Tobey Maguire Pleads the Fifth on Malkovich and Hathaway Spider-Man 4 Rumors

The Spider-Man star refuses to speak on rumors of John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway joining the cast of Spider-Man 4 as The Vulture and Vulturess, but could his refusal actually mean confirmation?

Tobey Maguire and others involved in Spider-Man 4 have had no problems squashing squashing false rumors lately. In fact, Maguire just squashed a rumor yesterday that he was set to play Bilbo Baggins in the feature production of The Hobbit. So why is it that, when asked about rumors that John Malkovich would be playing villain The Vulture in Spider-Man 4, and Anne Hathaway would be playing Felicia Hardy, the character known to comic book fans as the Black Cat, who would bizarrely be transforming into a new villainess called The Vulturess in the movie universe, Maguire decided to keep his mouth shut?

"In terms of ‘Spidey 4,’ I will plead the Fifth and not say anything," said Maguire when asked if there was any truth to the rumor. Pressed to address whether he’s a fan of Malkovitch and Hathaway, and whether he’d like to see either actor/actress in the film, Maguire dodged. "Who knows, who knows…" he smirked.
