Comic Book Breakthroughs: From Arkham’s Naming to Iconic Hero Showdowns

Key Comic Thursday episode seven……
Batman #326 from 1980, the issue that officially named Arkham Asylum. Yes, before this pivotal moment, it was just a humble ‘hospital.’ Because nothing says ‘healing’ like a gothic fortress filled with Gotham’s finest crazies. Daredevil #184, Frank Miller decided it was high time for Daredevil and Punisher to share a playdate. The result? An iconic cover and a meetup that had fans and comic racks quivering in anticipation. Their very first meet-up. Batwing #21 from 2013 gifts us Tiffany Fox. Because every superhero universe needs more brilliant minds, and who better than Lucius Fox’s daughter to keep the tradition alive? Fantastic Four #110 brings the mysterious Agatha Harkness into the fold. 1971 was apparently the year Marvel decided, ‘What our cosmic adventures need is a witch.’ And honestly, they weren’t wrong. Over in the realm of mutants, New Mutants #16 from 1983 introduces Warpath. There’s one thing the X-Men needed, another brooding character with a penchant for vengeance. Wonder Man #4 from 1991 debuts Splice. Even Z-list villains can steal the spotlight.

See you next Thursday. Until then, be a good human.
