DC News From Diamond Retailers Summit: Starman and other Dead Comics Return for Blackest Night!

DC news coming out of Baltimore for the Diamond Retailers Summit indicates that several dead titles, including STARMAN by James Robinson, will be returning for one issue only as part of Blackest Night!

First, we learned that Blackest Night #6 will ship to be sold in shops on December 30th. This is because January will be an off month, with no issues of the event shipping. Fans who are dying for more of the story, however, can take solace in the amazing news that it won’t just be dead characters returning in the event – DC will also be bringing back several retired titles for one issue only!

The issues include:

The Power of Shazam! #48 by Eric Wallace
The Question #37 by Greg Rucka
Suicide Squad #67 by John Ostrander
Phantom Stranger #42 by Peter Tomasi
Catwoman #83 by Fabian Nicieza
The Atom and Hawkman #46 by Geoff Johns
Weird Western Tales #71 by Dan DiDio
Starman #81 by James Robinson

Though the titles will all be Blackest Night tie-ins, acclaimed writer James Robinson will take the opportunity to tie up some loose ends from his Starman series, which is currently being collected in some very nice hardcovers (which this reporter is currently reading).

Robinson also had this to say on Twitter:

Just so everyone
knows now, Blackest Night Starman will feature a Black Lantern Starman.
It will feature Opal and characters therein. But —

— It will not
have Jack Knight. He is happily in SF like me. And if he ever came
back, it should be something bigger then a single issue.

But I am very happy with the issue I’ve written. I think you’ll dig it.
