First Class Movie Out, X4 and New Mutants In?

Despite rumors last week about the filming of X-Men First Class, cyclops actor Tim Pocock is has retracted his statements and producer Lauren Shuler Donner is talking about different directions for the franchise.

The Outhouse reported last week on a twitter message from Pocock saying that the filming of X-Men: First Class would begin in 2010. However, Pocock has since retracted that statement with a brand new tweet:

victim of cruel prank.last tweet=NOT me.AM filming Aussie show till2010.no official word on XM:FC but am interested.please post retraction.

Discussing this in an interview with Slashfilm , Lauren Shuler Donner, X-film producer, is instead talking about the possibility of a direct sequel in the franchise, X4, as well as a New Mutants movie.

Shuler Donner revealed that she has been cooking up plans for several other mutant films. The two she named? An X4, reuniting the X-Men and a big screen outing for The New Mutants. X4, she said, had yet to be pitched to the studio, however.

The First Class film is still in the works at some point, but no actors or actresses have been signed to contracts for it, despite all being under options for future movies, and there are currently no plans to begin production on that particular movie.
