Spotlight on This Week’s Standout Comic Covers
New comics are due out this week 8/14/24
Action Comics #1068 by Eddy Barrows & Danny Miki captures a cinematic moment of Clark Kent transforming into Superman while casually racing a train. Because what’s a morning commute without a little superhero flair? X-Men #2 from J Scott Campbell delivers exactly what we expect—yet another sultry, eye-catching cover that might make you blush. Campbell’s art stays winning with its own brand of superhero glam. Over in the darker corners of the DC universe, DC vs. Vampires World War V #1 brings not one, but two covers to chill your bones. Homare gives us Batgirl gone bad, brooding atop a gargoyle like she’s auditioning for “Twilight.” Meanwhile, Steve Beach scares up a storm with a vampiric Wonder Woman that could give Dracula a run for his money. Vengeance Of The Moon Knight #8 by Salvador Larroca takes a nostalgic turn, depicting a seemingly innocent scene of teenagers sharing Cokes and comics. It’s a slice of Americana… with a side of Moon Knight. The Amazing Spider-Man #55 by John Romita Jr. pays homage (unofficially) to the legendary Bob Layton, with Spider-Man heroically holding up a massive structure. It’s classic Spidey doing what he does best: saving the day and looking good while doing it.
