Kill Your Darlings #1 – Series premiere from Image Comics. A horror story about an eight year old girl named Rose whose life gets turned upside down because of her creative little play-pretend mind. Her stuffed animals have an evil streak in them and we’ll have to read what happens from there between Rose and her “friends”. This comic is featured as our Hot Pick Spotlight this week. Two writers make their comic book writing debuts; Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan. Artists Bob Quinn and John J. Hill are on board here.
Batman #137 – Writer Chip Zdarsky (Marvel Creator Spotlight a few weeks ago) presents part two of his Gotham War story. Chip is steering the ship right out of the gate at breakneck speed and we’re here for it.
Silver Surfer Rebirth Legacy #1 – Comic book legend creators; Ron Marz and Ron Lim return to the scene of their crime as they weave a continuing story from their amazing Surfer run back in the day. These two know how to navigate this character and will bring the magic we are all accustomed to.
Birds Of Prey #1 – Long-time Marvel Comics writer Kelly Thompson makes her DC Comics debut this Tuesday. She’ll start up the new series here with very high expectations. We say Kelly will deliver the goods with absolutely zero issues. This series will pop immediately with readers, whether the speculative side follows is a wait-and-see game after a few issues are released. The aftermarket will depend on how much the readers work up the masses to purchase this series.
Spider-Gwen Annual #1 – Marvel’s Contest Of Chaos continues this Wednesday. Each week comic readers/collectors are treated to a new battle between heroes. Granted, there have been a few duds along the way, but this one doesn’t seem all that bad. It’s Ghost-Spider vs. White Fox. We’ll take that. Not the best, but a battle we’ll definitely check out. White Fox first appeared only 8 years ago in Contest Of Champions #1 (2015). A raw copy will cost you between $7-$15. A graded CGC 9.8 sold recently at a scratched-out price of less than $100. Two sellers took less than a hundred, so where the true price may lay here is a mystery, but we’ll guess around $65-$75? A hundred dollars or more, would and IS way too much for this book.
Tear Us Apart #1 – A new story of love/assassins and action from Dark Horse Comics. Writer Jay Baruchel and artist Alessandro Micelli.

Doctor Strange #7 – The previous issue has led up to the first-ever face-off of General Strange and Doctor Strange this week.
Blue Beetle #1 – No one really asked for a Blue Beetle series, but here we are. Yes, the film did not meet its predicted numbers, but comic books are always different. Comics are capable of bringing a different vibe because of the various writers and artists attached to their projects. Writer Josh Trujillo and artist Adrian Gutierrez will bring their vibe to this new ongoing series.
Ghost Rider Wolverine Weapons Of Vengeance Omega #1 – Writer Ben Percy and artist Geoff Shaw bring this crossover to a close.
Poison Ivy #14 – A first appearance of a new villain.
Star Wars Dark Droids #2 – Not surprising at all, writer Charles Soule is bringing his A-Game to this Star Wars crossover event. Charles Soule is to the Star Wars comic lure as Jim Starlin was to the Marvel Cosmic Universe. Same principle here, without his/their storytelling, the landscape reads very differently.
Amazing Spider-Man #33 – Disney will continue their first appearance mash-up covers this week. Daisy Duck will appear as Ms. Marvel on the cover variant of Amazing Spider-Man #33.
Fire & Ice Welcome To Smallville #1 – The duo makes a comeback, thanks to writer Joanne Starer and artist Natacha Bustos.
