NOTE. Please understand that when InvestComics releases the Hot Picks article on Friday that many of the independent comics may not be available on Ebay yet. Most of the time, some of the more obscure titles make their way onto Ebay later on in the week or right on/at/before new comic book day on Wednesday. Be sure to check back and click the links or cover(s) to see if the books you want have been listed on Ebay. They usually show up, so be sure to check back!
This week’s IC 100 Club Pick is Firestorm #1 9.0 (1978). This graded 9.0 is only $75 with free shipping. With Firestorm as popular as he is, this comic is a great buy. Yes the speculative market has calmed down a bit since the character was ultra hot at one time, but now is a perfect time to get back in the market and buy this fantastic first appearance. Who knows, maybe DC’s new “Rebirth” will include Firestorm in his own title (again), but this time they gain momentum on his popular status once again. It really doesn’t matter if nothing happens to be honest, this is a good buy for the first appearance at only 75 bucks…….and free shipping!

As InvestComics pointed out last week regarding Deadpool And The Mercs For Money #1. We spoke about the starring cast with Deadpool and it seems as though we were on to something (as usual). This Wednesday’s Deadpool #7 will feature some backup stories pertaining to those exact characters we gave everyone a heads up on! We won’t say told you so…….yet.
It will be an anniversary issue as well. 25 years of Deadpool. That was a quick 25, time is flying by! So what should Disney do to cash in on the monster Deadpool movie coming out next week? Put out a special limited edition Deadpool book? Give fans a hostile takeover on various Marvel covers (that’s ongoing right now actually). How about a price point at $9.99? Yes, this sounds right. Awesome! Granted it’s an “anniversary” issue at 96 pages, but $9.99? Marvel/Disney are some smart suits aren’t they?! Make that money!

A plethora of variants (all starting at $9.99) accompany this issue, but one standout cover already catches our eye. The best part? It’s the regular cover! (Even though we’re looking at $9.99 across the board) Artist Tony Moore lets Wade Wilson have his way with the Walking Dead #1 cover. Very unique cover from Tony, we’re a buy here regardless of the bit*hing we’ve done.
And check out all of the Mercs For Money team members first appearances from last week right above! Click and buy/bid now!
If you’re a regular reader here, you’ll already know about this, but it’s been a little while since we mentioned it to the current speculators/readers. Buy Star Wars comics. There are introductions going on in some books that may seem meaningless now, but if one of these characters ever find their way to the screen or even have their own successful spinoff comic, you’ll be unhappy that you didn’t take our advice. Besides all that, and more importantly, they’re great reads. Check out Darth Vader #16 as this series begins a new story arc.

Learn more about the new villain Espectro in Silk #4. Espectro first appeared in the previous issue.
It looks as though a villain will be getting a makeover in All New All Different Avengers #5. It’s always great when comic companies change the look of one of their characters and then watch the fanboys lose their minds.
Scott Snyder is wrapping up his Batman run and Batman #49 promises some big plot lines about to put a bow on everything.
DC’s Batman Arkham Knight Batgirl And Harley Quinn #1 will reprint Batman Arkham Knight #1: Batgirl Begins (2015) from last year. Apparently DC feels the need to slap Harley Quinn on almost anything these days to get some attention **ahem Deadpool**. Although a lame tactic, DC knows how to get revenue streaming and money is how businesses stay in business. Too bad for anyone that doesn’t understand this. Check out the cover here too, the exact same one as Batman Arkham Knight #1: Batgirl Begins (2015), but with a circle cutout of Harley’s face. Not too sure if THIS particular comic is in fact the giveaway or not DC is talking about in their solicit, but either way it’s the first Arkham Knight Batgirl appearance.
Neal Adams sketch variants this week (all stellar!); Batman Superman #29, Batman #49, Red Hood Arsenal #9, Starfire #9, and Telos #5.
A new offering from DC’s Vertigo line; Dark And Bloody #1. Looks like an interesting read.
Image Comics’ Descender #10 will introduce a new character named ‘Queen Between.’ For real, we didn’t make that up. Make sure you have your Descender comics in order because Sony pictures has the rights all wrapped up and will release a movie.
More great indie’s to pick up this Wednesday……
Badger #1 from Devils Due Publishing. This character had it firing on some cylinders a bit back in the 80’s. Badger #1 (1983) was from a company called Capital Comics. They went out of business and First Comics then picked up the series. Lasting 70 issues and then an array of restarts from different outlets thereafter. The number one issue from 1983 on Ebay is mega cheap. A fantastic series back in the day.
Check out the review on InvestComics right HERE for Shaft Imitation Of Life #1 (Dynamite Entertainment) coming out this Wednesday.
Rich Douek hits us with the second issue; Gutter Magic #2 from IDW.
The House of Montressor #1 (Action Lab Entertainment) is sold out. After-Shock Comics Second Sight #1, Jonesy #1 (Boom Studios), Zombie Tramp Special #1 (Danger Zone), Tinker #1 from Overground Comics. Keep an eye out on Overground Comics, they’re putting out some good product.
Invest wisely. Read comics.
Carpe Diem.
