Slumdog Director Danny Boyle is producing a new take on MegaCity-One’s finest. Just forget Sly alright? I am the Law.
Judge Dredd is probably the most famous British comics character of all, the 2000 AD star has featured in almost every issue (or Prog) of the long-running weekly, and has his own monthly Megazine, and is popular around the world. Which is why it was such a shame when Sylvester Stallone and Rob Schneider (derp) fucked up the movie version. Puny Humans.
But perhaps now, old Granite-face himself will have a chance at a Cinematic redemption. Empire Magazine have reported that Slumdog Millionaire and 28 Days Later writer Danny Boyle’s production company DNA are producing a new version. Screenwriter Alex Garland, who worked with Boyle on 28 Days Later and Sunshine is writing the film, and comics artist Jock (The Losers, Green Arrow: Year One) is doing design work.
Sounds great right? But who should play Dredd? My pick has to be The Stath. Just look at his face, he’s like Carlos Ezquerra’s subconscious come to life.
