Hot New Comic Covers This Week 4-30-25
This New Comic Book Day, nostalgia crashes Saturday morning cartoons into the Fantastic Four, black suit Spider-Man stares straight into your life choices, and Mysterio brings the fishbowl nightmare you didn’t ask for. Red Hulk and Doom flex their muscles harder than your gym instructor, while over in Hellhunters, it’s nothing but sunny skies and piles of bodies. Rogue somehow manages to look lethal and flawless at the same time, and if that’s not enough, Something Is Killing the Children reminds you that blood-splattered horror is still chic.

Kicking off the cover madness this week is Fantastic Four #31 by Sean Galloway, who decided Saturday mornings weren’t just for cereal commercials and half-baked cartoons anymore. This cover hilariously mimics an old-school animated style slapped right on top of the original pencil page it was drawn on, making you wonder if your childhood TV just started glitching out again. Unique? Yes. Nostalgic? Aggressively so. Then swinging in from the shadows with Ultimate Spider-Man #16, Michael Walsh delivers a cover that feels like Spidey is clinging sideways to the building just to glare into your soul. With the black suit in full broody glory, a neon-drenched purple and pink New York City behind him, and the moon acting like the ultimate mood light, it’s a cover begging to be admired and slightly judged. Meanwhile, things get uncomfortably apocalyptic with Hellhunters #5 by Marc Aspinall, where the sun isn’t just setting, it’s straight-up melting the sky in every possible shade of orange. Our maybe-hero flies midair while a pile of unfortunate souls decorate the ground below. Warm, fuzzy feelings not included. Definitely in Cover Gem territory if you’re into nightmare fuel. Over in the “What is Mysterio plotting now?” corner, Ultimate Spider-Man #16 by Gerardo Sandoval gives us everyone’s favorite fishbowl-headed villain looking ten kinds of sinister. A bright yellow backdrop makes sure you don’t miss his looming purple menace, even if you try. His blank dome helmet only makes it worse—you’re forced to project your worst fears into it. Good luck sleeping tonight. Then we get Red Hulk #3 by John Giang, where Doctor Doom is out here channeling Green Lantern energy beams like it’s casual Friday, all while a furious Red Hulk looms ominously behind him. Doom looks calm, collected, and ready to wreck absolutely everything. It’s the kind of power pose you copy when you want to terrify your coworkers in a meeting. Next up, Something Is Killing the Children #41 from Anwita Citriya reminds everyone that just because you’re covered in blood doesn’t mean you can’t still look absolutely radiant. A fierce close-up of our lead character’s neon-glowing eyes paired with the tasteful splatter pattern across her face and hands. A friendly reminder that survival horror never goes out of style. Wrapping up this brutal beauty pageant is Rogue The Savage Land #4 by Ivan Talavera, showing Rogue out here looking like a deadly swimsuit model with a spear. She’s posted up by a scenic waterfall, throwing you a look that’s a mix between “come hither” and “come closer and die.” Either way, she’s serving Savage Land realness, and honestly, it’s kind of rude how good she looks while threatening violence.
