Hot New Comics 12-10-25
Some weeks the release wall looks like a normal Wednesday. This is not one of those weeks. This is the kind of week where collectors panic, FOMO spikes before lunchtime, and someone inevitably whispers “this one might heat up” just loud enough to ruin your wallet. First appearances, first cover appearances, character resets, status-quo breakers — every corner of the hobby gets a pressure point. Below is the complete breakdown of this week’s Hot Picks.
Absolute Batman #15
The Absolute line refuses to slow down, and this week brings a major escalation: the first full appearance of the Absolute Joker. Anytime Batman gets a new Joker — especially one tied into DC’s biggest modern initiative — collectors take notice. Zdarsky and Thompson keep Bruce emotionally shredded, while Jorge Jiménez pushes the aesthetic into nightmarish territory that still feels high-tech. A new Joker is always speculation fuel, and this one sits in the center of the Hot Picks conversation.
Amazing Spider-Man #17
Peter Parker continues one of the more unpredictable eras in recent years. This issue reportedly pushes a new problem into a sharper, more dangerous place. Collectors know ASM keys often sneak up months later, and issue #17s historically have a habit of aging well — especially when villains or arcs transition toward something bigger. A must-watch modern Spidey title this week, because……this is the FIRST APPEARANCE of the new villain named Seer.
DC K.O. Wonder Woman vs. Lobo #1
DC throws two brick-wall personalities into a collision course: Wonder Woman and Lobo in a single oversized smash-fest. These K.O. issues often debut new concepts, challengers, or twists that quietly grow into future relevance. Anytime Lobo is involved, collectors perk up anticipating a wild card character drop or a strange supporting player who ends up becoming a later key.

Habitat #1
A bleak sci-fi debut set inside an orbital structure on the verge of collapse, Habitat #1 immediately feels like the type of indie #1 that either disappears forever or becomes the kind collectors hunt later in regrettable aftermarket bidding wars. New world, new threat system, new cast — all prime ingredients for the speculation crowd. First issues like this are always better bought early than chased later.
Infernal Hulk #2
The Hulk is deep into cosmic-horror metamorphosis, but the main driver of the speculation bus is the 1st appearance cover-only debut of the Knullified Hulk variant. It is absolutely not a story appearance — but collectors don’t care when a cover creates a new visual identity this dramatic. Meanwhile the story itself pushes Hulk further into monstrous territory. Hulk runs often produce delayed-reaction keys, so this is one of the biggest Hot Picks of the week.
Longshots #3
This series continues to stack momentum as a quirky, unpredictable adventure with characters that feel primed for future “why didn’t I buy this at release?” conversations. Issue #3 deepens the cast, expands the world, and may introduce concepts that become foundational later. Early issues of offbeat books like this tend to age very well on the speculation front.
Nova Centurion #2
Marvel cosmic fans have been waiting for a true Nova revival, and the Centurion storyline is shaping into exactly that. Issue #2 expands the framework around the Corps, making room for new threats, new ranks, and potentially new recruits — always a magnet for collectors waiting on the next breakout Nova-related character.

Spider-Man & Wolverine #8
Two of Marvel’s most bankable characters continue a sharp, time-bending, dimension-twisting adventure that has quietly been laying seeds for long-term relevance. This issue reportedly hits a major pivot point, and team-up books that reshape the dynamic between Logan and Peter often end up revisited years later. A quiet but important Hot Pick this week with a FIRST APPEARANCE.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13
The post-Mutant Nation era continues building out the new TMNT world structure. Fresh factions, shifting alliances, and major long-form storytelling make this a sleeper series for collectors waiting for new Turtles characters or upgrades. TMNT keys strike unexpectedly, and #13 feels like a setup issue to something larger.
The Darkness #1
Top Cow resurrects one of its crown-jewel properties, and longtime collectors have been circling since announcement day. New mythology, new enemies, and a new direction make this relaunch a true speculation magnet. The Darkness has a long history of early-issue keys, and this #1 easily becomes one of the biggest “grab it now” moments of the week.
The End 2099 #1
Marvel gives 2099 a definitive, explosive chapter meant to tie off multiple character threads. These future-timeline stories often seed future villains, forms, or concepts that show up years later. With the 2099 brand heating up again, this becomes one of the most likely surprise keys of the week.
Ultimate Spider-Man #23
Peter Parker’s modern reinvention continues picking up speed. This issue pushes the evolving conflict into a more dangerous space, and the Ultimate line has been producing sleeper keys since the reboot. Anything that redefines Peter in this era deserves attention.
Youngblood #2
Rob Liefeld’s return to Youngblood continues to generate nostalgia-driven and speculation-driven momentum. Issue #1 sparked the conversation, and #2 continues establishing character roles that may lead to new villains or team upgrades. Classic 90s properties making a comeback always require monitoring, and this one is no exception.
