NOTE. Please understand that when InvestComics releases the Hot Picks article on Friday that many of the independent comics may not be available on Ebay yet. Most of the time, some of the more obscure titles make their way onto Ebay later on in the week or right on/at/before new comic book day on Wednesday. Be sure to check back and click the links or cover(s) to see if the books you want have been listed on Ebay. They usually show up, so be sure to check back!
This week’s IC 100 Club Pick is Shazam #1 (1973) graded 9.0. This beauty is only $100 plus free shipping. The first appearance of the Marvel Family in the DC Universe and the origin retold. With so much talk of a Shazam movie and the rumors dying down because nothing is coming to fruition, the comic price has come down a bit. Perfect time to buy. Maybe press this book and up the grade a bit? Movie or no movie, this comic at this grade, at this price is a good buy.
Valiant Entertainment gets the top slot this week. The Hot Pick of the week with Faith #1. Written by Jody Houser, art from Francis Portela and Marguerite Sauvage. Check out the InvestComics review of this comic right HERE. It received a great review from our reviewer Ian Powers and we’re telling you that Faith #1 will be a hit. It’s already sold out at the distributor level with a second print arriving on the same day as the first print! Already covered by multiple media source outlets, the comic will be a huge hit for Valiant. Our reviewer says (and he’s a film director) that the Faith character could easily find her way to a live medium. We truly partake in that opinion. Pick up the first print of Faith #1 on Wednesday. If not lucky enough, grab a second print. If not lucky enough, a third print is probably not that far behind.
A few variants will accompany this release on Wednesday. The Clayton Henry CGC graded 9.8 variant is an eye catcher for sure!
As many of you already may know and some don’t, Faith was originally the character Zephyr. Zephyr first appeared way back in 1992’s Harbinger #1 (Valiant). As long as the Faith character catches on, so will the Harbinger #1 comic. Lots of copies of this comic available on Ebay.
Bloodshot Reborn #10 (Valiant) will begin a new story arc. Bloodshot is Analog Man! The regular and penciled variant covers are fantastic. The Jeff Lemire cover is quite awesome as well. A must read/get!
InvestComics has been on top of Monstress since its inception a few months ago. We tell you now that Monstress #3 will release this week. Keep on top of this series. Good read and potential super hit when word really spreads about this comic.
DC begins to bank on the Suicide Squad movie coming out in August with the release of Suicide Squad Most Wanted Deadshot Katana #1. By the time July rolls around, the last issue of this 6 issue mini will be out. An early start, but ending a month before the movie release. We’re quite sure we’ll see lots more Suicide Squad comics, variants, appearances before then too.
Superman Lois and Clark #4 will gives readers a better understanding as to why Lois gave Clark the lovely black Superman costume. Why Lois? Why? Do tell us.
A new group will be introduced in We Are Robin #8. The Jokers are their name and speculation is our game! Ah see what we did? We rhymed. We’re super hip. Lee Bermejo provides the great Joker cover with the Jokers. The DC Hot Pick of the week!
We’re not quite sure why all of the hoopla when the cover of All-New All-Different Avengers #4 was revealed a while back. Captain America and Thor are kissing…..so? Now if it were the original characters, that may be a bit different, and we still wouldn’t even care then either, but these two? What’s the big deal here? Fanboys either love it or hate it. What side are you on? Civil War! Wait, wait wrong wrong, all wrong.
Check out the first appearance of Loop in Deadpool and Cable Split Second #2.
The Mike Deodato Jr. Old Man Logan #1 variant is the best of all the covers. At $25, it’s a bit steep though.
Cosmic Times and Kevin LaPorte team up for a one shot; Scales Of Time #1.
Once again, InvestComics had the collector from the start with another series that keeps selling out. Henchgirl #4 is sold out. That marks the fourth sellout in a row. Henchgirl has unofficially caught on to a fanbase. And the number one issue (which we told you about) actually has a short print run.
Check out these new indie titles coming this Wednesday; Strayer #1 (After-Shock Comics), Cry Havoc #1 (Image), and Victorie City #1 (IDW).
Invest wisely. Read comics.
Carpe Diem.
