in the car… 3.Charisma, combined with Restraint

3. Do you have a routine that you follow before or during work?

(BS) Other than taking time to exercise, and eat right ,no. Spending time at the easel, drawing board, or computer, means i need to balance that time with intense physical activity. It’s meditative and invigorating, i many times I solve more problems related to the board when I’m away from it.

4. Who is one of your favorite creators to work with?

(BS) I don’t want to leave anyone out- and i think it’s pretty obvious the ones I’ve loved collaborating with– the works have withstood the test of time. But one person i want to work with more is Me. And ones I’ve yet to work with– Collaboration is a wonderful organic thing.

5. In your opinion, do you feel that the movie industry is doing a good job with the Comic Book movies?

(BS) By and large. They’ve not strangled the goose yet- but the danger is always there that they’ll glut the market with attempted blockbusters that aren’t warranted. I’d love to see smaller more insightful wonderful films like Ghost World. They don’t all have to be Dark Knight, X-Men or Spider-man. That said- I have great hopes for Stray Toasters on the big screen.

6. What comic book hero/villain do you want to see on screen?

(BS) Big Daddy. MY Big Daddy from ‘Stray Toasters’ – not the other one of recent vintage. Seeing a Villain on the screen with a toaster for a head would be a modest yet completely loony goal realized.

bstoaster.gif7. In your vast body of work, which one is the most memorable to you?

(BS) They’re all memorable- each for different reasons. It’s like asking a parent which of his kids he loves more.

(JK) Checkmate.

8. What advice could you give for a creator trying to break into the industry?

(BS) Don’t do it just to get a “‘graphic novel” made into a movie. The tail is wagging the dog in that instance and you’re bound for a truckload of disappointment. You’ve got to love 10ftpbs_18.gifcomics as a medium and as an art form. To be willing to do it basically for nothing– simply because you MUST CREATE–it’s a calling that is in your DNA. anything else is just transparently cynical opportunistic bullshit.

9. “My best Investment in life was…….”

(BS) Years of therapy

10. Have anything you’d like to plug?

(BS) Let’s leave this one open for when the timing is right— But .. Yes.. I do.

Bonus Questions!

Who were your influences breaking into the Industry?

(BS) I think this one has been answered so many times, i’ve even bored myself.

Digital or Paper?

(BS) Both-and certainly more that haven’t been developed yet–

Best, Bill

Thank you Bill.
