Four Marvel Comics from yesteryear get startups again. Black Widow has had her fair share of comics throughout the years. Whether it’s a team-up, mini-series or a solo book. This week Marvel gives it a go once again with Black Widow #1. Writers Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska along with artist Flaviano bring the latest series. The Invaders #1 originally debuted in 1975, lasting about 41 issues. Lets see if writer Chip Zdarsky, artists Butch Guice and Carlos Magno will set out to beat that 41 number with Invaders #1 this Wednesday. Marvel Comics Presents from 1988 fared much better, lasting 175 issues. Marvel Comics Presents #1 with various creators; Ann Nocenti, Greg Pak, Charles Soule, Tomm Coker and Paulo Siqueira. That’s a whole lotta talent smashed into one book. This series back in the day was fantastic and it’ll be fantastic again. The last, but not least of the past, now present comics to hit this Wednesday is Marvel Tales: Venom #1. Well, this title wasn’t exactly a past book, you see it was called “Marvel Tales’…….mostly with Spider-Man reprints. This series kicked off in 1964 with an annual reprinting six origin stories. A cool, innovative idea, from the house of ideas that still holds up in today’s market. Reprint stuff with a cool cover and people will buy it. Especially the speculators thinking the New Mutants #98 reprint will be worth as much as the original with a Rob Liefeld signature. Well, that’s a whole other conversation for another time, but for now we’re discussing Marvel Tales. The original reprint comic. A first of its kind really. Recycling old comics and slapping a new cover, making it “new” again. Smart. Well, more of the same this Wednesday, but instead of Spider-Man getting the reprint on the inside, it’ll be Venom. Marvel Tales: Venom #1.

DC’s mega-hit character follows up on their sold out first issue; The Batman Who Laughs #2. Scott Snyder and Jock are turning this Batman character into a force to be messed with. Not in the sense of the comic book genre so much, but in a broader view. With more groundwork, do not be surprised to see The Batman Who Laughs in a major animation movie eventually or something bigger? Yes, the character is getting the right attention it needs to eventually expand. Unlike the Cosmic Ghost Rider, as Ghost Rider is and will always be a second-tier character. Batman is not. Not to compare, but we’re talking general hot characters at the moment.
Superman #7 will be the biggest trending comic this Wednesday. A new Superboy debuts. A new look and all. Writer Brian Michael Bendis, artists Brandon Peterson, Joe Prado and Ivan Reis.
Suicide Squad #50 is an anniversary, extra-sized issue.

Trending Pop Culture Indie Hot Picks; Some Indie comics (small press) do not always show up on Ebay right way. Please check back on a regular basis, some of the smaller print indie books usually list after new comic book release day or a few days after.
The hottest indie book this week is White Widow #1. An amazing cover(s) from Jamie Tyndall is sure to turn some heads. Besides DC’s Superman #7, this comic takes the top spot. This Red Giant Entertainment comic is written by Benny Powell and art from Jamie Tyndall. A sell out at the distributor level will happen by the time you reach the end of this post.
IDW give the bad as* TMNT villain his own book; Shredder. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shredder in Hell #1; Mateus Santolouco writes/draws. Expect this to fly off the shelf.
Spawn Kills Everyone Too! #2; Todd McFarlane and Will Robson.
