Creator Spotlight – Artist Kaare Andrews

Kaare Andrews is a Canadian comic book writer, artist, and filmmaker. He was born on July 13, 1975, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Andrews has worked on several comic book series such as Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Renato Jones, and Incredible Hulk. He has a diverse drawing style that ranges from hyper-realistic to more cartoonesque. Andrews was the first recipient of the Shuster Award for Outstanding Artist for his work on Spider-Man: Doctor Octopus.
In addition to his work in comics, Andrews has directed short films and public service announcements. He directed his debut feature film Altitude in 2010, which starred Jessica Lowndes and Julianna Guill. His last film, Sniper: Assassin’s End, reached #1 on iTunes in September 2020.
Andrews has also designed album covers for bands such as The Beta Band and Tegan and Sara. He directed the music video for Tegan and Sara’s single “Living Room”
In 2006, Andrews wrote and drew a four-issue mini-series set 35 years in the future known as Spider-Man: Reign, starring a retired Spider-Man. The series is one of the greatest Spider-Man stories ever told.
