New Faces in Classic Comics: Tracking First Appearances on Key Comic Thursday

Welcome to episode twenty-five of InvestComics Key Comic Thursday! Today, we’re rolling out the red carpet for a parade of first appearances that run the gamut from the downright bizarre to the absolutely adorable. Buckle up for a wild ride through comic book history!

Zip back to 1987 with Flash #5, where we meet the ever-so-speedy Speed McGee. Because apparently, the Flash wasn’t enough speed for one comic, so why not double down on the velocity? 2012’s Invincible #89,  It’s not just another issue; it’s where Bulletproof takes up the mantle as Invincible. Talk about a career upgrade—same powers, new desk. Ice Cream Man #1 from 2018 introduces the Ice Cream Man himself. Not your typical neighborhood ice cream vendor—this one serves scoops of existential dread with a side of creepy. 1997, Impulse #28 brings Arrowette into the fold. Archery seems to be a trend in superhero circles, and she’s here to prove she’s more than just a sharp shooter with a quiver. And in 2021, DIE!DIE!DIE! #14 allegedly gives us the first comic appearance of Grogu, aka Baby Yoda. That’s right, the Force is strong with this one, even in the comic strips—cuteness overload guaranteed!
There you have it a lineup as diverse as it is entertaining. Tune in next week for another episode of InvestComics Key Comic Thursday, where we dig up more comic treasures and quirky firsts.
