Rob Liefeld Surprise Fill-In Issue plus The Beast Preview

Rob Liefeld’s twitter contains an exciting message, plus some info on the debut of the next book in his Armageddon Now series: The Beast!

Helping out and drawing a fill in issue of an
undisclosed comic book. Never drawn the character other than a guest
shot. Great fun.

That’s what Rob Liefeld said on Twitter earlier today. Speculation on the forums over at robliefeld.net set in immediately, with some interesting suggestions. Could it be Spider-Man? Rob drew Spiderman during a crossover with X-Force back in the early nineties. Other theories (or perhaps fanboy wishes) suggest that it could be Moon Knight, Spawn, or even Invincible.

Liefeld has certainly had a good working relationship with Invincible creator Robert Kirkman over the years, with an unreleased Killraven mini by the two still in the works at Marvel. Personally, this reporter would love to see Liefeld take on Invincible!

In less speculative Liefeld news, Armageddon Now: The Beast is set to debut TODAY at Prophecy Weekend 2009, a special religious event at the church of Pastor Phil Hotsenpillar, who is also the writer of the comic. Armageddon Now is a series of books drawn by Liefeld that present the end-times as foretold in the Bible in classic Liefeld comic book glory. The book features a painted look that differs from Rob’s usual style.

The book should hit comic shops later this month. Here are some preview images we managed to snag from Liefeld’s forum:
