There are a few comics to really keep your eyes peeled to this week. Captain America (2012 7th Series) #12 will bring the character known as Dr. Mindbubble. Yes that’s correct, Dr. Mindbubble. Okay so what’s in a name right? Hey it’s a first official appearance here, so we must take a looksee. Always nice to have intro’s within the pages of a Cap book. Afterlife With Archie (2013) #1 has created quite the buzz around the comic book scene. With the award winning talents of writer Roberto Aguirre Sacasa and artist Francesco Francavilla, coupled with a zombie apocalypse, this new ongoing series (not for the Archie “kid readers”) is going to sell out quick. There will be variants of this comic available, be sure to grab them. The variants by the way are absolutely gorgeous.

Superman and Wonder Woman begin their romance novel/superhero comic with the Superman Wonder Woman (2013) #1 release. DC has done the unthinkable here folks!! Where’s Lois? Well welcome to the “real life”. Man gets famous; he wants the hottest chick on the block. Men are dogs aren’t they? Just kidding of course. But DC may have actually found a little niche with their experiment here. Why not put the most powerful superhero with the most powerful female hero and let the romance ensue. It may, may, may peek the interest of a “non” female reader to come along and pick this comic up. Fangirls and fanboys will pick this up regardless if it’s a decent story, but what about the elusive female readership that so many comic companies are trying to cater to? Well DC, you may have something here. Awesome stuff. The relationship between Supes and WW is essentially 66 years in the making. Better late than never right? They first met up in All-Star Comic #36 (1947). Good luck trying to snag that comic right now at a decent penny with all of the WW talk of possibly appearing in the new Superman/Batman movie. Oh and by the way, pick up the scarce variant black and white cover if you want to make a nice return on your dollar.

Major revelations are revealed in Batman Zero Year. Origins and a big surprise hits us in Batman (2011 2nd Series) #24. Pick that up, see if it’s a “holy sh*t!” moment or a “meh” moment. Our guess it’s going to be a “holy Batman!” Moment.

With every successful event comes the additional spin off books, case in point this week with Forever Evil Arkham War (2013) #1. Is it really necessary to have a separate Forever Evil campaign run through Arkham? Well maybe, but it kind of feels like a 3D moment doesn’t it? Cool, but why? Money that’s why! Duh! DC Comics striking while the iron is hot here with more Forever Evil comics. Probably a great, fun read, but unless there is a major wow moment going on in here or an intro, not much going on for this comic in the aftermarket.

Speaking of cashing in, this is great. Image Comics knows that the Walking Dead is their major moneymaker right? In Walking Dead (2003 Image) #115 Rick has declared “All Out War”, a 12 part storyline that starts this week. It’s one of the most dramatic event storylines to fill these pages in some time, if ever. That’s all well and good, right? So what shall they do to introduce a new major storyline like no other? How about 12 variant covers? That’s right, 12 covers…..wow. Cha-ching!

Image Comics comes at us with more great number one comics this week; Three (2013 Image) #1 and Rocket Girl (2013 Image) #1.

Coffin Hill (2013 DC/Vertigo) #1 will be another fantastic Vertigo comic probably. Death Sentence (2013 Titan Comics) #1 from Titan looks like a very interesting comic. Looks like a movie to come out of that someday possibly. Cryptozoic Man (2013 Dynamite) #1, already covered on Comic Book Men season II, look for more coverage on this comic in Comic Book Men season III. Horror comics are making a mild comeback and this week the much talked about (positive) Department of Monsterology (2013 Renegade Arts) #1 will be hitting the shelves. A few cool/fun comics to check out this week; Shaolin Cowboy (2013 Dark Horse) #1, Multiple Warheads Down Fall (2013) #0, and Marvel Universe Hulk Agents of Smash (2013) #1.

That’s it for this week. Don’t to enter the contest, LIKE/Follow InvestComics. New York Comic Con bound, see you in 2 weeks!
