Confirmed: Diane Nelson heading “DC Entertainment”

Paul Levitz no longer President and Publisher; now an editor and consultant

Warner Bros. announced today that they were creating a new company, DC Entertainment, "to fully realize the power and value of the DC Comics brand and characters across all media and platforms."  Diane Nelson, who successfully worked as a liason between Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling, will head this new company.  Nelson will report to Jeff Robinov, President of the Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

Meanwhile, Paul Levitz, who has been the President and Publisher of DC Comics since 2002, will leave that role in order to return to writing.  He will also act as a contributing editor and consultant with the new DCE.

The purpose of the new company, according to Warner Bros., is to "strategically integrat[e]
the DC Comics business, brand and characters deeply into Warner Bros.
Entertainment and all its content and distribution businesses.
"  DC Comics will remain a cornerstone of the new company.  Barry Meyer, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros., said that “DC Comics and its super hero characters are
truly touchstones of popular culture, and the formation of DC
Entertainment is a major step in our company’s efforts to realize the
full potential of this incredible wellspring of creative properties.”
