This week’s Top 5 comics.
Some weeks bring first appearances, some bring jaw-dropping character transformations, and some deliver finality—at least for now. This week has a little bit of everything, from Deadpool’s supposed last ride to Eddie Brock spiraling into a nightmare he may never escape. Then there’s Image Comics, giving us insects, horror, and brutality all in one go. And, of course, Star Wars fans get a fresh mission with the Bad Batch. If you’re a collector, you’re looking at key issues, potential long-term value, and some serious speculation bait. Let’s break it down.

Deadpool Team-Up #5 wraps up Rob Liefeld’s latest (and, if you believe him, final) Deadpool saga. He’s claimed this is the last time he’ll ever write the character. Forever. No more. Done. Of course, we’ve heard some creators say that before, and Marvel/Disney (or others) have a habit of making those promises disappear when the price is right. But for now, this could be a farewell. Wade Wilson is facing the ultimate sacrifice, and if he doesn’t pull off something miraculous, it’s game over. With Dragon’s eggs in danger and Deadpool down, this could be one of those issues that holds historical weight. Liefeld’s name alone makes it collectible, but if there are any unexpected twists (or Marvel has plans to revisit this down the line), expect it to be a book worth watching.
Eddie Brock Carnage #1 might be the start of something terrifying. Eddie Brock has been through it all—Venom, Anti-Venom, King in Black—but now he’s bonded with Carnage, the one symbiote no one should ever want to be attached to. The big question here is whether Eddie can maintain control or if this will push him over the edge into full-blown villainy. Charles Soule and Jesús Saiz aren’t playing it safe, taking Eddie into the darkest corners of Marvel’s horror landscape. If this is where Marvel is taking Brock’s story next, this issue could hold long-term significance in the character’s evolution. Carnage collectors, Venom fans, and speculators should keep a close eye on this one. And that Humerto wraparound cover is a collector piece in itself too.
Bug Wars #1 from Image Comics is an absolute nightmare if you hate insects but a dream if you love dark fantasy. Jason Aaron and Mahmud Asrar are dropping readers into a world where spellcasting spider witches, beetle-riding barbarians, and entire armies of ants wage war. Slade Slaymaker has a score to settle, considering the same insect forces coming for him devoured his father. The setup alone screams brutal storytelling, and Aaron isn’t known for holding back. If Image pushes this the right way, expect this series to generate buzz in the indie scene, and collectors should be watching for first appearances and the continuance of a possible hot story.
The Hive #1 is about bees, but not in any way that you’d expect. Image Comics is going full throttle with sex, violence, and power struggles in a world where Mason Shaw was just a worker bee—until he found himself wrapped up with some very dangerous people trying to escape a queen with immense abilities. A.J. Lieberman and Mike Henderson are crafting something that looks like it’s designed to be unsettling, possibly with some horror and psychological warfare mixed in. The indie market has been delivering some of the most interesting speculative picks lately, and if this one catches fire, it could be an early issue collectors will be scrambling to find later.
Star Wars The Bad Batch Ghost Agents #1 finally gives the Bad Batch their own solo miniseries. While these characters have built a loyal fan base through animation, this marks the first time they’re taking center stage in comic form, making it a potential key for Star Wars collectors. The squad is on the hunt for a Separatist ghost agent who just pulled off a high-stakes heist on Coruscant, but things take a dark turn as they enter the deepest layers of the criminal underworld. Depending on what happens in this series, there could be first appearances, character deaths, or major lore additions that tie into the larger Star Wars universe. Star Wars books have been hit or miss in the market, but first-time solo titles always have long-term potential.
This week’s comics have everything from final chapters to new beginnings, unexpected evolutions, and pure chaos. Whether you’re hunting for key moments or just adding to your collection, there are some books to keep an eye on.
