Top New Releases Hitting Shelves This Week

The shelves at your local comic book store are going to groan under the weight of all the hot new issues dropping this week. Let’s dive into the chaos of colors, capes, and cliffhangers, shall we? InvestComics Hot Picks arriving this Wednesday 4/24/24.

Let’s kick things off with a little slice of history in the making with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #150. That’s right, folks, 150 issues and the turtles haven’t aged a day. Must be all that pizza. Marvel dropping two variant covers for the Micronauts fans out there. Keep your eyes peeled for Amazing Spider-Man #48 and Avengers #13. It’s like Marvel’s saying, “Hey, why not add some tiny superheroes to your collection?” And because no comic book release day is complete without a dash of darkness, Marvel also graces us with Daredevil #8, a special oversized issue celebrating 60 years of the man without fear. Sixty years of brooding in a tight red suit (sometimes yellow), now that’s commitment! Speaking of darkness, let’s talk about new Star Wars Comics. Star Wars Darth Maul – Black, White, and Red #1. This debut horror story promises chills and possibly a first appearance. On the flip side of the galaxy, don’t miss out on Star Wars Jango Fett #2. It’s like the universe heard our cries for more Mandalorian action and decided, “Fine, here’s a bone.” For those who enjoy the thrill of the chase, Jackpot and Black Cat #2 continue the dynamic duo’s adventures. Rumor has it, there might be a first appearance lurking in these pages. Now, if horror is your thing, Boom Studios is whispering sweet nothings with Something Is Killing The Children #36. It’s a self-contained story, so jump on board without worrying about catching up.

Spider-Punk Arms Race #3 arrives with Daredevil and, get this, a Spider-Van. Nothing says “punk rock” like a van. Meanwhile, Ultimate Spider-Man #4 is probably going to continue its “hot streak.,” Wolverine’s back at it in Wolverine #48, featuring a Jonas Scharf vampire variant cover. It’s Creed vs. Creed. For those who like a bit of meta in their comics, Drawing Blood #1 from Image Comics introduces Shane Bookman, a comic creator crafted by none other than TMNT’s Kevin Eastman. Talk about coming full circle. Now, let’s talk Batman, because you can’t have a comic release week without him. Batman The Brave and The Bold #12 features a special black & white story by Charlie Adlard of the Walking Dead. And Batman Dark Age #2 continues to twist the Bat’s origin story into new pretzels. Finally, for those who fancy a bit of indie spirit, Spectregraph #1 by James Tynion IV and Christian Ward might just be your new obsession. Because what’s a comic book day without a fresh start from DSTLRY Media? With the popularity of Dazzler brewing, thanks to Deadpool and Taylor Swift, Rise Of The Powers Of X #4 has a Dazzler variant cover by David Nakayama.
