DC comics’ variant comic cover theme this coming week will be Warner Bros Animation/Looney Tunes covers. A few of them hit the mark big time. Batman Superman #26; cover from Ryan Sook, Batman #46; cover from Yanick Paquette, Catwoman #46; cover from Darwyn Cooke, and Starfire #6 from Emanuela Lupacchino.

Justice League United #15 will team 4 groups together for the first time in one book. Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace, Creature Commandos, and OMAC. Great reading here!
Speaking of a great read, check out Superman American Alien #1. This comic will have writer Max Landis teaming with several of the industries superstars for a seven issue series chronicling Clark Kent as a youngster and then working all the way up to Superman. The series is said to be a look as we’ve never seen before, so we are excited. The first issue will be illustrated by Nick Dragotta of East of West. Fantastic Ryan Sook cover too.
Vertigo’s new mini-series; Slash and Burn #1 should be on your reading list this week.
Not too sure how the conservatives or politically correct will handle the title of the new Image Comic; The Goddamned #1. Writer Jason Aaron probably has a hit book here regardless of what anyone thinks. Jock supplies a cool variant.

Jason Latour (Spider-Gwen) will guest pencil and write Southern Bastards #12.
Miles Morales will join the All new all different Avengers #1. Lets see how he is as a full time team player. Written by Mark Waid and drawn by Adam Kubert. The Jim Cheung hip hop cover is our favorite. This series will do well.
All new Wolverine #1 will have X-23 as the main character. Her first appearance was in NYX #3 (2004). X-23 was hot for a while there a few years back. She cooled off and then she fell into obscurity. Not anymore! The regular cover and the hip hop variant are the best covers.
Carnage is back with a new series; All new Carnage #1. Two new Star Wars comics to check out; Chewbacca #3 and Darth Vader #12.

Once again Marvel is throwing together a bunch of their B and C rated characters (see InvestComics Hot Picks #395). This time for the Illuminati #1 release. Will these thrown together teams work or are we looking at cancellations down the road?
On the complete opposite side of the spectrum for Marvel this week as far as characters on a team go; Ultimates #1 is a great team!
Another cool team this Wednesday will be the Web Warriors. Check out their number one issue. Expect a sold out book here. The Web Warriors first appeared in Spider-Verse Part 4 (2014).
